I'm(23f) insecure of his (23m) female friend

I find myself in a very wierd situation, and two of my best friends have given me conflicting advices. I'll decide what I should do myself only but I'm just looking for an outsider perspective on this, in case there's something I'm missing. This is why I'm sharing this.

My bf and I have been together for six months now, and there's a female friend of his who is kind of close to him. Normally i wouldn't care but she makes me feel a little too insecure. I've told this to him as well and he has assured me that there's nothing between them and they've literally just been good friends for the last six years. He's never been attracted to her that way. And I'm the only girl he loves. But... There's some things that make me feel a little too wierd. And I don't know if asking him to cut her off completely is a good idea or a red flag for me. I haven't yet, but he knows that I'm uncomfortable with her. So he has stopped talking about her completely now.

I'll list this in points so that it's easier to read:

  1. All of us work in the same field. She stays in a different city from the both of us. Their friendship has been online mostly, and they've met only twice unitl now
  2. They talk on a monthly or a bimonthly basis and just keep each other updated mostly. They have the same hobbies, love the same kind of books and YouTube videos so they share that with each ther mostly when they talk.
  3. He has never trauma bonded with her. He says they have similar opinions on a lot of things but she never shares her problems or anything like that with him. There was a month during which she lost a family member, went through a breakup and had some other family and job issue all at the same time and he got to know about it only two months later when he asked. She never reached out to him for help and when asked also she told everything in one sentence, like she was over it and didn't need anything.
  4. Six years. I can't compete with that.
  5. When he was in his first relationship, and she was in hers, they did talk about it with each other. His ex was a little too manipulative and he somehow let that slip in the conversation. She didn't really give any advice, just said something like you guys will figure it out. Didn't apparently say anything negetive about her bf at the time to him either. Not about any of her breakups. I think she doens't trust him with her dating life or maybe she's just a private person.
  6. The problem now is she is planning to go to a city close to ours for a workshop. She told it to him over text and he said sure I'll confirm and tell if I can meet. She basically said something like I'm travelling so far please you absolutely have to come. He hasn't decided yet.

I told him to do whatever he wants to. He told me if I have a problem with her then he won't go. I didn't say anything yet. We don't know each other for years for me to tell him to cut her off. And she hasn't done anything wierd too maybe. I don't know.

I really don't understand what I should do.

edit: He didn't exactly show me his texts with her but after she said about the stuff that was going on that month (point 3) he told her if she needs anything he's there for her. and she said same. idk what to make out of that, but maybe that's considered okay..

About the IISc medical school

Guys I just want to know if any of you have any idea about when they're planning to start. I remember looking it up back in 2024 and had my eyes set for it, now this year I've already gotten my mbbs degree and it looks like they're still not accepting admissions (acc to the website). I remember back then the speculation was mid 2026 but here we are :/. Do any of the students here know when it's starting?

Post-intern doctors please help provide a second opinion

This is just for the post intern docs, please hear me out.. my dad had watery diarrhoea three days ago. He had eaten a sandwich from his office and had protein powder and milk in the morning, that's it. I assumed it was cause of the sandwich and told him to take o2 tablets, pan 40 and ors. There was a slight fever but no other complaints.

Since I'm the only doctor in the family everyone kind of takes my word seriously, so he did that. Otherwise he's never the person to like taking meds. He'll fight it out as much as possible first. It got better a day later but two days later ie today, it's back to the same as day 1. No improvement.

I'm assuming maybe the antibiotics triggered it so I told him to stop for the time being, he's taken it only for two days. There's no clinic open today cause it's a Sunday. I feel really bad because I think me telling him to have the antibiotics actually might have caused it. I feel so guilty. Every time they had a medical complaint before I've told them to go and see an actual physician instead of me because I was just a student. Now the very thing I told him to do has worsened it..

I've told him to just take ors for now. I'm just very scared because it might be c diffice. I don't know why I trusted myself with this. We're going to a clinic that opens tomorrow but for today does anyone have any idea what we can do for now?

Rant about how my prep is going after gt 19 and suffering from a massive existential crisis.

This is just a rant about the whole prep phase for me, ignore it guys go back to studying. I just needed to write it down somewhere so that I can atleast put to words all the things that I'm feeling.

My internship got over in April and I spent practically the last two months doing absolutely nothing in terms of studying. I got too caught over feeling emotional over a breakup and being with my friends and the residents in my hospital for the last time. I regret that, in a way. Maybe if I had continued the streak of studying everyday I would have done well in inicet.

After I got a rank of 20k in inicet may this year I realised that this has to be rock bottom. There's no way to go from here but up. And I studied diligently for the next two months. Score went from 104 to ~130 corrects in marrow gts. Until they changed the stupid pattern. Got only 110 in gt 19. And that was my breaking point.

One of my parents had a surgery last month and soon after that one of my relatives passed away. I went to my native place after a long time for all those rituals and felt so numb for some reason. I was studying per usual and trying hard but I'd get really emotional sometimes and blame myself and spiral on some nights. That's been normal for me since mbbs so I guess it's fine but when you're unemployed and know that you're not getting anywhere in life I guess it hits different (atleast during mbbs I knew I was passing exams and getting somewhere).

The breakup and everything related to my parents (my home is a very difficult place to stay in. Mom taunts me for things I don't even have control over. She's said so many things judging my character or my decisions I don't want to talk about it but it's been very difficult. My dad is on psych meds, and I feel everyday that he's getting worse. We've a doctor appointment this weekend) is just so much to handle alone. I needed someone to support me or be there with me and this would have been so much easier. But I broke up with that very person during internship and while I know it was the right decision it eats me up everyday.

My friend videocall me some days when everyone is free and it's obviously not my place to complain and tell how hard my life is because I know no one has it easy. Those few days make me feel a little happy though. Even if it's for a few minutes.

I know my dream branch since second year of my mbbs and I really wanted to get there because of the appreciation and live I have for the doctors there. But now, I just want to get out of home. Anywhere, really. I can never forget the things my mom has told me so far and every time she enters my room I get so anxious. Like what is she going to say now that I'm going to spiral over. I can't deal with this everyday for the next year. I have to get out.

Which is why gt 19 broke me. I don't know what I did to screw up, it was an easy paper. I made a few silly miskeas but I just wasn't able to recall most things properly. I sat there at my table for one whole hour with my hands on my head just after the score flashed on my scree. No way I'm getting anywhere close to where I want to be.

This exam is so unpredictable. So demanding. And just so many ways it can screw you over. I hate how my life depends on this. It hurts a little when I see reservations or people with other quotas because I just know that if I had any sort of unfair advantage of use it too. I wish I did. Or maybe I just wish I was better than what I am now.

I was watching emma watson's interview lately and everything she said about love or career or writing or her acting everything just made me rethink my life so far. I'd read a book on Bayesian analysis in ninth grade. I was an active math stack exchange user after neet ug. I had a diary with a diagram of every single lantana americana I saw that made me feel like it's unique. I contacted a prof in Oxford and we exchanged emails on how to read some astrophysics concept back in ninth grade. Topped all my exams throught mid/high school just to make my parents happy. Lost so many friends in the process. It's so easy for someone with resources to tell you to do what you love. I loved the observership I did in my dream branch in third year. I loved the community there. I wish I could. I wish my country did not value my potential as a doctor based on 180 mcqs. I wish.

My brother was telling me how he'd leave his 30lpa job soon enough because he doesn't like a 9-5. I said okay. Internally I wished that if I had that choice if never, ever in my life consider leaving. I'd do anything to stay. I just don't have that option.

I promised myself I'll keep studying per usual for this last month and we'll see where that takes us. Everyone has a hard life, so much harder than mine for sure. And everyone finds a way out. I think I've internalised the hate so much that I might not get there unless I get some light into getting out of this home for now. I hope I somehow make it but everything is very dim right now. Hope y'all are doing better. Good luck.

Have never answered back to my parents or stood up for myself. I don't even think I want to anymore.

I'm (24F) tired of living with my mom. My dad doens't really care to indulge in my life that much so I don't have much to say about him. But I've had his share of misogynistic remarks about my habits (staying in my room to study instead of talking to relatives on the phone urged him to tell me once that is this how I'm going to be with my husband. We'll get you married off soon so that you can stop developing an attitude like this.) or dressing sense. But anyway. This is about my mom.

For context I've finished my mbbs (undergrad program for doctors in my country) and am at home for preparing for my Post grad entrance exam. I'm here until the end of August and ever since I came (in June) she's made it her life's mission to get irritated with me and scorn at me for things that aren't supposed to be her buisness.

Talking with my bf on the phone for 20 mins at night after studying all day is a problem for her (I know what you do all night. I know him. Keep doing this shit. Don't respect the people who cared for you since you were born)

Yes that is exactly what she said translated to English. She literally thinks that me talking with him is somehow a crime in this house.

Dad has financial issues rn so he's a bit stressed and he tells her which she takes it out on me. Why can't I arrange breakfast for him. Why can't I do the laundry. Am I a hotel guest.

And I corrected all my behaviours. I prepared lunch, I spent time deciding dinner this week, I do my laundry myself lest it irritates her to see my clothes. She's made remarks about me being a bitchy doctor, about me not knowing anything. Called me a slut because I'm dating someone new (had a breakup a year ago and she thinks I'm running through men and using them).

She can't withstand even talking to me normally. But she won't do any of this with my brother.

He has an internship so he's getting paid, and spends all his time either at office or with his friends. He's here only during dinner and to sleep and maybe that's why she can tolerate him.

I literally only come out of my room to fill my water bottle and join them for food at the dinner table. My bf somehow defends her and that has disturbed me so much. I've been crying all week because it's so hard doing this exam prep with literally no one behind you. No one to support you and wish the best for.

I stay quiet through everything. I've never spoken up for myself. I've never defended myself. She called me a selfish daughter today because I had no idea dad didn't sleep last night. Made me ask him in front of her. He didn't care much but I doubt he sees all this happening in the midst of his problems.

Can't tell any of my friends this because it's family stuff, will leave a bad impression of my mom in them. I'm so tired. I'm so done with everything.

I'm just pushing myself to study everyday and do better because I want to get out of this house. I'm never coming back. If for some reason I have to, and if my future doens't pan out in a way that keeps me away from this family, and forces me to stay with her, I've considered ending my life. I've dealt with this woman since I was thirteen trying to demean me everywhere possible. I'm not going to continue doing this for the rest of my life.

My first relationship and how I screwed it up.

Started dating the first guy who seemed to show some interest in me when I was 18. We were friends for a year before that and dated for three years.

Since the start, I knew I wasn't attracted to him (you understand right in what way). But we were only friends then so it seemed fine. There were times when I realised that he was being a little too comfortable for a friend, and times where he slipped and said something that meant that he needed more than just friendship, and I brushed it off everytime because I wasn't sure if I genuinely loved him that way.

After one year I realised that this guy is perfect. He had already proposed and i had deflected the first time and now I had realised that this is what love is. Love is hardwork. Love is being there for someone no matter what. And love means choosing them every single time because they've done so much for you.

He was hardworking, smart, caring and I knew he would be a good husband some day. We started dating. I thought that with time, i would begin to "like" him that way.

Since it was long distance it took me a long time to realise. But eventually I did. I still wasn't attracted to him that way. My brain still saw him as a good friend I loved. I tried so hard to enjoy the kisses and the hugs but something never felt right.

I can't tell you how many journal entries I would have written during this time. Nothing in my life was going right and he was the only person I had. His personal and work life was screwed up too, and I made sure to be there for him even after my hectic shifts at the hospital.

I desperately wanted to make things work. I genuinely wanted to "want" him, and not pretend to.

I hated myself so much for not falling in love with him like he did for me.

I knew that I had to make a decision. Either live my entire life with him perfectly knowing well that I may never be able to enjoy anything physical, or leave him and deal with every shitty problem in life all alone.

I chose the latter. Why? Because of him. How unfair would it be to be with someone you love so desperately but she doesn't love you that way? She tries hard everyday to enjoy being with you, but is this even a thing you should be working hard on? You crave for her, you love every time she touches you or hugs you or kisses you

But she doesn't feel the same way. How would it be like knowing this everytime you touch?

I am in a horrible place right now, my job sucks the soul out of me and I know that it would have been a thousand times better if he was with me. But I also know that it would be unfair for him. I hope he finds all the success in his life and gets to do whatever he sets his eyes to.

I come from a very conservative family and my mom was so unhappy when she got to know I broke up. Everybody thought we were perfect. "He genuinely loved you. You won't find anyone else, you know that right?" She says.

She'd never understand my reasons for it and I don't want to live up to anyone's expectations anymore.

What I've been doing post INI (excluding a breakdown obv)

Made these really pretty post cards to put up on my wall to add imp/volatile points (for the next exam obv, I flunked this one). I was getting tired of the same five colour neon sticky notes staring back at me always so had a Lil fun. Best two hours spent in the last entire month lol I love painting so much (I miss my inner child). What have y'all been doing to de-stress?
