Anyone else prefer TV Time’s top bar?

Anyone else prefer TV Time’s top bar?

Idk what you guys think, but personally I feel like TV Time’s top bar is way clearer than Bingers’ current one.

With Bingers, it’s basically just the calendar icon, while TV Time actually shows the labels, so it’s much easier to tell what everything is at a glance.

Also feels like a bit of a waste to have that much space at the top just for the calendar and filter icons. Maybe the filter button could be placed next to the “Watch Next” text instead?

Would love to see something like TV Time’s layout for the top bar. What do you guys think?

Search doesn’t handle special characters well

I’ve noticed that search doesn’t return results for titles containing special characters or punctuation.

For example:
Searching “Wall·E” as “wall e” only returns people with the surname “Wall” instead of the movie.
Searching “Les Misérables” as “less miserables” (or without the correct accent/punctuation) returns no results.

It would be great if search were more forgiving by normalizing titles—ignoring punctuation, special characters, accents, and treating separators (·, :, -, etc.) as spaces. That way users can still find titles even if they don’t type the exact formatting.

This would make searching much more intuitive.

How to solve this 2x issue

I’m importing my data from TV Time using the GDPR export, and I’m also importing from Trakt because it has my more recent watch history. However, it ends up logging all of my movies twice, while my TV shows import just fine.

What’s the difference

Genuine question.

I’m a bit confused about the purpose of For Later and Up Next. To me, they seem to overlap quite a bit.

If I want to watch something in the future, I’d naturally just add it to my Wishlist. Then, when I’m actually ready to watch it, I’d mark it as In Progress.

So what’s the intended workflow for having separate For Later, Up Next, and Wishlist lists?

Wouldn’t it be simpler to merge For Later and Up Next into Wishlist, or is there a specific use case I’m missing?

I’d love to hear how everyone else uses these shelves.

This is why episode comments are so addictive

This comment is the perfect example of why episode comments are so much fun to read.

Someone spotted the Patsy Cline poster and immediately connected it to her tragic plane crash, then started predicting what might happen next.

Whether the theory ends up being right or wrong doesn’t even matter. Half the fun is seeing everyone’s predictions, then rushing into the next episode to find out what actually happens. It somehow makes the cliffhanger even stronger because now you’re carrying everyone else’s theories into the next episode.

Empty Database doesn't clear Sofa Time account database?

I accidentally imported a library with incorrect watch history. Around 200–300 movies and TV shows ended up with the same watch date, even though I know they weren't actually watched on that day.

I decided to start over by using Empty Database.

It cleared the local database (and iCloud), but the database linked to my Sofa Time account (Google login) is still there. Every time I sync back into my account, all the data gets synced back, even though I tried syncing from the local database first.

Is there any way to completely wipe the cloud database associated with my Sofa Time account so I can start fresh?

Thanks!

Suggestion: Add optional reactions and favorite character when rating an episode

I think it would be a fun addition if, after rating an episode, users could optionally select:

- How did you feel? (e.g. Shocked, Sad, Thrilled, Confused, etc.)
- Favorite character from that episode.

These wouldn’t replace ratings—they’d simply add more context to each watch log and make logging episodes feel more personal and engaging.

It could also open up some interesting stats in the future, like:
- Your most common reactions.
- Characters you’ve picked as your favorite the most.
- Episode pages showing the community’s most selected reactions and favorite characters.

Of course, both should be completely optional for users who just want to log and rate episodes.

Suggestion: Show outlined stars for unrated episodes

I have a small UX suggestion regarding episode ratings.

Right now, when an episode hasn't been rated, there's no visual indication that a rating can be added. Unless you already know where to look, it's easy to assume episode ratings aren't available.

It would be nice to display the empty star rating control on the episode detail page, matching the user's rating preference (10 stars by default, or 5 stars if they've changed it in Settings).

Tapping the rating control could continue to open the existing Watch Date sheet, so the current workflow wouldn't need to change. The empty stars would simply act as a visual cue that the episode is rateable.

I actually thought episode ratings weren't supported until I accidentally found them in the Watch Date sheet. A small change like this would make the feature much more discoverable for new users while keeping the UI consistent with episodes that already have a rating.

Some UX suggestions for Watchlist, Favorites and Lists

I’ve been using Sofa Time for quite a while now and really enjoy the app. I have a few UX suggestions that I think could make the experience even smoother.

1. Add a built-in Favorite feature
At the moment, the only way to mark something as a favorite is by creating a custom list (that’s what I’m currently doing).
I think Favorites deserve to be a built-in feature instead of just another list. They’re more of a personal status than a collection, similar to Watchlist or History.
A simple heart button on the movie or TV show detail page would make favoriting much faster and would eliminate the need to create separate “Favorite Movies” and “Favorite Shows” lists.

2. Make Watchlist a one-tap action
Adding something to the Watchlist is probably one of the most common actions in the app.
Currently, I have to open the Lists sheet first and then enable the Watchlist toggle. Since “Add to History” already has its own dedicated button on the detail page, I think Watchlist deserves the same treatment.
Having a dedicated Watchlist button would reduce the number of taps and make the workflow much faster.

3. Use checkboxes instead of toggle switches in the list picker
The current switches feel more like they’re enabling or disabling settings.
Since this screen is simply asking which lists an item should belong to, checkboxes would communicate that action more clearly. They also make it easier to understand that an item can belong to multiple lists at the same time.

Overall, I think these are relatively small changes, but they would make the app feel more intuitive, consistent, and efficient.
Thanks for all the work you’ve put into Sofa Time!

Suggestion: Use scrolling text for long song titles instead of shrinking the font

Not sure if this bothers anyone else, but long song titles currently get scaled down quite a bit to fit on one line.

Personally, I’d prefer a scrolling/marquee effect when the title is longer than the available space. It would keep the font size consistent and make long titles much easier to read.

Example from my library:
“Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want (2011 Remaster)”

Currently the title becomes much smaller than the artist text. A scrolling title might look cleaner and improve readability.

Just a small suggestion. Love the app otherwise! 👍

Question/Suggestion: Why is playlist sorting case-sensitive?

Hey 👋

I noticed playlist sorting in Arpeggi seems to be case-sensitive. So playlists starting with uppercase letters appear separately from lowercase ones, which makes the order feel a bit inconsistent.

For example:
“Y2K Era”
“daily”

don’t sort the way most users would probably expect in alphabetical order.

Is there a specific reason for this behavior?
Would it be possible to make sorting case-insensitive instead, so uppercase/lowercase are treated the same?

I think it would make large playlist libraries feel much cleaner and easier to browse. Example attached 👇

Request: Collapsible/Shortened Artist Bio

Hey, first of all loving Arpeggi so far 🙌

I wanted to suggest a small UI/UX improvement for artist bios. Right now the full bio is displayed immediately, and for artists with really long bios it takes up a lot of space while scrolling.

Maybe it could work more like:
- show only the first few lines / short preview
- then add a “Read more” / “Show more” button to expand the full bio

Something similar to how Spotify or other music apps handle long descriptions.

I think it would make the artist page feel cleaner and easier to navigate, especially on mobile.
