FB Market Legit Check - 1899 Morgan

Edit: offered $50 on it, I would not pay $60.
Thinking I should snag this but something about it smells fake. I haven’t spotted any dead give aways, but figured someone on here would be able to give me an educated opinion. Thanks in advance!

Needed new boxers - 647 gram 1940 sterling pitcher - $5

God is real sometimes. Only had to turn over 10,000 silver plate items to finally get a real one.

Fun little promotional mini bar from the 1970’s

I acquired this in an estate lot with tons of jewelry, gems, pins, trinkets, etc. After doing a smidge of research I determined it was struck by The Simmons Refining Company (originally based in Chicago, Illinois) operated heavily during the 1960s through 1982.likely from the late 70’s.

I was a bit perplexed as to why a bar worth about $1 at the time of production would have been struck, and had a hunch it was just promotional, which proved to be correct. This was somewhat tied to a commodities boom happening in the US Economy. From what I’ve read / seen, most of these were melted down during the few booms in the last 50ish years, so although the melt value is minimal, it seems there is relatively significant collector value. Although I’ll just be holding onto it because it’s funny and cool. I also heard that many which survived were set in pendants, which I think would be a fun project.

Bohemian Design Kashmir Ruby & Sterling Bracelet and Earring Set

Picked up this set recently from a church thrift store where I have found some absolutely amazing pieces. Have found a 647 gram 1940 Sterling water pitcher ($5), four 14k gold 5-10 gram brooches ($27). This is certainly in my top 5 finds there although I did pay up a bit more ($50), still a smoking deal in my book. Would be interested to hear if others would have paid $50 on the set. I didn’t see the “title” on the box till after I got it home and also found a service receipt in the box from post replacements on the earrings.

Hoping someone can provide a bit more info on the pieces, I’m on the fence about age, they showed age but I cleaned them up a bit. If someone knows for sure they are certainly modern, I apologize. Regardless I just hope others enjoy. I think they’re wonderful.

“Tape Toned” 1996 American Eagle Patina Porn

This was in a birth year coin set my grandfather put together when I was born. It was essentially a piece of cardboard with coin slots cut out, that was then framed. To hold the coins in place he put tape on the back. You can see that the areas a very distinct and sharp stripe of oxidation separating the areas that were taped and untaped. I know it’s likely not great from a value perspective, and I’m not sure that it is necessarily true “damage” - but I just think it’s cool as hell and it’s one of my favorite coins. Doesn’t hurt that it happened to be the ASE key date either.

Patina Porn - 1996 Walking Liberty (Key Date)

Edit: This is an American Eagle idk why my brain broke when I typed the title.

This was in a birth year coin set my grandfather put together when I was born. It was essentially a piece of cardboard with coin slots cut out, that was then framed. To hold the coins in place he put tap on the back. You can see that the areas that were taped remain mostly untarnished, while the un-taped section experienced oxidation. I know it’s likely not great from a value perspective, but I just think it’s cool as hell and it’s one of my favorite coins. Doesn’t hurt that it happened to be the walking liberty key date either.

Genuine Colombian Emerald?

Bought this is a large estate lot of jewelry. Ring is stamped 18k and I believe it to be a Colombian emerald but would appreciate any second opinions. Let me know what you think! Apologies in advance for picture quality, hard to capture on an iPhone

Cut Out Penny with a Bonus Feature on Reverse. Purpose?

This came in a lot of cutout coins I bought recently and I didn’t think much of it till I saw the back. Have absolutely no clue as to why the original owner engraved “Coke” into it but it gave me a chuckle and I think it’s awesome. Anyone know if there is a reason behind this? Or is it a mystery lost to the past?

Unique Smooth Quarter? Is this PMD?

Found this today and am extremely intrigued, the pattern in which both sides are smoothed almost doesn’t make sense, and the extreme degree of uniformity is intriguing. This couldn’t be damage from the mint right? And if it is post mint, do you think it was done intentionally? Regardless it’s a keeper in my book.

Posted a biface cobble tool a few days back which was the first artifact I found on the property where I was staying in Texas, so I ended up taking more time to surface hunt. Got home last night and laid out some of what I collected. Still have some pieces to sort through but I’m pretty pleased. Much of what I came away with are core tools and debitage, but my trip wasn’t intended as an artifact hunt, so I feel grateful to have found anything. Not gonna lie I was sweating a bit at the airport with a giant bag full of sharp rocks…😂

(To clarify - collected on private land well above the high water line. In my last post I said the biface was collected on the “shore” as a blanket term meaning “near the lake” - not right at the waters edge)

I am staying at an Airbnb on Lake Travis in Austin, TX and was searching the shore yesterday. Found this along with an abundant amount of flint chips and other seemingly worked pieces. I am fairly confident it’s a hand axe but looking for outside opinions? What do you think? Hoping I can find some points this weekend if the rain lets up.
