What jobs do you have that enable you to avoid having a smartphone?

For my job, I rely heavily on smartphone usage. I am constantly texting clients and am sometimes on the road when questions need to be answered. I'm quite sick of this life though and want to create one where smartphones are not required.

The question is: what job can I do that enables me to look at screens less, avoid needing a smartphone, and still make a decent amount of money?

Obviously we all have different skill sets and needs, but I'm just curious to hear what you all do?

Companions lagging/choppiness with Xbox series x

Hey all- does anyone know how to fix this issue? You can see Kai here is choppy/laggy. It happens to Marius too. It happens out in the world and not just in conversations as well.

Sometimes the audio gets weird as I'm exploring the world and it's distracting.

I hear it may be due to performance mode? I can't change to quality mode or whatever because that would make my entire game lag.

EDIT: the lag is way more noticeable on my TV compared to this video.

I love how easy it is to jump in and have fun in Avowed

Just finished BG3 a couple of days ago and, while I enjoyed myself, that game took so much cognitive bandwidth. At times it was exhausting.

So, I started a new game in Avowed for the first time since launch. What a joy.

With Avowed, I can hop in and play right away without needing much mental bandwidth. Yet, it still has a decent amount of depth and decisions to be made.

Avowed hits an interesting sweet spot in the RPG genre. Ever since it came out, I've been trying to find games similar to it and, honestly, there's not much out there.

Could it be better? Certainly. It still offers a fun romp that doesn't ask too much of you and respects your time.

What I would like to see in Avowed 2:

More in depth crafting

Moving away from the upgrade system for loot

More loot that matters in random chests

More builds (like life leech)

Items with strong enough stats to matter (current life leech ring is pointless, you can't build around it)

Stronger story (I personally didn't vibe with it)

Leveling up/progression should have a more consistent pace (I felt it slowed down toward zone 3)

Smarter/more fluid enemy AI that changes TACTICS or abilities with increased difficulty rather than just becoming damage sponges

Separating dodge and jump buttons

Towns/NPCs with more life

Probably more I can't think of atm

What about y'all? How are you liking the game? What do you want out of a sequel?

Why don't they make games like Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance anymore?

...and what are some modern examples of games that get close?

Other similar games of the time include Gauntlet Dark Legacy, Champions of Norrath, and Dungeon and Dragons: Heroes.

I understand couch co-op is less of a thing these days, but these games could still be built for online co-op.

I miss the simplicity of the games and the fact that they respect your time, have good itemization that doesn't feel too bloated, a simple stat and level up system where you can make builds that aren't too complex, and the more linear adventure that allows you to hop in for an hour, smash some stuff, level up, maybe buy a new weapon, and move on with your life - all while your buddy is along for the ride.

It feels like modern gaming has made things unnecessarily complex.

HELP! Act 3 (Spoilers)

I've aggroed the entire Steel Watch and they fight me on sight. It's quite annoying.

Is there any way to fix this? I've heard folks recommended I travel back to Rivington to reset the aggro, but that's not working.

Someone else said to just destroy the foundry, but when I walk past it, it's already on fire.

Thoughts?

I heard Gortash was becoming Archduke and fought the guards that told me. That meant the drawbridge was locked up. So, I used the feather fall boots, hopped across, snuck in the side door, and challenged Gortash with his Steel Watch and Fist guards.

Shadowheart warned me to not fight them there, but my barbarian took that as a challenge 😂

I thought I was a genius by luring them toward the door and using wall of fire to block their passageway- only to have the steel watch be immune to burning (which makes sense). If I would have fought them head-on in the big room, I imagine I'd have been melted in half a second.

I threw pretty much all my bombs and used a ton of arrows of many targets as well as smoke powder arrows. I also kept everyone hidden behind cover and they only poked their head out to get an attack in or throw a bomb, electrocute some water, or ignite some barrels.

It was pretty crazy.

Oh! I also threw a beholder at them from the flask I remembered I had 😂 ...that bought me some time.

Enjoy the aftermath.

P.s. I only did it in balanced difficulty, but I'm still proud of myself. It was the most tactically-satisfying fight I've had so far.

I had a test last year that showed mild apnea, but I didn't have insurance. This year I have insurance. Insurance wanted another test. After a home test, insurance is saying it's not severe enough for them to cover a CPAP. Doctor recommended an in lab sleep study to get more data.

It will be months before they can get me in.

I'm thinking about just buying an auto CPAP myself and trialing it in the meantime.

Any advice on which device would be a good, reliable, affordable option?
