Lubed clutch cable and adjusted it - now I can’t get the clutch to engage (1978 Moto Guzzi Robin)
I road it this morning and know it works but my clutch cable was stuck so I was manually pushing the clutch lever in with my foot to start it.
I released the cable to lube it which resolved the stuck cable but now pulling the cable and the lever there’s not even the sound of the engine trying to turn. What did i do wrong? 🤡
The photo where you can see the clutch cover fully is before I took it apart.
The other photo is with the cable released just to provide another angle
Disregard the purple fluid - I was removing rust and cleaning my bike in that photo.
Shocked how fragile the stock mirrors are on my 2022 v7
I was trying to adjust them and I made them a little tight and applied the slightest pressure and felt the plastic snap. I was so shocked because the pressure was so minimal.
Ended up swapping them for some $40 ones on Amazon
They feel way better moving around and looks better too imo.
First time riding outside of nyc and going 70+ - amazing time and so stoked!
I got my first bike - 2022 moto guzzi v7 stone about 1 month ago. I’ve just been riding around nyc which is only 25mph speed limit except for the bridges where you can hit like 45mph.
I was nervous at first riding on open road but my god it was so freeing after about 30min-1hr getting the hang of shifting and taking curves. I’m pretty cautious and did ride with an experienced rider who gave a lot of tips. Using a Cardo is so fucking dope to communicate while riding.
We road about 140 miles today and it was super smooth. Maybe 2 “incidents” with sudden car stops that made me realize I need to work on my rev match/down shifting and breaking because my first instinct is to pull clutch in and smooth break but then I’m in 3rd gear stopped and have to shift down. By the end of the ride I was getting the hang of proper down shifting and rev matching. Felt super confident honestly and riding on a Friday was great due to know traffic around the state park.
Bear Mountain State Park, New York
New rider and took my bike out of nyc for the first time. Had a blast exploring Harriman state park and bear mountain state park!

Favorite routes to LI beaches or port towns?
Looking to explore more of Long Island and go to towns like Northport or some of the natural beaches. I’ve never driven a car there though and am not sure if there’s any decent routes exist.
What high ways/ways to leave the city towards Hudson valley are recommended for first time riders? Or just what to avoid
Looking to leave the city for the first time and just curious if there are any general recommendations on more beginner friendly bridges/ highways to get to Hudson valley area if I wanted to ride to cold spring area.
Edit: by first time I mean beginner rider who has competed MSF course and owns a bike already. I just have city experience though.
Edit 2: based in Brooklyn
Good Days, Williamsburg is consistently my favorite place in nyc since they opened in October 2025
I’ve been 10+ times and I can’t get enough of it! The food and drink program is top notch. The staff are so welcoming and make an effort to ensure you have the best experience possible. The owners put a lot of their own labor into building the place out and restoring the outdoor area. The decor is all done by them as well and just creates such a homey neighborhood vibe.
I forget to take photos of my actual food so apologies haha. They change the menu a lot but it’s always 10/10. I’ve always nearly every menu item so feel free to ask me about it.
Go support these people!
PS get the flan for dessert! Especially if you have Cuban roots as it’s a guava cheese take on the traditional flan. The mezcal martini is also fire and you have to try the bocadillo and chicken liver mousse. Also never skip on their house made bread and house made butters🔥
Went to buy a beautifully cared for 2016 v7 Stornello and it wouldn’t start
I went to see a stornello yesterday and I was so stoked. The winner was great, had service records from the couple years of dealership records, great stories about the bike and his relationship with the brand…. Then he went to start it and it wouldn’t start.
He was shocked and I do trust the guy that he wasn’t playing me. The thing is that he just got a new battery last summer so it’s less then a year old and he rarely rides it. 6300 miles total. He said he just road it 2 weeks ago for a few hours.
I really wanted to let it slide but ultimately decided to not buy it out of fear of potential electrical issues that I may be walking into and not wanting to shell out more money as I was already buying out of budget ($5700 USD - he was throwing in a lot of other gear and work stands, etc).
The owner didn’t respond well to me declining as I had cash in hand. This was going to be my first bike purchase and I just couldn’t stomach buying something that was going to be problematic. He did put the battery on a charger and later told me it seemed fine but it still didn’t sit well either me that a new-ish battery wasn’t starting.
Thoughts? I was super bummed out to walk away from this beautiful bike as the Stornello is rare to find and this thing was garage kept by an Italian old man so it couldn’t have been much better of a deal for me other than this starting issue on the spot.
