Is there a way to make the game more challenging?

I just wanted to play a top down pokemon game on my switch and bought Brilliant Diamond, but I now struggle with how trivial every battle is becoming.
I‘m just casually exploring and battling trainers on my way without any grind but I’m already so overleveled, the core gameplay in battles has become so trivial it’s not fun anymore and I just got the third badge.

Did I do something wrong? And is there a way to not be totally overleveled?

All the solutions I can come up with aren’t really satisfying. It seems I either try to avoid playing the game by exploring less and avoid trainer battles (which is kinda pointless, because that’s what I want to do in the game) or I don’t use the mons I like, which is also not a satisfying experience.

Do you have any ideas how to get more joy out of a casual play through, or is the game just designed in a way that it’s not challenging?

rest in peace my sweet prince, you’ll be missed 😭

I had such a good time with this highrolly troll of a card. Saved my ass a bunch of times, lost me some games but dammit I’ll not pass up an opportunity for greatness!

I love Duos!

I’ve seen a lot of complaint threads in here, so I want to share some positivity!
Coming from (way too many) other TCGs/CCGs to battlegrounds was already fun, but Duos made me really fall in love with this game. It’s so novel to me to be actually cooperative in this kind of strategy game and I’m impressed how well it works.
It feels more chill& forgiving compared to solo lobbies because you have so much health.
The odd grief gamer aside, people are really trying to communicate through limited pings and help each other out, striving towards the same goal and I think that’s awesome. The closest comparison to me is the “two headed giant” format in Magic the Gathering, which I also love.

Anyways: shoutout to all the friendly players in Duos ✌🏼 and sorry for my misplays, I’m trying my best
