RIP Hydreigon, holy shit

I've always regretted evolving my starter Pokémon. In PMD 1, PMD 2, and PMDDX (I don't know about the other games). Maybe it's just me, but once you evolve them, they seem to lose their personality. In PMD 1 and 2, they lose their portrait icon, and you don’t get a single cutscene with them anymore. They no longer act at all like the person you played the entire main story alongside. They become replaceable, silent NPCs. And in the remake, they even lose their scarf, which robs them of any distinguishing feature. That made me pretty sad as a kid, and I immediately regretted the development choice. And even as an adult, I don’t understand this decision. Is it due to a lack of development time, or was there some subliminal message they wanted to convey? I don’t know.
