War Wagon Question

I've always liked the war wagon as a unit and bitterly regret selling my two originals in a fit of End Times pique.

I am fortunate to have a resin printer so I'm considering printing off a few to roll out again.

My question is this. How viable and/or fun is a war wagon spam list. I like the idea of a bunch of engineers in experimental clown cars wanging around the battlefield. Is it miserable to play against? I always value fun over success for both sides.

Pics of volley gun work in progress for your enjoyment.

Bought 1993. Painted 2026

I'm finally getting around to fully painting my Empire army thanks to getting into the Old World.

I'm not the greatest painter by any standard, I'm 48 and finally trying to up my painting game. However, this is not it. I wanted to do a 90s style paint job.

This is the first bit of work on my volley gun and team. I started with the gun itself and Leonardo da Miragliano!

Back to the Old World

After two years of nothing but Sci-fi terrain, I've gone back to the Warhammer Old World.

I've started off, with a Wizard's Tower. Naturally!

Help Sought

One of my oldest friends has just lost his father and amongst the usual support one gives in these situations I wanted to print an Old World High Elves army for him.

We used to play regularly in the early 90s and he had a decent High Elves army, which ended up being stolen.

I want to make a 2k point army for him and I'm seeking stls of elves that are in the style of or are recreations of the oldhammer elves of the 90s. I'm not having much luck finding them in the usual places. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Hello again. Based off the kind advice you shared with me I've had a first crack at writing a list. I've not played a game of Old World yet so I am firmly in Theoryhammer land. Magic items are basically a shot in the dark so, be kind to my amateurish attempt!

Hochland Handgunner

I posted the other day about my old Empire army restoration project.

I've finished my test guy. I'm super rusty with painting but I like the colour scheme of Hochland and think it will look pretty nice as an army-wide look.

I'm doing the bases with a thawing snow look.

One down, so so many more to go.

ID help please!

What is this vehicle from? It's a big, solid chunk of resin. I think I bought it back in 2001 from Wayland's Forge in Birmingham. Commissar for scale.

Thanks.

Empire Advice Sought

I've pulled my old WFB Empire army out of jumbled boxes and have been gluing and restoring them back to health. Not played the Old World at all.

I'm starting to paint this all up. Hopefully done by Christmas 2050.

This is what's left of a huge army that went all the way back to the 90s and had all the good stuff. Sadly, I pillaged it and flogged all the really tasty stuff… which I bitterly regret.

However, I'm keen to give The Old World a go. Is what I have viable? Do I need to add anything? Am I missing any core stuff that would help round it all out?

I have:

Various command characters, three wizards and a Pegasus guy.

25 spears x 2

30 halberds

20 knights

14 pistolliers

20 hand gunners

3 Demigryph

2 x cannon

2 x mortar

2 x Helblaster

1 x Rocket Launcher

10 x Free Company

I'm playing with friends and have a resin printer set up, so can use printed proxies for now.

Back to the Empire

I've finally decided to recover and revive my old Empire army. It's a thin reflection of what it used to be but it's currently at about 4.5k pts, so, still pretty good. I'll share pics of it once I've finished gluing it back together and tidying it up.

However, I started with a captain that I've been meaning to paint for about a million years.

Hive, Annette and Grounded Hobby Approach

I've been a 40k enjoyer since the early 90s. My son has recently got into 40k and is really getting lots from the hobby.

I have been slowly listening and reading my ear through the works of Dan Abnett. I've mostly stuck with Gaunt's Ghosts and a few other Sabbat Worlds books.

I've just finished Hive, which I loved.

More than anything else, I like the more grounded character driven works and Hive gave me that in spades.

One big effect of reading his books is me taking a similarly grounded approach to my hobby craft.

Sad warehouses, shattered buildings, grubby back streets, depressing hab blocks and similar have become my terrain-making obsession thanks to Dan Abnett.

I like the idea that not everything needs to be slathered in skulls. There need to be warehouses and shops in cities on boring industrial worlds. Growing up in the Midlands in the 80s gives me a fair bit of industrial decline imagery to work with...

Anyone else similarly inspired? Here are a few examples of the results of Abnett inspiration.

Also, I think Toby Longworth needs to be turned into a permanent GW narrator servitor. Only way to ensure continued productivity for the coming years.

Helped Cheer My Daughter Up!

I thought I'd share a little story of how this ai music thing has helped bring a smile to someone who is struggling with exam stress and feeling generally overwhelmed with life.

My daughter is currently in the middle of her UK GCSE exams (age 16) and it's pretty brutal. She's on course to do well but it's really hard on her.

She's recently found Star Trek TNG (We're a family of functioning nerds!). So, I used Suno to create a surprise album of silly Star Trek influenced songs.

This has worked far better than I could have hoped. She really liked it. Despite being pretty lukewarm about AI, she's enjoyed this and it's the first time in weeks that I've seen her smile and not look excessively nervous.

So, thanks, magic robots!

If you are a like-minded geek, you might also find it raises a smile.

First Kill Team Squad Member

I've finally started a kill team. I randomly picked up the Aquilons box. I've yet to play a game but my son and I are excited to give it a go.

I wanted to do an all black urban look special ops feel for the squad as I've been building out a modular urban board which will double up as our KT board.
