Is it ok to have a few fragmented sentences?

I found that my timing for essays is always really bad so I rarely have time to actually check what I write which leads to a lot of fragments that I was going to start but then found a better way to write it

Would I still be able to get at least a 5 if there's maybe a random "however, this' in the middle of my essay...

Blah blah basic [] going into premed but I want absolutely nothing to do with coding or machine stuff (just not my thing) so I'm unable to cold email since I don't have any necessary skills for research like that and I don't have any wet lab research either so they won't let me in

also got rejected from the research related summer programs so uh yeah that's meeeee

Got into the pathways program as a rising senior

I think I'll be doing 1 health-ish related internship as well but that's all I really got confirmed

I want to go into med/neuro/health but I'm not sure if doing gwc will look bad on my application

I already don't have a lot of STEM ecs tho... but as a rising senior I think gwc isn't that prestigious right?

Okay so you've probably seen ambassadors spamming about this program

I understand it's been putting a lot of you off and yall probably think that it's a sus program so I'm going to be as honest as possible

What I will say it is definitely not a scam but depending on who you are it might not be what specifically you're looking for
I won't excessively glaze it, here's the honest breakdown of what I did when I was in the program

The actual program:

- For me this program was great and I did it as a rising junior with basically 0 experience so it was a great program that definitely helped me learn about the research process in general

- I got an amazing mentor who was super knowledgeable and who helped me consistently throughout the course of the program. I was again basically new to advanced science concepts so I honestly struggled a bit synthesizing but she helped me out.

However, I know that a few mentors were significantly worse than others. While I believe most of them were good there are a few I believe who had a bit of attitude or were uncommunicative.

- If you're a beginner, this is something good that could give you a foundation for more advanced science/research programs. Otherwise, the program does mainly deal with original studies/literature review types of projects so if you've already done that you might want to stay clear

- There's opportunities of guest speakers and renowned Harvard faculty. They were very hit or miss, some of them were amazing speakers who were really interesting, some others you could tell that they were maybe better at just doing the research rather than presenting it.

- There's also opportunities to win cash prizes and get full publication. Not everyone was published, only 5 lit reviews and 5 research studies were published in their entirety. If you're looking for guaranteed publication, this is not the program for you. All of the people who won received cash prizes up to $500

Application:

- They're not looking for 1 specific cookie cutter person. They're ultimately looking for someone who's more of a beginner but obviously shows passion in the sciences

- This doesn't mean you have to have 10 research competitions, me and a few other people connected our ecs of volunteering and art to our passions for science

- I personally had a 4.0 uw gpa with only 4 weighted classes on my transcript and did not talk about any "fancy" extracurriculars (I mentioned 1 art club and 1 'research' program ran by highschoolers I did and that was it)

- of course there's people who also had much more science experience than me who also got in so again, they're not looking for 1 type of person with 4.0 uw 1600 sat 5 comps type of thing

- in your app just make sure to highlight your unique background and interest in a scientific topic and highlight personal growth/your motivation/thought process

Another thing, this program is often called Harvard SRI because this program is ran by the Harvard Undergraduate OpenBio Laboratory. It's not officially correlated with Harvard but that's why Harvard shows up in its name a lot. This doesn't mean it's not as official though as like I said, the staff who run this program coordinate with Harvard faculty to both serve as guest speakers and judge the publications. But yeah this isn't like a program that'll help you get into Harvard
