Can we normalize sellrz labeling acquired cacti?

Just a suggestion and food for thought... shouldn't be controversial... 😄

I have received some outstanding specimens from many different users in this sub and have found that at least 50% of the time labels are not included... for folks that obtain more than one per month (more like 30+ a month recently) and from different folks (and other platforms) this can get challenging when opening boxes from folks whose names don't match users and no, it isn't always obvious what you are looking at. I opened 5 boxes today, all different specimens - not one label to be found.

Yes, I can take notes to try to cross reference in some way but I would think the labelling should be handled on the other side. Call me crazy but... just write it on the wrapping or slip a piece of paper in each written in crayon... marker at the base of the cacti... anything! Nothing fancy, just a label.

I have also seen folks include a piece of paper inside the box with their reddit username on it, that is actually very very helpful and helps the missing label problem and makes the transaction tracking piece MUCH easier.

Just something to consider as a matter of customer service... at this point I now have to ask everyone I work with to label things and I always apologize up front if that's already their standard practice but I don't take the chance. Oh, if anyone is curious - YES, I label absolutely everything I ship regardless of the situation.

Am I alone on this? 👀

Confirming Transactions

Can't find the recent post about changes to cacti overlord but I know it isn't auto responding anymore and our rating system changed. Anyone got a link to the explanation so I can re-read? Thanks!

Indoor Ps. Azurescens Grow - Automated [actives]

I've been working on the indoor Azzies grow for a while and this setup is my interpretation of what I've seen others do and try and nothing I "invented"... some of you may know me from FB as Park Cosmo - which could be good or bad 😄

On the left is a refrigerated bakery display case and a regular beverage fridge on the right. Both have been modified to accept an incoming fog type 5L humidifier set at 90% and humidity/temp is monitored in both chambers via bluetooth and the display case triggers the humidifier to activate as it loses moisture faster. Both the display and fridge are on smart timers that turn on and off in cycles so that the temperature fluctuates in a range over and over to simulate nature (very loosely). The fridge cycles from roughly 48 degrees to 54 degrees or so which is in my interpretation of the sweet spot for Azzie fruiting.

Apparently the Azzies are loving the sub recipe and conditions well enough that before I put them in the refrigerated fruiting chamber they started fruiting in the bag (pictured) so I guess I fruited Azzies in a bag and I haven't even cased them yet... I case after colonization by cutting off all but the top inch of the bag and sprinkle on the custom sterilized casing. All my grains, substrates and casings are fully sterilized in my autoclave and not pasteurized as is my personal preference.

I'll be sending updates and hoping the fruiting continues more prolifically in the fridge! This is only 1 bag of the 3 that I'll be sending. It's taken trial and error to get this far, they have proven to be a very stubborn strain... pans are a walk in the park compared to these 😂

I have a full set of substrate/casing recipes (shareable, no gatekeeping) if anyone is curious and I always colonize grain and spawn to sterilized substrate in a unicorn Horizon XLS bag until it colonizes for this Azzie grow - I have found less issues with contamination doing this vs. colonizing tubs as the Alder heavy sub seems very sensitive.

I hope this proves interesting and have a great weekend!

Grafting stock - some people see a magazine stand...

I see a grafting stock stand where I can root them upright and easily see the bases without having to grab them 😊. There is another rack that I didn't have the hardware to install that goes on the bottom so 4 racks of stock - stands about 5 ft tall. Will hold quite a bit of root stock in a small space... I did have to cut off the metal wires on each level that would hold a magazine up but a wire cutter made short work of that. The angle they sit at allows the taller ones to go behind the shelf above and it would have to be pretty thick not to fit. Now I have to figure out the best way to deal with Spachianus root stock (top row left and bottom row left) - that stuff has some serious spikey attitude! I'm waiting for the specialty "spike proof" gloves to arrive - the leather gauntlets just don't quite cut it with those.

What are the 4 in the back

UPDATE: After some research it seems that not all spathulata has the hairy stems... so maybe this is just a smooth variety...

Hope this post is ok, loiking for an ID. You can see my pere aquosa in the front recently cut and the 4 tall uncut in the back were sold to me as aquosa but aren't. They don't have spathulata tufts either but look like some kind of pereskiopsis. Definitely not quiabentia either, i have 3 of those. Thoughts?
