Lee retreating into Maryland after G'burg

A thousand apologies for asking such a stupid question, but I've heard he and his troops were forced to climb a mountain to get back to MD. What was the mountain they climbed? I did read a book about Lee's retreat back to MD but the stories about the wounded crying out to be removed from the wagons broke my heart and I had to stop reading. My God, the suffering must have been off the charts! And again, my apologies for such an absurd question but I really don't know the answer. Thank you.

100 mg of gabapentin does nothing

100 mg of gabapentin, once at breakfast, once at noon once at night for 300 total a day. No results at all and I'm exhausted and frustrated.

Edited for clarity.

Gettysburg is so green and lush!

Was it like that the days of the battle? (or should that be days of the battles?) The topography is full of hills, too. I can't even imagine marching up and down, around boulders and up and down and up and down, thick woods filled with ticks...

I saw some re-enactors there as well. I wanted to pull over and ask if I could take some photos but wasn't sure if that was okay.

And a huge thank you to the staff, all of them were incredibly nice and helpful. I got some goodies in the gift shop, drove around for about two hours and left, tired and happy.

Unmounted cavalry at Gettysburg

I was watching the movie, the scene where Buford's men fight. If they are unmounted, who watches their horses? And why would they dismount? Could someone please explain this scene to me, I'm confused about it.

Big Beach Brawl doesn't work?

It's on the Daily Tab but I can't make the game play. Does anyone else have this issue and if so, how did you resolve it? I have completed the game, both easy and hard levels but it'd be fun to continue with the challenges. Thanks! (P.S.) I'm playing on my laptop.

sleeping comfortably

Sleeping in my bed is extremely uncomfortable. I'm thinking of getting something like an E Z Boy and sleeping in that. Has anyone done this?

Cotton Prices

As I understand it, nobody could get cotton shipped out of the South during the Civil War. The Brits switched to cotton grown in Egypt and never switched back, so American cotton prices stayed low even after the war. Is this accurate?

Sword Etiquette

In all the movies, the officers wore their swords EVERYWHERE! When they went to military briefings. Or were introduced to pretty ladies. Or at a social event. Is this historically correct? What was sword etiquette? Thanks!

Hair care question

I have short hair for ease of maintenance. Every morning, my hair looks like it's been combed with a mixmaster and it won't lie straight. It feels ridiculous and embarrassing. What do you ladies do?

Battle of the Bulge

Could someone recommend a good non-fiction book about the Battle of the Bulge? My father fought there, was seriously wounded, and never fully recovered from the trauma of his military experiences. I'd like to learn the history of the battle so I can better understand what he endured. (My father was an American who grew up in Brooklyn)
