When do i use sanity saves?

I've always ever defaulted to fear saves and its getting unfair for some characters since in multiple sessions ive only asked for like 1-2 sanity rolls in total and several fear rolls. When do i use sanity rolls?

What level is cursed scroll 4 hexcrawl meant for

I really wanna try the hexcrawl but ive had problems with shadowdark being too lethal in the past. Recently, however, i tried a dungeon by giving max HP to each player and 1 extra level and that felt more like my playstyle. What level is CS4 meant for?

What do you enjoy about 'playing' ttrpgs ( not dm-ing)

I'm a long time DM who has stopped enjoying being a player ever since I started dming. I used to enjoy playing it but now I cant even think of a single reason why I would be playing ttrpgs when I could be dming instead.

Any time Im a player now, I can't help but think about how I would dm this differently and nitpick stuff (i dont say it ofc. im not an asshole)

Combat systems that discourage doing the same thing every turn

(alternatively, combat systems that encourage doing different things)

I've been playing DnD for several years now but I've been noticing how 90% of our turns go the exact same. The combat can be still interesting but thats only because of me as a dm creating unique scenarios, not because of the player abilities. The rogue hiding and sneak attacking is the best thing to do in almost all cases.

What are some systems that discourage this so that the players actually have to think rather than going on auto pilot.

For me, combat absolutely takes away the immersion and the horror. When you give a statblock to a creature, take turns attacking each other and so on, it no longer remains a horror story. So i'm looking for oneshots with almost no combat.

Note: a monster thats not meant to be fought (but has a statlock) is completely acceptable. I loved ypsilon 14 even though technically it has a monster.

I'm going to run a oneshot for some people who are playing an rpg for the first time. Im confident in my abilities to explain the system to them. I'm just wondering which one to pick
