The Rapture Chapter 6: Gawain The Immortal

“I can’t stand that healing of yours you know?” Chernabog says getting a chuckle out of Gawain.
“Unfortunately I haven’t used half of what I could do with this power.” Gawain responds chuckling.
As Chernabog slowly walks forward his shadow morphs before flipping and causing several spikes to pop up in the floor which Gawain manages to dodge consistently although with every one that pops up rubble is thrown around rapidly.

“How are those shadows tangible?” Ugur asks Polyhymnia.
“Sir Chernabog’s shadow manipulation may seem weird but when you look it hard enough it becomes easy to realize what it actually is.” Polyhymnia explains.
“And what’s that?!” Ugur asks impatiently.
“He doesn’t just control the shape but also the state of matter. He can turn shadows into a solid a liquid even a gas!” Polyhymnia explains
“Great more magic bullshit from these gods…” Enlil mutters under his breath clearly annoyed.
From behind the door the three gods hear a guard say “Sir you can’t be he-“ before pure silence.
CREAAAAKKKKK! The sound fills the room as the door slowly opens revealing a figure and the corpses of several dead angels and gods painting the hallway a crimson color.
“What’d I miss?” The god asks sitting down on a couch. Their face is obscured by a bronze bull with crimson glowing dots, he wears a black suit covered in blood and gore, his hands are visible and obscured by metal the same with his feet which look like bull hooves.

In an instant Chernabog rushes forward before jumping up and with both hands bringing his spear down on Gawain who barely manages to block it with his sword nearly crushing his opponent with the force.
After a bit Gawain jumps backwards being showered with rubble and smoke from the resulting blow to the arena.
“I want to ask you one question… why do you still continue to fight? You’re clearly exhausted most gods wouldn’t be able to stand but you’re still on your feet and fighting so why do you persist?” Chernabog asks.
“If there’s one thing I will never do… that’s abandon my duty. I have to beat you and so I shall beat you! It’s as simple as that even with the pain of a battle or the injuries I may receive… none of that matters the only thing that does matter is if I will continue to stand… AND THE ANSWERS YES!” Gawain responds charging forward dodging a spear strike to the head before stabbing Chernabog in the stomach.
As Gawain pulls out his sword he throws a heavy punch into Chernabog’s face knocking the god back.
Immediately after the blow Gawain charges forward dragging his sword against the ground before kneeing Chernabog in the face and bringing his sword up in a massive swing cutting Chernabog’s face and leaving a massive scar to his head.
“Sunlit Surge!” Gawain calls out naming his attack then jumping back avoiding a flurry of spear jabs.
In response Chernabog rushes forward with a massive thrust before vanishing and as Gawain whirls around… the back of his throat is stabbed as Chernabog vanishes once again reappearing behind him.
As Chernabog pulls the spear out Gawain instantly whirls around cutting Chernabog’s face again.
With a smirk Gawain begins to heal the throat wound nearly collapsing before steadying himself with his sword.
“Moments like these… always make me remember why I’m a knight in the first place.” Gawain murmurs coughing up blood.

In the name of the Knights of the round table,one always stood out,Sir Gawain. He was not the strongest,fastest or most skilled but,he was the Most Honorable and Reliable of the Knights which made him King Arthur's favorite. But how did he become like this?
"Oh Shut it Arthur! I'm perfect,I am One of the Greatest Knights,why don't you want me on that round table?" A younger Gawain asked King Arthur,he was eager to join the round Table. "Now now, Gawain, you must listen, you are not ready yet,y ou still need to learn lessons before you can join." Arthur replied, making it clear That Gawain was not ready.
Gawain stormed off. The Young man was furious at how Arthur treated him like a mere boy.
“Who does he think he is! He may be the king,but I'm more than what he sees! I'm the greatest,I'm practically immortal! Yeah,I like that,Sir Gawain The immortal." Gawain ranted to himself as he wondered into a small down, before noticing a large crowd gathered in the town center...
"Step right up! Step right up! Whoever can hit me with my own blade will receive that same attack in a year or a day!" A strange Knight yelled out to the crowd, he was draped in a dark green cloak,with a helmet unlike anything Gawain had seen,he couldn't even see he face beneath the helmet..."I'll have a go." Gawain stepped up,i mmediately taking The knight's axe and beheaded the man for all to see...the head fell, but the body did not.
Time froze for Gawain as he witnessed The knight pick his head back up,not realizing the knight also took the axe and began to walk away,before turning back and speaking to Gawain "Remember, a year." Before walking off.
Gawain ran back to the kingdom,sweating with fear...all his life he'd believed himself immortal,but now,He's realizing he's not better than any other...he's Mortal.
He ran straight to Arthur and told him everything...But Arthur was calm..."You see now your own mortality,tell me,what will you do? Gain honor in hopes of being spared? Or will you try gain the immortality of the gods?" And in that moment Gawain swore to himself to become Honorable,to save his own skin...
As days turned to weeks,turned to months,Gawain's journey took a change...He lost his selfish reason for becoming Honorable,he knew his time was drawing near...so he'd put his life to good use until the day arrived...
"I know you're here." Gawain spoke out to the Green knight who showed himself.
“You have a debt" is all he spoke.
“I do,but before you take what you are owed,let me just say that I am proud. I am proud of what I became,thanks to you. You showed me that I am not immortal,proved that I am just as mortal as any other,so thank you." Gawain spoke out,calm,he had long accepted his fate,he got on his knees surrendering his head.
“Stand." Is all the knight said,and when Gawain stood,the knight removed his helmet to show... Merlin? The sorcerer’s face was covered with a white pale beard but even through that Gawain could see a smile, his eyes shine with pride, his hair rough and long yet still neatly stylized.
"What...Merlin-" Gawain spoke surprised to see the Wizard...before hearing a clapping noise.
“Congratulation, Gawain,you've proved yourself. This was just a test to see what you would do if you knew your life were to end" Arthur spoke,exiting a bush,clapping.
“You? You did this...? I feel like I should be angry,you made me think I'd die! Yet...I still feel thankful...you showed me and taught me what it meant to be Honorable even when my life would end...so Thank you." Gawain spoke...anger and thankfulness mixing into one...
"and one final thing,welcome to the Round Table." Arthur spoke,before walking off with Merlin...

“I was petty… I was selfish… I’ve changed… I’ll never be Gawain the immortal… I’M GAWAIN THE KNIGHT OF THE SUN!’ Gawain calls out getting into a fighting stance.
“BURYA TENEY!” (Storm of Shadows) Chernabog screams out rushing forward with shadows surrounding him like a spinning drill slamming into Gawain cutting him severely.
In an instant Gawain brings his sword down with such speed and efficiency that he completely cuts off Chernabog’s ear before being sent flying back.
“I doubt I can win with my spear… I’ll have to try to use it…” Chernabog thinks to himself.
“Shift oh spear of shadows…” Chernabog murmurs. In an instant the stone pieces of his spear begin to drop before reforming into a Russian Sovnya.
Revenant’s Nightmarish Blade
“WHAT IS THIS?! LORD CHERNABOG’S WEAPON HAS SHIFTED FROM A SPEAR TO A CURVED BLADE OF SOME SORTS?!” Gabriel calls out in surprise
“Bezzhalostnyye Teni!” (Merciless Shadows: Nightmare’s Razor Sharp Blade) Chernabog calls out charging forward before bringing his weapon down in a fierce strike sending a shockwave of pure destruction throughout the arena as it connects with Gawain’s blade.
“BEAR WITNESS TO MY OVERWHELMING MIGHT AND TAKE SOLACE IN KNOWING YOU WERE THE ONE TO DRAW IT OUT!” Chernabog screams out clashing with Gawain.
In an instant Chernabog falls forward which Gawain capitalizes on by slashing their side.
In response Chernabog cuts Gawain’s face leaving a massive gash.
“This is bad… if you continue healing your body will lack the stamina to continue fighting.” Helios points out to Gawain who’s panting heavily.
“Don’t worry Helios. I’ve still got a lot more in the tank!” Gawain says with a wide grin on his face as Chernabog sighs and approaches him.
Who shall be fourth?

The Rapture Chapter 5: The Shadowy Maw of Death

“Who’s going to be our second fighter?” Enlil asks a council of multiple gods in a small room.
“I shall fight and that is final!” Chernabog announces as a large spear made of metal and shadows appears in his hand with darkness engulfing the ceiling. They appear to have changed to a black robe with white accents and patterns of a skull as decoration.
“Calm Down.” Veles orders Chernabog causing him to sigh.
“The opinions of this council doesn’t matter I shall fight in the next round and that is decided!” Chernabog says walking into the hallway without looking back.

“Who’s fighting next?” Ammit asks Athena.
“That’d be me.” Chernabog responds walking past the two without casting a single glance.
“I suppose that settles it.” Athena states with a sigh.
“I’ll be fighting in the next round representing the entirety of the knights of the roundtable!” A man says swinging open a large oak door leading into a library with books half open containing different historical figures. His hair is a light green color with orange accents, he wears full red and gold knight’s armor with suns decorating his armor, attached to his wrist is a large shield.

The crowd quietly discusses who the next fighter shall be.
“LADIES AND GENTLEMEN IT’S TIME FOR OUR SECOND FIGHTTTTTT!” Gabriel announces causing the crowd to erupt in cheers.
“FIRST IS THE GODS FIGHTER! VALHALLA AND HELHEIM HAS SEVERAL DARKNESS GODS AND YET NONE COMPARE TO THIS GOD! THE ANTITHESIS OF LIGHT! THE HERALD OF SHADOWS! THE DARKEST BEING IN EXISTENCE! CHERNABOGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!” Gabriel announces as the god appears in a whirlpool of darkness and shadows.
“You’re boys finally fighting eh Veles?” Enlil murmurs in the stands.
From the other side of the arena the doors quietly open with Gawain walking out wearing a helmet and bearing a large green axe in his hand.
“LET ME ASK YOU ALL A QUESTION… WHO IS THE GREATEST KNIGHT IN HUMAN HISTORY?” Gabriel asks the stands before continuing.
IS IT THE LEGENDARY KNIGHT OF THE ROUNDTABLE LANCELOT WHO MANAGED TO BEAT GALEHAUT? NAE!” Gabriel screams out with a chorus of Knights banging on their hearts with their shields.
“OR IS IT SIR WILLIAM MARSHAL THE MOST DECORATED KNIGHT IN HISTORY? PERHAPS THE SPANISH SWORDMASTER MERCENARY EL CID? NAE I TELL YOU ALL NAE!” Gabriel says before pausing…
“THE GREATEST KNIGHT IN HISTORY IS… SIR GAWAIN THE KNIGHT OF THE SUNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!” Gabriel finishes while Gawain throws off his helmet and throws his axe into a wall revealing a green silk bandana he’s wearing around his head.
“I suppose you’re the person I shall partner with?” The god Helios says descending from the sky.
“Yeah that’d be me sorry if I don’t live up to expectations!” Gawain calls out causing Helios to sigh before taking his hand in a tight grip screaming out…
“APOTHEOSIS!”
Suddenly the arena erupts in a bright green light.
As the light clears a sword appears in Gawain’s hand with Helios gone.
“The Imperial Sun Clad Sword” (narrator moments will be like this)
“LET THE SECOND MATCH OF THE RAPTURE BEGINNNNNN!!!!!” Gabriel calls out.
“I’ll give you a challenge. If you can make me dodge a single blow you win the prize of a quick death.” Chernabog says.
“Oh I love challenges!” Gawain responds rushing forward and bringing his sword down which Chernabog blocks with his spear.
“Shit… kids stronger then I thought… BUT IT DOESN’T MATTER!” Chernabog thinks to himself managing to push Gawain back.
Gawain after landing keeps up the pressure rapidly with slash after slash until Chernabog is forced to dodge an attack aimed at his eye.
“Congrats you win! NOW DIE!” Chernabog screams out at Gawain throwing his spear which vanishes…
SPLAT! In an instant the spear reappears stabbing through Gawain’s stomachs passing by Chernabog who grabs the hilt and with a swipe cuts open the knights stomach.
“Such a shame you felt so strong and yet you were so pitifully weak.” Chernabog murmurs walking away.
“We ain’t done yet!’ Gawain screams out getting up while his open wound begins to seal itself shut.
“You can heal…” Chernabog mutters before sighing and continuing. “I SUPPOSE I’LL HAVE TO TAKE YOU APART PIECE BY PIECE!”
“Neosporimaya Smert!” (Undeniable Death) Chernabog screams out rushing forward and vanishing before stabbing Gawain’s throat with his spear from behind before jumping back.
In an instant Gawain whirls around and cuts Chernabog’s forehead severely.

“KICK HIS ASS NEPHEW!” A man calls from the stands. His hair is a bright blonde and neatly combed, his eyes are a sparkling blue color, he wears battle armor with a sheathed sword radiating power at his hip, his face is weathered with age and covered with a beard.

“Kid’s got moxie!” Another man calls out from the stands with a look of glee on his face. He wears gold armor with red shoulder guards and lion pauldrons covering his shoulders, his hair is brownish orange and unkept, his eyes shine with the energy of a feral warrior meeting an equal opponent, his face is covered mostly by a beard and weathered with age and yet he still looks young with that glare of his, where his heart would be is the symbol of a lion’s open jaws

“He must be stronger then even I thought…” Polyhymnia murmurs out loud.
“Chernabog right? Ha I know! That human’s lucky Chernabog hasn’t given it his all!” Ugur responds.
“There’s where you’re wrong. While yes Chernabog is formidable right now… he’s using 100% of his full strength and yet that human looks less exhausted and a lot healthier it’s almost frightening given the injuries he’s sustained and the fight’s barley even started!” Polyhymnia murmurs fascinated at Gawain’s endurance and stamina.
“It doesn’t matter if he looks more injured or not a god is a god and we don’t lose!” Enlil screams out shattering the left side of his throne completely and sending a shockwave through the room blowing both the other gods into a wall causing them to spit out some blood just by gripping his throne.

Chernabog in response rushes forward with rapid thrusts which Gawain begins to block before his godly opponent vanishes and he whirls around blocking a downwards cut from Chernabog and kicking Chernabog in the stomach.
“You’re such a pain in the ass!” Both fighters call out as they clash spear vs sword.
With a surge of strength Chernabog manages to overpower Gawain pushing him back before kneeing him in the face.
“BURYA TENEY!” (Storm of Shadows: Belobog Mangler!) Chernabog screams out rushing forward while spinning his spear creating a whirlwind like net of shadows around him before crashing into Gawain’s shield breaking it and slamming into his somach and sending him flying back with several cuts in his armor sending the fragments into his chest.
“Nice Hit!” Gawain calls out slowly rising as his wounds heal.
“Gran Boyni” (Carnage’s Edge: Dying Lights of Helheim) Chernabog screams out unleashing a flurry of powerful blow after blow which Gawain barely manages to avoid.
In an instant Chernabog switches from a thrust to a slash dismembering Gawain by cutting his arm clean off before getting knee kicked by Gawain as he grabs his sword with his other arm and slices Chernabog in the left side of his face leaving him semi-blind.
Gawain with a smirk stands up tall before his arm completely regenerates although he looks exhausted afterwards.

“Lady Athena how is Gawain regenerating?” The young Ammit asks confused.
“Through Apotheosis by binding one’s soul with another the weapon produced has its own unique properties. In the case of Helios the result is… the ability to convert sunlight and his own food into new cells to replace the damaged cells.” Athena calmly explains.
“So like photosynthesis with plants? But why is he so exhausted after healing his arm?” Ammit questions
“To put it simply Gawain doesn’t just use sunlight but also his own body so every time he repairs his damaged cells it uses the food he’s eaten and because of that his body is left exhausted.” Athena explains
“Wait if that’s the case then if Chernabog manages to push Gawain to heal enough wounds then he’ll die?!” Ammit asks worried.
“Yes that could happen but theres a reason I chose Gawain…“ Athena says
“Why’s that?” Ammit asks
“No matter what if he loses an arm a leg an eye or whatever Gawain will keep fighting as long as he can breathe. Through thick and thin he’ll stick to his guns no matter what… and that is why HE IS THE KNIGHT OF THE SUN AND THE STRONGEST KNIGHT IN HUMAN HISTORY!”
