Spinal fracture - having a bit of a nightmare here potentially, any advice very welcome

Hi everyone,

I fractured my spine 5 weeks ago. After our house being on the market about 4 months, we finally got an offer about 4 weeks ago and accepted. We have been looking for a house ourselves following that and found one on Friday, our offer was accepted and we provided the proof of funds and it's now sold STC.

Here's where it's now turning a bit anxiety-inducing:

- I am currently on SSP and annoyingly that didn't show on my payslip until September ended. So now my latest payslip is SSP.

- My spinal consultant told me that I can start a phased return to work in two weeks and then 'see how I feel' in regard to how quickly I can get back to full time. I have another x-ray in two weeks to see how it's healing. I intend to return to work full time in the next 4 weeks and do lighter tasks (annoyingly I'm a gardener so I can't just return now)

- I'm going to meet with my manager tomorrow and discuss this and put a return plan together. Will a lender accept a letter from my employer outlining that I am still employed, my return schedule, my monthly pay etc?

This has all just come at the very worst time... And to make matters worse our own estate agent has just sent us a text today asking if we've got our mortgage application sorted (it's been 48 hours and a weekend since we had our offer accepted) and threatened to tell our buyers that there could be issues with the mortgage as it's 'not morally right'. I was pretty shocked to be honest and it's thrown me into total anxiety as I'm not actually sure there will be an issue with the mortgage yet. Also bearing in mind we do have the option with one lender to just accept my partner's income alone instead.

What would you advise in this situation?

Thanks so much.

*edit - just to add I've been completely transparent with our estate agent and my timeline of recovery and return to work and keeping her updated fully. So I'm not sure why she's suddenly freaking out and throwing accusations around*

Spinal Fracture - phased return to work query

Hi everyone,

I've fractured my spine and am on week 5 of recovery.

I have a manual job and need to be a bit more careful when returning to work as a result.

The consultant was quite laid back when I last spoke to him 2 weeks ago and said I could start phasing my return at week 7 and didn't give me any more guidance other than 'see how you go and how you feel, only you know how it feels'

Yet to speak to my employer but I'd like to suggest a phased return like this:

- Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, mornings only for the first week

- Monday - Friday mornings only for 2 weeks following

- back to full time on the 4th week

*My questions to you all:

- Do I need to get a sick note to state I need a phased return or can me and my employer just discuss and agree to that between ourselves?

- When I'm phasing back, am I still entitled to any SSP or does that stop as soon as I start working in any capacity again?*

Thanks everyone!

God talk

Maybe it's because I'm from the UK and all the God talk isn't common here but I do laugh a little bit when things like 'The lord is choosing to use me in this way' and that sort of thing...... The lord is asking you to be a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys football team? To spread his word? The word of god? Through pom poms and Thunderstruck? Lol it's just so funny.

I think they're all amazing and talented and very committed but stop trying to make it deeper than it is lol, you want to cheer and you want to dance. That's okay. I don't think white cowboy boots were worn by Jesus when he spread the word lmao. He wasn't in sparkly hot pants doing the splits turning water into wine.

Just pulled this 'Mega Zeraora ex' from a pack

I started buying the odd pack here and there again whenever I see them at a shop/supermarket. I used to collect as a child, so a lot of the packs I see now contain Pokémon I have absolutely no idea about haha. I just like the nostalgia of collecting and buying packs.

Anyway I just got this out of a pack, it looks so special. A beautiful card! Is it special or no?

Selling home - viewers constantly cancelling

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out if this is a universal issue and people are just inconsiderate or if this is an issue with our estate agent not vetting people well enough?

We're having around 60-70% of our booked viewings cancelled by the viewers. For example, we had two separate viewings booked in this morning and after spending a couple of hours tidying and cleaning the house last night I've woken up to a message from the estate agent saying BOTH viewers have cancelled? What are the chances?

Previous viewers have cancelled last minute too.

Is this an inconsiderate general public issue or estate agent issue? I understand she isn't psychic and things happen but it's getting a bit of a pain in the ass and a waste of our time tidying and cleaning only for cancellations to occur.

I haven't sold before so I'm unsure if this is normal procedure?

Let me know your experiences! :) thanks!

I'm in the UK and have been having a look around, it's quite pricey here at around £3-£4000 for both legs. These are only the very beginning of VV, nothing too noticeable, but I'd like to get rid of them before they start really popping.

Any advice very welcome.
