This has been going on for as long as I can remember - a huge portion of the population describing the common cold as the flu!

I thought Covid might have educated people about all things viral, but no. People constantly describing cold symptoms while claiming they have the flu.

Why do so many Irish people do this?? If they actually had the flu, they'd fucking know it.

I was feeling a bit fluey at work yesterday 🤷

Am I the only one who finds this intensely annoying??

Look, another community up in arm about the removal of trees. An interesting fact is that this project at, its completion, will have more trees than is there presently.

If I was cynical, I'd suggest that their true objection is against the removal of some parking and the creation of traffic calming measures but they are using the tree argument because they think it is more publicly palatable. They just love their trees.

Passed a new café on Academy Street called Luna. It's where Loving Salads was.

Both yesterday and today it was absolutely buzzing with customers both inside and out. Very happy for them.

But what's the story here? What's their usp? What are they doing right? I've never seen a new café so busy. I'm just curious why.

Looks nice, too.

Noticed that Masseytown/Smash Burger was closed yesterday and today. No sign in the door or window.

Anyone know if it's closed down?

At least it wasn't raining like 1999, I suppose.

Today, a little after 4, i counted eight private cars in a timed minute driving through Patrick's Street. If my little experiment is representative that's 480 cars an hour driving on a street that is supposed to be restricted to public transport. Imagine the revenue from fines if it was enforced.

It is completely unenforced and routinely ignored. Why bother with it at all?

Personally I'd like to see it in force 24 hours a day with a window for deliveries.

Has anyone ever seen a customer make a purchase at this stall in Paul Street shopping center?

It just seems like a really poor business idea for Cork city and I've never seen a customer there.

For anyone who doesn't know it, they do boxes of pre sliced cheese and charcuterie with nibbles.

Considering we have On The Pig's Back, Wheelan's and Iago all within a few minutes walk and several supermarkets with reasonable cheese selections nearby, it's hard to see how they can compete.

Yes, we all know that there's a lot of of vape and phone shops in the city. Most of us agree that we don't really like them on our main street and that there's too many of them.

​

But for the love of fuck, can we stop with the, "anything to be said for another vape shop?", "I was hoping for another vape shop", gags. We've heard it a million times. It doesn't make you look funny or clever - quite the opposite. Yet people keep doing it thinking they're gas craic all together!
