Been opening rolls and rolls of quarters and looking through change the past 4 weeks on my america trip, never found a silver one. Last evening i was on my way to the washing room and wanted to pay with quarters. I saw there was a quarter stuck in the coin slot and when i pushed it in, it came back in the reject tray and to my surprise it was a 1957 silver one! 🥳 Its in rough condition and looks like it got some pmd but im very happy anyways :) What are the odds?

Edit: Seems its not a damaged coin but a so called lamination error from the mint!

So, keep in mind, if you wanna find silver, go washing your clothes 😉

Someone even placed them on top for me :)

1$ 20c for free + another silver dime from a coinstar during my vacation 🥳 Would love to find a silver quarter or nickel before returning home but lets see what the coming weeks may bring

Picked this up at a coin shop lately

Bought this frame in a coin shop during my USA journey lately, not familiar with stamps in general and even less with US ones. Guess those stamps are not of any value?

Started collecting cents

I recently visited a big coin shop where i wanted to buy some american coins to take home from my vacation. Found those in a big jar full of Wheaties, paid 4$ for all of them, 18$ for the Indian Heads and really like them. Searched a few rolls of customer wrapped pennies already but didnt had the luck to find one myself yet.

From a single dime roll

Visiting the US currently and grabbed 2 rolls of Pennies and a roll of Nickels, Dimes and Quarters each. Got really lucky and was able to pull this beautiful 1964 dime out of that single roll. Nice souvenir to keep and take home 😌

Visiting the US and got myself a few customer wrapped rolls

No silver found unfortunately but ill look for more when i see a bank the next time. Anything special i should look for beside the silver coins?

Also, i saw there are 1 or 2 different motifs for each state on the quarters and do plan on keeping one from each state. how many different ones are there? (including special ones) is there a list or something somewhere?

Visiting the US and found those in an Antique Shop

Always wanted some US coins. Paid $28 for the 3, did i do ok? Havent had the time to look up prices. The cent is pretty beat up but i liked it.

Spent $100 on a fake swiss 1 francs

So i got this pretty good fake swiss 1 francs at an auction lately. There was not a single word about the coin beeing a restrike/fake and they also didnt answer my mail i sent to let them know so that was pretty weird but whatever.

Might have overspent a little but i like the fact that i probably got a pretty unique piece in my collection now, since its a pretty low denomination which generally does not make it really worthwhile to fake and which you dont see often at all. Unfortunally i dont know what year this fake was actually faked, that would be interesting to know. The mint mark and Bovy ingraving gave it away.

Cleaning coins allowed as an exception?

I know you should not clean the surface of coins or even rub them with anything. but whats about the rim of the coin? i have a few of bu silver coins which seem to be out of the same roll and almost all of those got this green stuff on the rim which can easily be removed with my thumb nail. seems like the paper which they were rolled in decayed or got wet or something.

Probably gently clamp them togheter and clean the rim with a soft brush?

Grading one of a kind coins

Hi,

So i have a quick question about grading at NGC or PCGS. I am owner of 2 pattern coins of which both is only known 1 specimen. The one in the picture is listed in a swiss catalogue, the other one is not.

Ive read in an article from decades back that they will grade the coin, if its in any known catalogue. Not sure if that only applies to American catalogues tho, what will they do with my 1 of a kind coins?

Thanks in advance!

Got 55lbs of silver, should i sell now and if yes, should i sell through my local online marketplace or to a coin dealer near me? He pays about 576$ per pound if i did the math correct since we weight in kg here and pay with CHF. i guess i could get more from a private buyer, no?
