If you aren’t wearing a tie, are you wearing a pocket square

For me personally I am okay with no tie and a pocket square but recently I had two guys at work debating on whether or not you should wear a pocket square if you are not wearing a tie. They both claimed it was a fashion rule.

Okay Bremont, I’m not mad. I recognize the effort. You’re moving in the right direction.

I have criticized Bremont in the past but they have made a few recent releases that has me feeling like they’re moving in the right direction. The 1776 looks better than the black one.

I Still think they’re priced high.
I still hate the Wayfinder logo.
Still think they’re designing scared.

Too many opinions on brands and features based on YouTubers and B-Roll film. You don’t own the watches you judge. You haven’t even tried them on.

Too many “hot takes” are actually just stupid opinions from people who LIKE WATCHES but don’t own watches. They listen to Britt Pearce, Christian from Theo&Harris, and Nico Leonard’s idiotic takes and take them as law. If it comes from Teddy or MinuteMon, it’s automatically cool to oppose whatever their stance was because they are ADs.

The AD doesn’t even have them on display and you somehow got to try one on the day after it was released? Your friend tried one on and didn’t like it? Was your “friend” the same person in the YouTube video you just watched?

Actually experience a watch for a few before you give your opinion, It makes this pastime so much more enjoyable. Otherwise you’re an ESPN analyst commenting on a sport you never played.

“Hublot is garbage” - as he looks for his Apple Watch Charger

“Longines isn’t luxury” - has torn boxers on

“Jubilee feels cheap.” - never tried one on

“Oyster bracelets are for men.” - Doesn’t own a watch with an oyster bracelet, just has them on his wishlist

“Tudor is just a poor man’s Rolex” - as he places the fries in the bag

“Divers aren’t for suits” - doesn’t own a suit

Might be something, might not

I been training for a Selection and was doing some proactive recovery work on my hip today and the occupational therapist found a growth. It felt like a ping pong ball on my hip bone. It wasn’t visible above my skin you had to apply pressure to feel it. He told me get it checked out he said best case it’s a lipoma or something benign, worst case it’s a tumor.

What’s the process to be seen by a civilian doctor ?

Hawaii is terrible with military medical screenings. I have to go through an 18 year old medic to be screened by a stressed out, overworked PA, who will send me 30 minutes away to Tripler who will have me make an appointment for 4 months out. It took me 4 months to get imaging on a broken heel and partial Achilles tear. I still had to run a PT test and go to JPMRC.

I’m not gonna lie I’m nervous and I guess I’m just rambling.

I’m loving this Doxa chronograph, how’s Doxa as a brand?

I appreciate any watch with personality and this Doxa caught my eye, it’s beautiful. I know the history of Doxa but I’m speaking to owning one.

Any Doxa owners out there that would like to share their experience with the brand?

Does Language influence duty station?

Native English/Spanish Speaker with high level French proficiency.

Does being multilingual open up more opportunities for places like Malone or Champlain NY or other stations closer to Montreal and Quebec? Or Miami due to the large Haitian and Cuban population?

Are there bonuses for speaking additional languages?

PCS and selection

My soldier is talking about reenlisting for choice of duty station. He just had a kid and his wife’s family is from Jacksonville. So naturally he wants Stewart. But he’s also a superstud. He believes that he can PCS to Stewart and drop a RASP packet for 1st Batt, attend RASP, and if selected, not get PCS’d because of the 2 year stabilization rule. He is under the impression that they would just move his unit from 3ID to 1/75. Does anyone have any experience with or information on this?

I want the best for him so I just want to make sure that he has the most accurate information. I know Stewart is more important than anything else to him. I just don’t want him dropping a RASP packet and getting JBLM.

When I was at JBLM 2010-2013, I know 2/75 had recruiting presentations in the education center, and they said if you signed up, you would do a Ranger PT Test, go to RASP and if selected, come back to JBLM guaranteed. They said they would guaranteed it by signing you over from your current unit to 2/75 and then sending you to the next available RASP 1. I know because I signed. passed the Ranger PT test, but my CSM refused to sign me over. I ended up having to go to Korea for a year.

I told him that story but I think he is using it as evidence to support his decision to go to Stewart and drop a packet assuming he will stay at Hunter Army Airfield. But that’s 15 year old information! Does anyone know if this is still the case?

So our Battalion Schools NCO isn’t doing his job at all. He’s never in the office and will ghost you for weeks and then fail to get you what you need in a timely manner.

The S3 office lies for him too. I once waited to get a form signed to attend a school. I waited from 1100 through lunch and he didn’t show up and it was 1400. I walk into the office and ask for the SSG. The LT says, ‘he just left, you just missed him.’ I said “sir, I’ve been outside since 1100. I just wanted to make sure to speak to you first so I know what to tell my commander.”

I was not able to attend three armorers courses in a row because he didn’t process the packet in time the first time. The second time he didn’t show up to walk me onto the course. The third time (today) he blatantly lied to me.

As I have been to the schoolhouse three times I know that the Armorers course for walk-ons starts at 0845. He calls me at 0800 asking in a very “I-just-woke-up” kinda voice. I was standing in front of the locked schoolhouse. The only two people inside were the instructors. I was there before them. He calls and asks “hey are you at the schoolhouse?” I said “it doesn’t open until 0830, why?” He said “because I’m here and they just took all the walk-ons. You’re gonna have to try again for June.” I hung up the phone and went home.

My jungle school slot was in June. This is the second time getting jungle school pushed back because he failed to get me into the Armorers course. My unit is overseas on rotation right now so I think he’s on full sham mode. He didn’t show up to work Friday because he had to walk some soldiers onto air assault at 0400.

None of us in my company are getting schools because they keep getting stonewalled at the battalion level. I’m an infantryman, it should not be this hard to get schools. This is my career. How do I go about addressing this? Is there a formal way to address this? Do I go through ICE or whatever army program pertains to this? Do I use my open door policy to speak with my CSM or my battalion commander? Any advice would help. Fuck this guy.
