I couldn’t find my kittens anywhere… then I found the secret council behind the curtain

I found this amazing subreddit thanks to a fellow redditor. I need to share that Nyx (tuxie) and Leona (tabby) are plotting world domination, probably.

AITAH for attending my kids’ open house 48 hours after my partner’s surgery?

My (34F) partner (40M) is having ACDF surgery on his C5/C6. He’s understandably really anxious, but he’s also been really irritable and lashes out at me verbally and emotionally. I’ve tried to be patient and supportive, but I’m emotionally exhausted.

My teenage kids have a school open house that happens to be 48 hours after my partner’s surgery. From what his surgeon has told us, he should be home resting by then. The school is only five minutes away, and I’d be gone for about an hour.

When I told my partner I wanted to go, he got really upset and said I was abandoning him when he needed me most. This really hurts, because I’ve taken two days off work specifically to care for him and will be working from home the rest of the week so I can be there.

During the argument, he told me I’m emotionally numb and distant. I eventually snapped and told him he knew from the beginning when we started dating that my kids would always come first, and I’m going to be there for them for one hour.

He’s now giving me the silent treatment and says I’m dismissing his anxiety and need for help after surgery.

AITAH for going to my kids’ open house when he still needs me?

The eyes of a kitten who knows I’ve been frantically searching the whole house for her

Nyx has no regrets.

Ultimate Tortietude

Told Hestia to get off my desk because I was trying to work. She responded with this face.

Apparently, my desk is actually her desk, and I was simply mistaken.

If they fits, they sits

We have multiple window perches, several cat trees, and more beds than cats.
But, my tortie girl Hestia insists on sharing the same window perch with her little sister, Leona. They could each have their own spot… but apparently being squished together is the superior option.

The CDS has chosen me, meet Nyx!

Found Nyx near my work almost 8 weeks ago, but just found this sub, so enjoy some overdue kitten tax.

I’d adopted her tabby sister Leona a week earlier, but the Cat Distribution System wasn’t finished with me. Nyx is now the loudest, cuddliest little menace in a house with one tabby sister and one very patient (and occasionally unwilling) tortie big sister, Hestia.

We Somehow Ended Up with THREE

A couple of months ago, my fiancé and I decided we were ready to adopt a kitten from our local no-kill shelter. We brought home Leona, the sweetest little tabby who somehow manages to be both incredibly loving and fiercely independent. She joined our resident 1.5-year-old tortie, Hestia, and the two of them became fast friends almost immediately.

Then, just one week later, the Cat Distribution System decided our application wasn’t quite complete and delivered a baby tuxedo kitten, Nyx. She was found near my work—tiny, underweight, scared, and impossible to leave behind. Naturally, she came home with me.

So, in the span of one week, we somehow went from a one-cat household to a three-cat household. It has been absolute chaos… the adorable, zoomie-filled, toy-scattering kind. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Our house is fuller, louder, and overflowing with love (and cat hair).

Hestia is still adjusting to the fact that she somehow got promoted from only child to big sister of two overnight, so she’s not quite ready for family portraits yet—which is why we don’t have any photos of all three together (yet!). But every day she gets a little more accepting, and we’re hopeful that before long they’ll be an inseparable little trio. 🖤🐈🐈🐈

My new tabby kitten Leona

I adopted Leona from a local no kill shelter about a month ago. She is the sweetest girl and I love her so much!

The one thing I wasn’t prepared for is how independent Leona is. I’m not sure if that’s a tabby trait, but Leona’s big sister Hestia is super cuddly and I can pick her up & love on her whenever I want. Leona is only cuddly late at night and only if I have a soft blanket 😹 otherwise, she prefers to be left alone to cause havoc in the house.

Hestia the tortie

This is my baby Hestia 💗 I got her for free from a college student almost 2 years ago, when she was 5 weeks old. I had no idea that she was a dilute/blue tortie until weeks later when my boyfriend pointed it out to me.

“Hesty” has an enormous attitude the size of Texas, she’s sassy and spicy, and I love her so much.
