Fantasy Grounds Acquires Eldritch Foundry, 3D Character Integration

Smiteworks, the parent company of FGVTT just announced that it acquired the assets of the 3D character/mini builder Eldritch Foundry (EF). I hadn't heard of EF before, but looking at it it seems pretty much a competitor to Heroforge.

The stated intent is to be able to integrated your EF characters straight into FGVTT so that your party can not be represented as 3D minis in the VTT itself.

More details including some screen shots are in the press release. https://www.fantasygrounds.com/forums/showthread.php?88225-SmiteWorks-Acquires-Eldritch-Foundry-to-Build-a-Leading-3D-VTT-Experience

Character Vault in Beta, We Based Character Management, Shareable!

For those of you who may not have heard, SmiteWorks has released a web based character builder that can print to pdf as well as import and export characters to FGVTT: Character Vault

It only supports a handful of systems at the moment, but they are working on deploying more.

What it does:

  • Build characters for supported system using content you own for Fantasy Grounds or free entitlements
  • Use an interactive online interface (disconnected from FG) for live play
  • Print the character sheet
  • Import from a Fantasy Grounds character export
  • Export to a Fantasy Grounds compatible XML file you can import to your campaign
  • Supported systems include D&D 5E/5.5E, Pathfinder 2E, Starfinder 2E, Cosmere RPG, Pathfinder 1E

There are currently 3 tiers. Free allows you to have 3 active characters. "Player" Vault gives you 12 character slots, that you can share with others so they have access to your FG products for character creation. Or the "GM" Vault with gives you 50 character slots that you can share with others.

Honda Will Keep Building Manual Cars Even Though Demand Is Dying, Executive Says

https://www.thedrive.com/news/honda-will-keep-building-manual-cars-even-though-demand-is-dying-executive-says

>
“It continues to be a smaller and smaller portion of the market that gets excited about the manual, and that will probably continue to shrink, honestly,” Woelfer told media, including The Drive. “But because they’re fun-to-drive, we can continue to have models like the Civic Si or the Integra or the Type R that offer [the manual]. But we don’t see [it] growing.

New Vs Old Tire Tech (on an FL5)

Track testing old vs new tire tech

Interesting comparison of the older Toyo R1R vs the new Toyo Sport R. The FL5 drive starts at about 8:35, but I linked the start since it talks about the tech and differences between the two tires and the change in philosophy over time.

Crowd Control & Filtering Enabled

I've turned on Crowd Control and Reputation filters. This should prevent all of these spam bots and trolls we seem to be getting. Hopefully it does not impact legitimate users. The control levels are pretty crude, so if you have trouble etc you can PM me and I can either manually approve you or if it's bad enough will turn off one of the features.

FG Just Upgraded their Effects on all Rulesets

Thought it was pretty cool that the release this week of Fantasy Grounds has greatly enhanced effects for all rulesets.

This means things like Ongoing Damage, Resistances, Immunities, Dodging, Exhaustion, etc has better support, standardization, and automation across all game systems (D&D, Pathfinder, GI Joe, etc).

They also have said that they should now process faster. Was never an issue for me, but I guess if you had numerous effects on the various PCs and NPCs you could detect lag in the processing.

Do note, if you use Extensions, make sure your extension has been updated, at least dozens of them have been, but there is certainly a chance that one you use has been impacted and might not have been updated yet.
