My 1985 turbo, falling in love

This car had sat for a while in a garage, not used much. The tires are 20 years old with only about 4k miles on them. I did a lot of work making it more reliable and driveable, still needs tires, some cosmetic and hvac work but it is a joy to drive. Ive never had a car that gets so many compliments haha.

Z31 carbon/evap canister testing

Gas pump keeps turning off unless i put in fuel super super slowly. I think the issue is my carbon canister. I am 99% sure i have the lines from the FSM translated to the canister correctly (in images).

Blowing from the fuel tank hose into the carbon canister the FSM says i should have no air leakage. But when i do blow into it, lots of air passes through.

Also when blowing from the "purge to manifold" hose into the canister, the FSM says that there should be air leakage. I have zero air leakage when i blow into it.

Is there a way to take apart, clean/fix these canisters or do i need to buy a new/used one? And please correct me if im wrong in my diagnosis, i tried to make the pictures as clear as i could. Thank you.

Any experience with aftermarket rear wings?

The factory rear wing (some kind of rubbery thing) is totally rotten, most of the clips are broken off and pieces from inside of it keep falling out when i open my trunk lol

Im looking for something relatively similar to stock, with a nice clean look. Anybody have one here?

Park/neutral switch on a z31 automatic

1985 automatic turbo. I have code 24 on my ecu. Im doing some research to find out where and what my park/neutral switch looks like but im getting conflicting answers. Can anybody point me to where the switch is so i can test it before ordering a new one?

YES i have the FSM, it mentions the neutral park switch for diagnosing code 24 but doesnt tell the location. But when i look at the automatic transmission diagram i cant find it.

Is this a manual transmission only thing that im confused about?

Stock ecu vs a remanned/aftermarket one?

Would a remanned/aftermarket ecu preform better than the stock one in my 1985 turbo? Not looking for power, more of a smoother running/efficient unit.

Ive read that for the NA z31's, you could swap like a 1987 ecu into a 1985 car and it runs smoother because the tuning/design was better in the later ones. But only for the NA, not turbo.

Was curious if it would be a worth while investment.

Cant find the right cylinder head temp sensor (chts) for my 85 turbo

In the picture, the top is the engine coolant temp sensor that is located on the passenger side. On the bottom is what im 99% sure is supposed to by my CHTS on the drivers side of the engine.

I cannot find any single wire sensor for the CHTS anywhere, nor can i find a different sensor that looks like the one i removed. Can anybody help? Anybody have the same issue?

The car idles like a dog when cold and this sensor tests bad with my ohm meter, so id like to find a new one haha.

1985 Z31 radio help

Hello, recently got an 85 300zx turbo, been fixing some things and doing maintanence before its totally road worthy.

One of the things that isnt working is my factory radio. IT RANDOMLY WORKED ONCE when i cycled the ignition just to roll my windows down, which was awesome. Then i pressed the power button see if it would go off and on again, and it never came back on.

Any idea what it could be? Bad head unit? I checked the fuse in the fuse box and its fine. Other than that i havent looked into it much.

There are no lights and no response from the buttons

Any help or experience appreciated.

Hello! My friend just bought a 2010 nissan xterra x for cheap because reverse doesnt engage at all. All forward gears work fine and smooth. 130k miles. 4x4.

Anybody have experience or tips in trying to diagnose the issue? I will be helping him and we are both relatively mechanically inclined. Ive pulled transmissions and rebuilt a manual one, but we are not very fimiliar with automatics.

Any advice is appreciated.

What are some spare parts i should keep on hand?

Going to be buying a nice little old b6100 with a front mounted snowblower and 3 point back blade.

3 cylinder

4x4

manual transmission

1100 hours

I have never owned, driven or worked on a tractor like this, only riding mowers. But i love to tinker and i do know how to drive a stick.

I will primarily use it for snow blowing in the winter and to grate my driveway when needed.

Thanks in advance!
