Double or Nothing possible happening

What if Sting interferes on MJF's behalf at Double or Nothing? Sting comes out and double-crosses Darby. The reason is just that Sting is worried about Darby's health. Too many title defenses, too many dangerous moves, etc. Out of concern, he wants Darby to take some time off and Sting knows he'll never do that while holding the title.

But the second twist is that Sting (since he is responsible for the loss and it comes from a benevolent place) agrees to have his own head shaved instead of Darby's.

Not saying this will happen, but it'd be a huge angle if it did. It's almost too good for AEW not to do it. Thoughts?

Possible Crossover Opportunity

I'd love to see some other shows crossover with OMITB and now that this upcoming season will be in England, it would be a PRIME OPPORTUNITY to do a Ted Lasso crossover. Can you imagine Steve Martin and Martin Short playing off of Jason Sudekis? Pure comedy. They could commiserate about being Americans in England. Plus, maybe there'd be a clue at the Richmond stadium or something. I even think the Jamie Tartt character could have a relationship with Selena Gomez's character. So much you could do with character interactions!

Plus, how cool would it be if then Martin Short and Steve Martin could end up doing a cameo on the next Ted Lasso season (apparently it is coming back).

Anyone want to see a Ted Lasso crossover? Or a crossover with some other show?

The Peach Pit spin-off

I wish they'd made the Peach Pit spinoff show. I think the idea of having Nat interact with new guest stars every week and him working to solve mysteries, kind of like a Columbo type, would have been lots of fun. It could have been like Love Boat meets Columbo.

Sadly, Tata did not get the chance to star in that vehicle.

Indianapolis Basketball Radio

Not sure where to post this question, but this was my best guess cuz it is NBA/Indianapolis related.

I'm in Indy for the night. Is there an app I can get on my phone to listen to the radio broadcast of the Thunder-Spurs for free on my phone?

Thanks!

Neal Cassady at the 500

In On The Road Kerouac writes that Dean Moriarty went to the 1944 Indy 500. Dean is, of course, just a stand in for Neal Cassady, because that's how that novel works. Basically, Kerouac just takes real people and real things they did/said and changes their names.

So in this case, does anyone happen to know if Neal Cassady really went to the Indy 500 back in '44? Thanks!

Pacers home Crowds, I tell you what

Anybody notice how dead the Pistons home crowd was last night for their game? Close regulation. OT. And the fans were just dead. There was a camera angle where the Cavs were shooting a critical free throw and most of the Pistons fans behind the basket weren't even standing. People were filing out before it was definitely in the bag for Cleveland.

I tell you what, we're blessed to have such a passionate, raucous fan base here in Indy. Ask any player, it really does help the Pacers and spook opponents when you play in a lively Fieldhouse environment.

It all Comes Down to Ownership

Alex Golden had a piece on Sports Illustrated yesterday that ended with "If it truly is championship-or-bust time for Indiana, ownership must be willing to enter the luxury tax, and potentially even the first apron, if it gives this team the best chance to contend for a title."

He's exactly right. It's always the same thing with this organization and that thing is that our owner doesn't want to spend money to win. He'll gladly take fans' money. And he'll gladly take taxpayer money to build or upgrade an arena. But he's less enthusiastic about spending money to win try to win a championship.

KP is an incredible GM. Works magic constantly. But wouldn't it be nice if he didn't have to?

It'd be awesome to someday have an owner who sees the Pacers as a basketball team first and an investment second. Because until that happens we'll keep having to cobble together amazing rosters and eventually even KP's "luck" will run out...this draft lottery is a prime example.

And, sure, money doesn't necessarily win championships...but in the NBA it typically is a big part of it.

Aleister Black/Malakai Black if he goes back to AEW

I think the general feel is that maybe the Aleister/Malakai Black persona is wearing thin or needs a new "paint of coat" as Bruce Prichard would say. So if he returns to AEW I think a good idea would be to repackage him.

My idea is to go with the name Mr. Black. He'd wear a tie (think Irwin R. Schyster) and present himself as a generic, serious-minded businessman. From there he could "hire" other wrestlers to join his "firm." A faction would form.

Then, slowly but surely, he'd morph into a goth businessman and later a sinister businessman. This would allow him to revert back to his roots, but it could also double as a criticism of/commentary on corporate America/capitalism.

If done well, this would be huge.

Just kind of a thought experiment, off the top of your head kind of thing...

What would you say is the best (or your favorite) pro wrestling match that stayed entirely in the ring? None of the competitors left the ring (on the apron is ok), no one went to the outside.

For the sake of this discussion, let's not include cage matches, hell in a cell, etc. where you typically can't leave the ring.

▲ 26 r/CFL

Last night I was watching an old pro wrestling PPV - WCW SuperBrawl II - and during the main event announcer Jim Ross said that Lex Luger held the distinction of being the youngest player to ever start in a CFL game.

Luger's real name is Lawrence Pfohl and he played for Montreal. I believe his rookie season was 1979.

SuperBrawl II was in February of 1992. So my question is does anyone know if Luger truly was the youngest player to ever start in a CFL game? If not now, at least as of back in 1992?

Thanks!

In WWE it used to be that you'd get paydays/payouts based on the house draw and your placement on the card, etc. So if you headlined Mania you'd get a big chunk. Midcard, less, etc. You'd make more if you got on a PPV card than if you were on a house show. So, if only for financial reasons, you'd want to be included on big event cards.

How does all that work now? Do guys just have set salaries and that's that? Is there any pay bump for getting to wrestle on a Mania card, for example?

I'd love to see Kofi and Woods show up in AEW and I'm assuming neither will be allowed to use Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods as their ring names.

So I had a good idea for a gimmick they could use if they show up in AEW - Holmes & Watson.

Kofi could be called Kingston Holmes and Woods could used his real name Austin Watson. Then they could be a tag team who also solves mysteries. They'd be involved in a lot of backstage stuff, etc.

Seems like it would be over with the crowd. Thoughts?

Wikipedia says there have been 79 members of nWo over the years, but if you read the rest of the article and count everyone listed (including people like Kyle Petty and the Japanese members) it doesn't add up to 79.

Anyone have a complete list of EVERY nWo member ever?

The police station really stood out to me during this show. The lobby or waiting room where Richard Jenkins interviewed Saarsgard once and also I think Bateman once looked like the set of a fantasy show...like a big old concrete castle type place.

The room where both cops watch like 8 video monitors with footage from the night of the death seemed almost comically high-tech. It looked like the room where the government tracks Jason Bourne. Or it was like a situation room for the military or a space launch center.

In short, the scenes in various parts of the police department seemed way out of place and kind of less realistic to me than the rest of the show, which mostly took place in "regular looking" St. Louis.

Did anyone else think this? Was that intentional and if so why? To me it seemed like a comic effect, but I'm not sure it was intended that way.

I sometimes like to daydream about what the 90210 characters would be up to now in 2026. I think about Brandon maybe working as a D.C. political consultant. I imagine Steve is divorced, but still living his best life. I think Valerie has settled down back in Buffalo. Those are just my ideas...

Anyway, I struggle when I try to think about what Brenda and Dylan would be up to. I can't get past the mental hurdle of the actors being dead. (RIP)

I guess my daydreams are sort of based on the idea/hope/dream that the show might get a revival and it wouldn't be realistic that Brenda or Dylan could be on a new show.

Anyway, any of you guys daydream like that? And if so, how do you reconcile the realities of death with the future of the characters?

Also, do you know of any good online fan fiction that covers "modern day" 90210?

Thanks!

I got a lot of good feedback about my recent post noting the comparisons between the 1st Round of this year's NFL Draft and 90210, so here are some for the UPCOMING CFL Draft (and remember Jason P. is from Canada!). These names are some of the prospects expected to get picked. Please chime in if you know of others I missed!

Dylan Djete - Dylan McKay

Spencer Walsh - WALSH Family

Matt Sibley - remember the lawyer boyfriend named Matt?

Steve Kpehe - Steve Sanders

Pretty wild!
