My (F29) fiancé’s (M32) sleep schedule is annoying me

I am F29 and my fiancé is M32, we have been together for 3 years and some months. My fiancé wakes up 5.30 for work everyday Monday-Saturday, he commutes one hours, is at work 7.00, finishes 15.00 and is back home 16.00.

Most days he sleeps from around 17.00-20.00. Except from the nights he is cooking, but even then as he most of the time cooks the night before. He goes to bed 00.00.

I also work, but only 8-16 hours per week and study. I have two kids, not his, age 8 and 11.

Some nights I wake him around 19.00-20.00 but I only do it maximum 1-3 days before I get annoyed that I need to wake him up and manage his sleep schedule and stop doing it, when I don’t do it he can then sleep until 21.00 some nights.

It is really starting to annoy me that he sleeps that much:

\- If I need to go out without the kids I need to wake him to make sure he watches them.
\- I feel like we are not a family with his sleep schedule. Some times he wakes up after I put the kids to bed and expect me to have energy to now be with him. We then do more things weekends and vacations, but everyday life is important as well.
\- I told him he can’t do like this if we have a child together. I am scared that if I was home on maternity leave he would be tired from his job, come back, sleep without giving me a break, then stay up much later, leading us to drift apart with different sleep schedules. I don’t want to be alone with the child afternoons and evenings. I also would also want us to take turns sleeping in on the weekends. I am not pregnant but I am thinking about all these things. I have said it, but when I see his sleep schedule now I still worry.

We just came back from a vacation to his home country (my dad is from this country as well), it was our first time going there together and it was just me and him going, it annoys me more now when I saw how he was not napping there and social with everybody. We also went on two vacations with my children, one in May and one in July, he was also very present there. It is not like he is not invested in us, but everyday life also hits harder now, the contrast of it. Now for him it is work, being on the phone with his family back home, tv, and me if I am there when he is awake.

Tl;dr: my fiancé naps 2-4 hours daily. Monday-Friday and sometimes Saturday as well. It makes me feel like we are not a family and it makes me question getting married and having a child together, even though I love him so much and he is great when he is there.

I think it was a bat flying around in the room? Scared of rabies a month later

I am not asking for medical advice.

I got vaccinated for it. I got my first shot the 12th of July and the second shot the 19th of July.

20th of July I travelled to Cameroun. Slept in a house next to a tropical forrest in the village.

I think it was the 22nd of July (almost a month ago) in the evening I was sitting in my room, together with 3 other girls. There was no light. There came something flying in, it was extremely small, and I have never seen anything fly that fast. It didn’t make a sound and you couldn’t feel anything. You could only see it, it was going everywhere in the room. The other girl was hitting after it with a t-shirt to get it out, it took a while but after that it went out alone and she didn’t touch it. I asked them if it was a bat, they said no it was a butterfly. But it didn’t look like a butterfly to me, more like a tiny bird or a bat. Eventually it left the room. After it came back in and I left the room. I later entered the room again and it was gone. I slept under a net.

The wingspan was probably 10-20 cm but I could be wrong. I never Saw it clearly as there was no light, only from the phones.

Now almost one month later i am still thinking about it. It didn’t touch me. But it was flying around in the room and I don’t know if it was a bat. Even if it touched me and I didn’t know, me having two vaccines (even though you still need treatment if bitten if vaccinated) would it have protected me from anything?

Obligations and family bonds

I’m half Cameroonian myself, but I grew up in Europe, so I’m trying to understand something from my fiancé’s family without simply reducing it to cultural differences. I have been to Cameroun before and I grew up with my Cameroonian parent (dad) as well as my European parent. I went this time to visit my partner’s family, and I feel like such an outsider inside.

My fiancé is from Cameroon and now lives legally in Europe. His mother made significant sacrifices to help him get to Europe. My fiancé has a huge family. His mother has several children still in Cameroon, and she hopes that one to three of the younger siblings will eventually come to Europe to study. My fiancé also wants to help them with this, but I wasn’t aware of how much of a fixed plan this was before going there and his mother also asked me to help so her daughter can study in Europe. There is also a cousin that I learned he also hopes that she can come for studies. I don’t even see how all this can be done and it seems like a long and difficult process.

We are now building our own life together and saving for a home, I have a child, we have studies and work and plenty responsibilities, and I sometimes struggle with the expectation that we should also help his siblings and other relatives with moving to Europe, housing, transportation, education, etc.

Sometimes I even scare to ask questions when it comes to his family. Being there I was overwhelmed by being with people 24/7 for two weeks, especially since it was my first time meeting his family. One night after travelling to Yaoundé I believed that we would get our own hotel room, but he said we would share a small apartment/bigger hotel room with his mom, I cried. Not because I don’t like his mom, I do like her, but because I was tired, overwhelmed, introverted and had expected to be able to get my own room. At first he got angry at me saying I don’t like his mom, I ended up paying for a extra room in the same building and he apologized but I just feel like if there is anything with family his obligations to them will always run deeper than my comfort? And maybe I am just too selfish for that?

For Cameroonians, especially those who have experience with family members living abroad, I would really appreciate your perspective. How are these kinds of expectations usually understood? How do couples balance helping extended family with building their own household? And is it reasonable for a spouse to want clear boundaries around how much financial and practical responsibility they take on for relatives? Financially I don’t even care a lot, we save together for our future, and as long as he is paying his part of his bill and we don’t have to suffer and can still enjoy life and travel sometimes, he can do with his own money what he wants just like I can, but practical responsibility is of much more importance to me.

Tray 12 out of 24, not seeing the difference?

I am on tray 12 out of 24. I am tracking how I should. I have a slight - moderate overbite, otherwise my teeth are pretty straight. I just thought I would be seeing a bigger difference. I see some difference but I still feel like my front teeth take all the focus. I also hate wearing the invasaligns as it makes my jaw look really soft and awkward. How normal is it to prolong treatment, normally i always hear that it is the front middle teeth that shifts first. I am getting married July next year, I dont want to still be wearing braces then.

Visiting my (F29) fiance’s (M32) Home Country?

We are visiting my fiance’s (we have been together for 3 years) family abroad in his home country (my dad is also from this country so I have been there before I Met my fiance), it is his first time being home in almost 6-8 years.

It has been a beautiful visit, but also a difficult one. We are here for almost two weeks, my son (age 8) had to go be with his father for his vacation from there (it was also hard to say good bye as he didn’t wanted to go, and we need to go in court for him to stay more with me and not 7/7). First child free vacation.

We landed in the night, then we drove all night to visit his parents village. We arrived around noon. Normally we had made a reservation at a hotel but we ended up staying there with them. So we were with them all day, I didn’t get a lot of time to relax inside the room, even when I did people were sitting there with me. My fiance also had to green everybody so we didn’t really get a chance to sit together, even evening when the entire family was together he was seated far from me. I ended up crying by being so overwhelmed and tired.

Next day his grandmother came to wake us up in the morning, he also had to go free tsome people and I was staying with his family during this time. I was not sure where he was maybe 1-2 hours. We went in the afternoon to visit a museum with his aunt and uncle, came back evening and it was the same like the day before. Him being seated far from me. I also cried this night.

Next day there was a ceremony, event. From morning 7.30-16.00 I didn’t have one second with my fiance. I was helping the women cook etc. In the evening again two hours I was with the women without knowing where exactly my husband was. In the evening all the family got together, I was just sitting there 4 hours while they were discussing family matters. I went to bed midnight and my fiance came at 1 pm after finishing with his family. I was again crying by feeling so overwhelmed, stuck and lonely.

I don’t remember if we had one more day there or not that kinda went the same way. We had a walk me and my fiance, and two other people. I had thought we would finally get just 30 minutes to us. Because even in the room we had people were coming in everytime or knockout to ask something.

The next day was better went to another village. We had some time together.

Then we drove 12 hours to go somewhere just me and my fiance, and his uncle because he had to drive us. We were there it was nice, had two nights. We maybe had an hour or two alone.

Then we went to his mother’s house in another village, another long drive. But we slept in a hotel.

Then we went to the Capital with his mother and uncle, a 7 hour long drive. I didn’t understand she would come with us, and then we arrived I understand he wanted to rent an apartment with two rooms so she could sleep with us. I started crying, I was overwhelmed, he Got angry and Said I didn’t wanted his mom, even though I offered to pay another apartment or hotel. Next day he apologized.

But I still feel sad and misunderstood. I speak the official language here (French) at a B1 level but I don’t speak the language of his village and that’s all they speak. There are people everywhere and I feel overwhelmed, I understand it is long since he has been Home and he needs to see everybody, I just wish he wouldn’t just leave me when he Greets people and we at least could have 30 minutes in the day to walk alone together. Also not a country that is easy to navigate alone as a foreign woman. I am very introverted and very sensitive. I feel like a bitchhh but my system can’t take in anymore. I also feel so misunderstood and wonder if we are really compatible.

Like now we have been spending all day to visit his family in the Capital, entered, but now more than one hour he has went to another room to talk with other family member’s while leaving me in the living room. I regret spending child free time like this, for one hour I have not said a word.

Tl;dr: We went on a vacation to visit my fiance’s home country. But I am very introverted and I feel like he has been leaving me a lot, I am not sure if we are compatible or how I can talk to him about it? Maybe I also need to get myself together, I have been crying almost daily.

My (F29) fiance (M32) has a female friend (F2x) and I am not sure I like it?

My fiancé and I have been together for 3 years and 3 months now. I recently saw some old messages from around 3 months into our relationship that are bothering me, and I honestly don’t know if I’m overreacting.

A few days before his birthday (when we had already been together for about 3 months and we were exclusive, and I had bought him birthday presents), he was messaging a female friend who lives abroad.
At one point he sent her a voice message saying something like:

“You should suggest something yourself, because if I ask, maybe you won’t be able to give me what I want. That’s why I’m asking you to suggest something.”

Earlier in the chat she had joked that she could give him anything he wanted, and he jokingly replied, “Then I want your sister haha.”

It just felt extremely weird to me.

On his birthday she sent him a voice message wishing him happy birthday. They spoke on the phone in front of me, and he told her about me. He even sent her a picture of us together and she replied something like, “Omg sooo cute.”
Around 6 months later she travelled from her country to country my fiancé has lived in before and ended up meeting one of my fiancé’s male friends (they were interested in each other at the time). While she was there she called my fiancé, sometimes around midnight or 1 AM, asking for help with transport and practical things. She laughed a lot on the phone and even asked, “Is your fiancée okay with us talking?” she didn’t know I was there listening on speaker. My fiance said yes and told her to say hi to me.
At one point she thanked another guy for helping her, and my fiancé jokingly said, “What about thanking me? I’m getting jealous.”
Eventually I told him I felt uncomfortable, and after that he stopped having those conversations. Since then their contact has been very limited, mostly things like wishing each other happy holidays or something like that.
Fast forward to late 2025. I have just seen the messages now. We were planning a trip to Spain. He told her he’d be in Spain in december (he thought she was still Living there). She replied that she was living in France now and said that if he was ever near Paris, he should let her know and she’d come. He replied that he didn’t know when, because he was going to Madeira first and then Ghana, but maybe after that, and that he’d let her know.
He said “I”, but realistically we always travel together, so I don’t think he was planning a solo trip because me and him have been talking about going to France together. If he went alone I think that would be risky even if he doesn’t Think he has any feelings, and if he goes with me why should I be interested to travel with him to meet different women. We have already travelled to meet friends and family of his that lives abroad.
What bothers me is not that they wished each other happy holidays. It’s the whole picture: the old joking messages, the late night calls, the “I’m getting jealous” comment, and then later being open to meeting in France.

Am I overreacting, or would this make you uncomfortable too? I’m honestly trying to figure out if this is just a friendship with poor boundaries or if I’m seeing red flags that I shouldn’t ignore?

Tl;dr: My fiancé had a female friend he joked with early in our relationship. She later called him late at night several times, and in 2025 they discussed possibly meeting if he was ever near Paris (even though he will most likely travel with me). They barely talk now, but I feel their boundaries were inappropriate. Am I overreacting?

Son was unhappy to go to his dad

My ex and I separated some years ago because of verbal abuse. We have an 8-year-old son together.

His father wanted very frequent, short transitions, while I wanted longer periods so our son could actually settle. We couldn’t reach an agreement through family mediation, so the case went to court. You can’t go to court directly without a family meditation which can take a while in Denmark.

I asked for a 7/7 schedule and longer summer holidays so we could travel, and that’s what the court ordered. I’m the residential parent and we share legal custody. That was a couple of years ago, but lately I’ve been wondering if asking for 7/7 was a mistake.

Nothing would make me happier than seeing my son genuinely excited to spend time with his dad. I don’t have lingering feelings for my ex, and I don’t speak negatively about him in front of our son. When he comes home, I ask if they had fun and encourage him to tell me about the good things they did together.

The problem is that this has been going on for a long time now:

My son often cries before going to his dad’s. He says he doesn’t want to go and wishes he could stay 0 or maybe 1 day instead of a whole week. When he comes back, he’s happy to see me at first, but later he often becomes more emotional, irritable, and frequently sleepwalks the first night home.
This summer he spent four weeks with me and was then due to spend four weeks with his dad. For the last two days before the handover, he cried constantly. Without me asking leading questions, he opened up more about why he doesn’t want to go.
He says his dad calls me “crazy,” “stupid,” and “nuts.” He says his dad tells him he can’t love or see both parents, that he has to choose one parent, and that he should choose his dad. He says his dad asks him what’s wrong with him and gets angry easily, for example when he’s struggling with reading. My son is seeing a speech therapist and reading takes him a bit longer than some children, but he genuinely loves school and enjoys learning. He also says his dad tells him he isn’t allowed to talk to, play with, answer, or be close to my fiancé.

A few days ago, my son packed his own suitcase because he said he wanted to stay with his grandmother instead of going to his dad’s.

My ex has also made child protection reports against me, claiming that both I and my fiancé physically abuse our son. Nothing came of those reports, but they’re obviously now part of the system.

Yesterday’s handover completely broke me.
My son cried, held onto me, and said “I don’t want to go.” Normally he doesn’t show those emotions in front of his dad, so seeing that was heartbreaking.
I know I can’t simply refuse. I think that would likely create an even more traumatic situation and also put me in a much worse legal position.

I have now applied to change the parenting schedule, but these processes take time. I don’t suspect physical abuse or neglect. My concern is psychological and emotional. I know emotional abuse can be much harder to prove because people often focus on parental conflict or family systems, but I genuinely don’t feel that’s what this is.
For me, this isn’t about wanting to keep my son from his father. If they had a warm, secure relationship, I would be genuinely happy.

I’m just struggling with how to cope now. He’s with his dad for the next four weeks. It is the first time it is this long, last year it was three weeks but it is because it falls With the dad’s normal week this year. Today I’m leaving for a two-week trip abroad with my fiancé to visit family, and although the trip has been planned for a long time, I honestly can’t imagine enjoying it while knowing how distressed my son was when I left him today. The last two weeks before he comes home I’ll probably throw myself into work, make his room cozier, and maybe finally start putting together his photo albums.
But I don’t know how to relax or feel happy while wondering how he’s doing. I’m also scared that, by having to leave him there when he begged me not to, I’m damaging his trust in me or our attachment.
Has anyone been through something similar? How did you cope while waiting for the legal process? I have never made Four weeks without him, three weeks is a lot, but four. I would feel better if I at least knew he had been looking forward. I was crying for hours after handing him over.
