Which yarn is the best to crochet sweaters and vests?

Which yarn is the best to crochet sweaters and vests?

I've never crocheted clothes before, and I wanna start with a sweater or vest, but I'm genuinely confused with which yarn would be the best for that... Where I live there's not many options, I mostly see acrylic yarn.. should I look for another type?

Edit: Thank you all for your advice! I thought the material for clothing had to be a specific type... I was clearly mistaken. I'll start with a cheap yarn that feels ok for my first project to see how it goes, and not focus so much on the actual material for now.

People who sell crochet/amigurumi patterns, what’s your honest experience?

Hi everyone! Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about trying to sell amigurumi crochet patterns as a side income, and I wanted to hear from people who actually do this.

I’ve always loved crafts and creating things, and honestly I’d really love to build income around something that genuinely makes me happy instead of always working from stress and survival mode. Crochet feels like one of the few things I could see myself enjoying long-term.

I guess I’m mostly wondering… is it actually viable nowadays?

Like, where do most of your sales even come from? Instagram? Pinterest? TikTok? Do you feel like social media is basically required now?

I’ve also wondered if starting a YouTube channel would help, but I’m honestly not super comfortable on camera. I could probably get used to it eventually, though. I don’t know if people actually grow from YouTube anymore or if it’s just extra work on top of everything else.

I’d really appreciate honest experiences, I think I just want realistic perspectives from people already doing it.

Thank you in advance!

Crochet pattern sellers, any advice for someone wanting to start on Etsy?

Hi everyone! I’ve been seriously considering opening an Etsy shop for amigurumi crochet patterns, and I wanted to ask for advice from people who already sell craft-related digital products there.

I genuinely love crochet and creative projects, and lately I’ve been thinking it would be really fulfilling to slowly turn that into a side income. I’m still very early in the process, though, so I’d love to hear honest experiences from people who’ve already gone through the learning curve.

I keep seeing very mixed opinions about Etsy lately, especially for digital products, so I’m curious what the experience has been like specifically for crochet patterns and similar handmade and craft niches. Do you feel like crochet patterns are still a good niche for new sellers? And is there anything you wish you knew before opening your shop?

I’m not expecting “easy passive income” or anything like that... I know creative businesses take time and consistency. I just really enjoy crafting and would love to hear realistic advice from people already doing it. Thank you in advance!!

Looking for a not so popular recommendation, beginner-friendly to fantasy

I see the same books being recommended repeatedly and I would love recommendations of easy to follow hidden gems! I haven't read any high-fantasy, since following the world building is sometimes complicated for me (English is not my first language, but I wanna practice). I don't mind series, but do prefer standalones and trilogies.
