Six weeks of acknowledging each other’s presence in the workplace, mixed with eye contact, looking at each other and the other one looks away, him hovering around my desk, we are starting to collaborate on a project, just started like yesterday,
and today he winked at me at the end of the day. Is winking at other women normal at workplace? What was he trying?

I have had this eye contact that went on with my coworker for almost 5 weeks and soon after a project came up and my manager put me and the other person together on it. We are both from two different teams and vendor companies and work at the client site.
Now that my manager introduced us, I have been trying to get to a spot where I feel comfortable talking to this guy because I felt really nervous around him esp because he gave me the eye contact in the beginning. I don’t want to feel all warm and romantic when I look at him and work with him.
Now that I am gathering my courage to talk to him professionally, I sometimes feel very nervous still, and kinda forget how to smile or talk to him about anything else other than work.
Yesterday we chatted for 3-4 mins straight and I was looking into his eyes directly, and asking questions, he was actively listening and answering, I felt super weird once the conversation was over mainly because I don’t want to come off desperate or weird at all.
I am worried if he read my soft eyes, because to me his eyes were just flat wide open, i didn’t see him giving me any warm look. He did mention to chat again for a few minutes today.
I was busy today and couldn’t talk to him at all, so towards the end of the day when he walked past my desk, our eyes met and he gave me a smile, I smiled back at him. And then I stopped him and asked about the project. Him and his other friend will come to work on that project with me tomorrow.
I don’t know what to expect, I think I have developed a crush on him, and now I don’t even know if he still feels the same way about me like he did a few weeks ago, but I don’t want to lead myself on and be delusional about the situation. How do I proceed in this situation?
Folks, I am starting to develop a crush at someone at my workplace. I don’t know how to ask him out without making it awkward.
We have made eye contact before and he has said hii once but it’s just a lull in the sea at the moment, i do want to ask him out. Any ideas please.
