Thoughts on Z fold 8 ultra after 2 weeks

Thoughts on Z fold 8 ultra after 2 weeks

So its been 2 weeks since getting the 8 Ultra and I love it. Worth trading in my S25 Plus for the $1,900 carrier promo credit. At 6.5in display and having the same width as the base s26 for the front display makes it a very solid day to day phone without having to open all the time like the previous models. I've owned the fold 3, fold 4, fold 6 and pretty much every S ultra lines with some pluses in between.

Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones but I've never had any issues with heating or screen displays. People freak out about peeling the inner screen protector but that's the first thing I did was replace it with a matte screen protector. At first I had put the privacy protector on the inner screen then changed it to just a matte one which works great. Visibility is awesome just as long you get a high quality one, i hate glares. But in my front screen I do have the privacy matte protector and have no complaints.(DOES NOT RUIN YOUR SCREEN TAKING OFF YOUR INNER SCREEN PROTECTOR AND DOES NOT VOID YOUR SAMSUNG WARRANTY)

I've ran multiple applications, gaming, be on video call while charging, ran apps like Rave that would usually heat up phones and it has stayed cool the whole time. Game extended periods and the cooling on it has been great.

My honeymoon phase for any phone goes away after like an hour of receiving it so this is a phone I can definitely recommend if you want a foldable. You can't go wrong with the 8 wide either but after playing with it multiple times, I liked the ultra feel better. This is probably the first Samsung Foldable that's worth keeping a couple of years if your not the type of person to upgrade all the time and take advantage of your carrier deals, people talk about how expensive it is but who really pays full price. I'm only in the phone for $200 overall.

If the fold is not your cup of tea and looking to upgrade, wait for the s27 ultra which would have alot of the cons from the s26 ultra worked out. S26u runs a little warm compared to my fold 8 ultra but I'm sure it gets fixed with the s27u like what samsung has always done. Fold 7 little warm but it got fixed with the fold 8 ultra models. I always advice people to wait 1 model after any major changes with any phone company and take advantage of preorders.

Shokz Openrun Pro 2

This is my thoughts on the new Shokz Openrun 2 bone conducting headphones. As you can tell from the name, this was made for runners who wants to keep aware of the surroundings without having to lose music clarity and this was made just for that.

Box includes the following:

1- Case

1- Shokz Openrun pro 2 headphones

1- USB C cable

1- Serial number card

1- Manual

Box alone is super nice but then when you open, you're greeted by the hard case where the headphones sit if you aren't using it. It's just a case, nothing fancy like wireless charging for the headphones but it does store not just the headphones but also the charging wire.

Pop it out the box and open then you're greeted by the headphones. The headphones does come with some charge and in my case it was around 60%. Pairing it with my phone, projector for movies, and computer are quick and easy.

So, this headphones when you put it on just goes around your ear close by the ear canals on both side and the band goes around the back part of your head. This was my first time using bone conducting technology and I can say it's worth it. If you are a person where cartilage fatigue on or in your ear hurts like mine then this might be a solution for you for long periods. The sound is great for what it's intended for, the mic is clear for whoever your talk to, and the back ground noise cancelation works great during calls for the other side. Don't expect it to cancel noise for you unless you wear earplugs, so if you need music at work that requires an earplugs the whole time then I can see a good use for this.

It's been a couple of days and I love it. Takes an hour to charge and was able to get at least 8 hours of use from it nonstop. I haven't had a chance to push it all the way to the end of its battery life before charging.

My gripes is the band that goes around your head, it hangs out and it should be adjustable so it can hug your head which would make it more comfortable to wear. I got the standard based on what the fit guide was suggesting but maybe the mini would have been better.

My score for it would be 3.5 out of 5. The bone conduction could be better for louder environments but I'm not so loud environment, these are excellent and the band could be adjustable to accommodate all types of head shape.

Torras Q3 Spin case for Z Fold 8 Ultra review

So today the Torras Q3 Spin case arrived and this is my thoughts on it.

Now the presentation for the box is really well done, you can tell that they want you to experience that this isn't just another cheap experience and quality case you can find in Amazon but a premium product.

Inside the box include:

1- Front Case

1- Rear Case

2- Screen cleaning kit

2- HD clear screen protector

1- Quick Guide Pamphlet

So, I want to get the full experience and took off outer screen protector I already had installed. In the screen cleaning kit comes with your typical dust removal sticker, alcohol wipe, and your microfiber towel.

Now it did take me two attempts to get the screen protector to sit perfectly, first time moved a bit when I laid it down and lifted it, laid it back down and notice a dust particle. Knowing that this would annoy me, i went ahead and used the other one after recleaning the screen. This could be a lot easier if there was an outer guide tab so adjusting before laying it down on the screen like other screen protectors.

Once laid down it does what it's supposed to do but be aware that this screen protector isn't anti glare nor have the anti-fingerprint coating. You would pretty much carry a little microfiber towel to keep it clean, which for some people it's not a big deal but for me i enjoy my matte screen protectors due to anti glare and anti fingerprint coating. Touch response is good and no other thoughts about it.

Now the case, installing it is as easy as popping them in. I do like the feeling of the material and has a good grip feeling. On the left side buttons where the volume and power button has plenty of space and I think its a good distance compared to my clear case. Your finger placement would not have any issues when accessing the fingerprint sensor.

The hinge protector is spring tension so it will keep a good pressure without it moving when the phone is in tablet mode. Hinge is pretty low profile so it's not overly awkward with your fingers holding the phone open Does have a grip texture which helps to grip when holding it with one hand when the phone is open. The case even though is a full protection still keeps everything very minimal so with that in mind doesn't bulk up the phone like putting on a Iron man armor on.

The case does have a stand built in with a combination of magsafe. Simply pull it out to an angle you want and enjoy your viewing. The stand also swivels so you could also adjust based on what viewing angle you want. I do use a magsafe wallet, stand, and other things that require a magsafe to use. The magsafe is excellent and no doubt wouldn't worry about my wallet falling out or my phone dropping when I have it on my stand.

My rating on this case from Torras is a solid 5 out of 5 and the screen protectors a 3 out of 5. So overall a 4/5. Maybe I'm just nitpicking but wouldn't it be awesome to include a guide for the screen protector and possibly providing one tempered matte and one gloss tempered screen protector.

Tip on your Fold 8/8 Ultra

So if yall didn't know this feature, now you know.

  1. Settings

  2. Display

  3. Camera cutout

- you are able to go through your apps and specify which app you want the camera cutout hidden on. What it basically does in black out a small strip of the screen where the camera is located and adjust the size of the app so your camera would be hidden.

Finally the fold 8 Ultra!!! and my impression.

So Finally received my cream fold8 ultra 256gb. Super excited that I've had a hard time sleeping throughout the night 😆.

Holding my s25 plus vs the fold 8 isn't that much of a noticeable difference. You literally got to be nitpicking to say you notice. Now when you open it, the hinged is definitely noticeable the way its alot more pressure compared to the fold 7.

So if you didn't notice the first thing I did after taking out the box is peeled off the screen protector on the inner screen. If you have insurance with your carrier or Samsung plus, it does not void any warranty by taking it off. Why? Cause I've installed a matte privacy screen protector for both inner and outer screen. Its not for everybody but I have glares and the ones that comes with it still is noticeable to me. Playing games also is alot better on matte protectors for me and I don't have to worry about fingerprints on my screen.

The brand I got is YIEDBCX on Amazon for $19.49 for my screen protector.

Now for the case I got a clear case, I've looked into all the cases and felt like this will suffice while I wait for the spingen ultra hybrid pro becomes available.

Brand: Halokin on Amazon for $27.99

Now the transfer of 80gb from my s25 plus to the fold 8u was smooth and went through without any issues. Just make sure you have your old phone to be connected on wifi. My esim automatically transfered over, it will ask you to restart but don't worry it will continue to transfer the data once the phone comes back on.

I love the size all around and I have looked at the fold 8 and compared it to the 8ultra. For me I do take advantage of the ultra features and use it to multi-task for my classes. I have bigger hands so for me it feels more comfortable with the candy bar type when the fold its close compared to the passport style. Don't get me wrong the fold 8 is an awesome phone but paying a total of just $200 with my carrier for a phone I will keep for at least 2 years is worth it for me. The fold 8 would have been free if I went that route.

I've set it up the way I like it and playing games on it is awesome on PUBG and Mobile Legends is great.

Overall this phone is great and I'm glad I got it. If you ever wanted to change the inner screen protector don't be afraid to do it, it is just a screen protector but definitely on the cheaper side from the factory. I'll post the video of the angles of the phone on so yall can see the privacy screen protector. Now just keep in mind its like barely on 15% brightness and would definitely be super bright if I turn it all the way up.

** The screen protector has now dried up and is considerably clearer than first installed. So if yall ever have worries about install privacy or matte just expect it to clear up after a couple of hours. Phone doesn't get as warm compared to first use of the fold 7 and fold 4 which I got to do the same type of things on the day one of its life.
