Does anyone know if these are the same person? (GM Darwin nostalgia trip)

Found this possible connection while rabbit holing old UO memories and was wondering if anyone knew more.

If you don't recognize the name, Darwin was a GM who was caught duping millions of gold, castle deeds, placing keeps on unbuildable land, etc., and selling it all on eBay. This was in the wild west early days of MMOs as well as online marketplaces.

Then this came up. Same name, same middle initial, age lines up, also in Texas.

Home Insurance Broker Recommendations?

Rates just went up yet again and I'm sick of it. Last year we made our first claim in over 20 years for roof damage and it was like pulling teeth. Anyone have any recommendations for a good insurance broker? Thanks.

MOO2 1.50.26 updated, toxic planets no longer turned to barren with weather controller/biomorphic fungi

Updated from 1.50.18, where playing a creative race (so I got both techs) a combination of biomorphic fungi and weather controller turned a toxic world to barren. In 1.50.26 this doesn't seem to be the case. Is this a bug or are there modifications I have to make to get this to work again? Thanks.

How to trim lots of basil correctly

First year gardener. I have 8 basil plants (pic) that were all water propagated from a supermarket basil plant I managed to accidentally kill about 2 months ago (realized too late the pot had no drainage and the roots were dying, took 8 stem cuttings, water rooted for about 3 weeks, repotted). I've been dutifully trying to cut above nodes for bushiness and have had some degree of success. Yes the pots are probably too small and they're a little crowded together but I have what I have and I resolved not to go nuts in the first year, especially when I don't know what to do with everything when Minnesota winter comes around.

Now I want to make some recipes that will need at least a cup of leaves per recipe so the small yields from trimming above the top nodes won't give me enough. What's the best way to harvest a lot of leaves while still maintaining plant health? I assume you still want to cut stems a little further down, but do you cut below previous cuts and lose branching, or just cut the straight stems? Is it ever okay to pluck the big feeder leaves near the bottom? Thanks.

Newbie to potted plants, bought these as Thai hot pepper seedlings. Look a little curvy for Thai and what are these yellow ones?

Nothing has changed color yet, the greens came out green and the yellows yellow. FWIW I bought four seedling pots with 2 seedlings each for the princely total of $2 a few months ago and kept them all, so if they're not the right species I'm not bothered. This is my first attempt at any sort of plant growing. Thanks.

Unexpected Positive Repair Experience

I have had Quantum for about 5 years with no hiccups, though I've been following the horror stories about tech support and just figured if I ever needed tech support I would just be switching providers right away rather than wait for 2 weeks.

Yesterday my old ONT (Calix 803G) gave up the ghost late at night. I got on the worthless AI chat and got connected to a representative, who said the unit was too old and would need a replacement. Amazingly there was an available appointment the next morning.

Tech got here, installed the unit, tested out good. I use my own edge router and told them ahead of time that I would prefer for have the new unit just be an ONT. When I checked my router, it was giving me a private range IP (192.168.0.X in this case) so clearly the new Lumen Q1000K was routing. The tech got some higher level techs on the phone right away so I could talk to them directly and after a little troubleshooting and menu descriptions, we figured out (1) how to switch the Q1000K into bridging mode, and (2) there's still some goofiness going on with the Q1000K handling VLAN 201 tags (I had to turn it off on my own edge router). I see there are some posts about the VLAN tag and Quantum's handover to AT&T so I'll have to look for some diagnostics to determine if there is a problem but for now everything seems like it works like it used to, and much faster than expected.

Prospective buyer, P-01 confusion looking at listings

Hi, looking to buy a P-01 for EDC because it ticks the metal framed DA/SA hammer boxes for me in a compact. I'm running into some weird inconsistencies on listings I need some help with. For reference the specific listing I'm looking at is at Dalhonega, https://www.dahlonegaarmory.com/product/p-01-75th-9mm-151-3.8-fs

Hoping someone can clear these up before I drop money on something I didn't want.

  1. The lower frame looks like that of a P-01 Omega with the forward levering thumbswitch. Is this how they are or is this a Frankenstein photo? It seems to show up at a lot of retailers.

  2. The red indicator seems to indicate this is configured as a safety instead of a decocker. Is there a way to tell? I want the decocker.

  3. The 50th anniversary model states it comes with a 15rd mag instead of the stock 14rd. Is there anything to know about regarding the 15rd? For example I know different capacity mags can cause problems with some different Beretta 92 variants and I want to avoid mag problems.

  4. If the lower frame is different between the 50th anniversary and the standard does this cause problems getting holsters that fit?

  5. Is the 50th Anniversary even desirable? I know people hate the stamping, but at least on this one it looks dark instead of obnoxious white. Is this still considered NATO duty approved?

Thanks for any help.

(FB link because they don't have a web presence otherwise.)

Rarely post about restaurants but I have been waiting for a middle eastern place for the year and a half this shop has had the "Coming Soon" sign up in the window. I was sure this place was not opening because they ran into some insurmountable licensing/permit hurdles plus the pressures of the ICE invasion and would shut down without ever opening. I was wrong. Yesterday was the soft opening, on probably the worst day you could have a soft opening. Rain, gloomy, Rice St. torn up from water main work, sidewalk also torn up. Went anyway, 100% worth it.

The bad: Not much. They have a self ordering kiosk that doesn't really work but I hate those so I don't care. First day jitters, took a while to get our order correct between language barrier, unfamiliar menu, and them not being used to the point of sale system yet.

The good: literally everything else. Place looks great, roomy, airy, lots of natural light, clean. Service super friendly and attentive. They don't have Diet Coke/Pepsi but they do have Crodo, which is better. Plating looks great. Food was banging.

Tabouli: really really good. Didn't skimp on the parsley, good proportion of tomatoes, perfect amount of oil/lemon to keep it moist without drowning the salad. A+.

Hummus served with sliced and hot pita bread wedges. Great consistency, creamy, topped with good olive oil and spices including ground sumac.

Ali Baba Falafel sandwich is wrapped in a long tortilla-like thing that I thought might be a white flour lavash if such a thing exists. Falafel balls excellent, green on the inside as they should be from fresh herbs, outside browned. The sandwich comes with eggplant, cauliflower, some pickled veg, red cabbage, and thin whole slices of lemon including the rind. I thought that was a little weird but I bit into one and it's really not bad.

Beef Shawarma sliced into very thin shards, seasoned with whatever the house za'atar is made of. Satisfying. A little dry (because it's shawarma) but served with a nice thin lemony tahini.

The rice side (you can get this instead of fries) deserves its own section. It's a bit mysterious. It's got a yellowish tinge but I can't tell if it's from turmeric, safflower, or if they really have no food cost controls and just sued saffron. Very aromatic, with an herbal note I couldn't place for a long time. I think it's green cardamom but not sure.

Now the other bad: I can no longer drive past it and make fun of the sign as we have been for a year and a half, every week. It's totally in our regular rotation of kickass local non-chain restaurants now.
