Qt flatpak apps not using COSMIC SSDs?

Hello, I am on freshly updated Fedora Cosmic Atomic and I really like it, but Qt apps from flatpak specifically misbehave when it comes to SSDs - I also can't double click the titlebar to maximize them for some reason.

GTK/adwaita apps look fine and perform fine in that regard.

Is that specifically COSMIC thing not supporting Qt flatpak well enough or is it something else?

Linux can't be good for productivity. There isn't a single one good native e-mail client.

Seriously now I tried Evolution, Geary, Claws Mail, KMail and they all SUCK.

They either look extremely dated, are mostly abandoned, lack key features like OAuth2 support/PGP encryption and others or are extremely slow (thanks to Akonadi).

"jUsT uSe tHunDerBiRd" - I'm talking about native clients here, not a glorified PWA.

Facts are: Outlook beats EVERY SINGLE E-MAIL CLIENT that Linux has to offer.

Mr M is a Neovim zealot cosplaying as stoic Windows user

Lil madthumbzy is a zealous Vim user that will ban anyone who disagrees with him on that topic lmao

I might probably be the only person ever unbanned from that sub for a different reason...

And then I got banned again, it will be a permanent ban so idc anymore

BTW Did you know that 101 has an "approved user" program? Whatever that means haha

Loonix Fud-ation spends only 2% of their annual budget on actual Kernel development.

And people still wonder why loonix is trash

The disturbing white paper Red Hat is trying to erase from the internet

RedHat is collaborating with Israel and leaking a classified promotional document that essentially says "genocide more efficiently with our products".

Now they are desperately trying to scrub a certain white paper from the internet...

Linux + Bluetooth = 💀

It happened to me yet again! Sometimes Linux just doesn't want to connect to my SAVED bluetooth device AT ALL. It's bad enough that I can't keep the device paired on both Windows and Linux at the same time, Linux just refuses to work sometimes even when it's the only OS managing the device!

I hate when this happens because then I have to forget the device, power cycle my headphones and disable/reenable bluetooth inside the DE as well. If I miss a step or do it out of order it just won't work...

An original, handwritten story about Flatpak (hold the line snap users!)

Flatpak is like an old bridge that served the Town for years, but no one ever dared renovate it, because of its complex construction (deduplication being a major pain point). There are barely any dedicated bridge engineers in Town (a couple of devs working on critical infrastructure = no better than abandonware). The ones that are left are grumpy old folk. In order for the bridge to last another year, they ordered every merchant (app developer) to have a special pass, distributed only by the bridge engineer mafia themselves. They've also been very difficult to work with (denying multiple app developers their place on Flathub).

And so, when the bridge inevitably crumbles under its own weight, the mayor will probably opt for going back to ferrying goods across the rushing river instead (using apt and dpkg in 2026).

There is a company in town (Canonical) that has proposed a solution to the bridge situation. They want to dig a tunnel under the river, completely bypassing the transport issue. But the mayor and the community don't trust them, following an incident in which several people bruised their knees while walking down the stairs to the tunnel (snap issues that will be fixed when the tech gets enough polish). Some people voiced their concern over not being able to build a makeshift version of the same tunnel because the company (Canonical) wouldn't give them access to shaped charges (snap store infrastructure) used to dig a path across the river.

The company (Canonical) has been very open about the tunnel's construction and even invited some merchants to try it out (welcoming snap community) to find out if it fits their own requirements, but barely anyone has heard of this, as local bums (FSF people: sorry, I have so much fun writing this :P) have been squatting near the tunnel entry, screaming that their alleged right to smear the tunnel walls with their own excrement - instead of using the lavatory (just use Debian if you don't like snap) - had been taken away from them, which brought the company bad press.

Hence the decision was made: The Town will withdraw its support for the company (Canonical) building the tunnel (snap). Leaflets were distributed across neighborhoods (youtube) and the town criers (youtubers) spread information about heinous acts the company was responsible for - namely, the bruised knees of those brave enough to use the tunnel stairs (using snaps and finding out they still have a couple of issues).

As for what happens next: whether the bridge finally collapses, whether the tunnel ever opens to the public, or whether some third crossing shows up that nobody saw coming - well, that's a story for another day. The Town moves slowly, but it never stops moving.

Tune in next week, same bridge, same river. <3

Why both Login Manager and Lock screen?

Seriously, what's the fucking point of splitting them? I have to set wallpaper THREE TIMES.

First time for Background, 2nd time for Lock screen and the 3rd for Login Manager.

Linux is a crazy land where everyone splits functionality until there is none of it left.

The sorry state of this sub

Loonixtards here can't take linux criticism for shit.

You can see that in one of my repost, just read comments:

Chill linuxmemes bros

Rabid linuxsucks dogs

I love them loonixtards calling this sub a "vent place" or a "sub for linux users to complain about linux" when in reality not a single soul here can distance themselves from it.

Y'all just dickride Turdvalds like there is no tomorrow. I pity you.
