Are Fakes This Good??
So I bought a CRBN Genesis 4 paddle off of Ebay around $140. After I pulled the trigger, I started researching and realized only then how common counterfeit paddles have become. I received the paddle and after careful scrutiny, I decided it was fake.
Meanwhile, I bought the same paddle - TFG4 from CRBN directly. Comparing both now, they look DAMN similar. If the first one is fake, it's an amazing fake. I would assume it came from the same factory.
Though they are extremely close, here are the points that give me doubt as to it being "real".
This is the biggest clue: The serial number on the Ebay version shows up on other listings on other paddles. (25184 / TFG4
The QR code on the Ebay special open an active link.
The zipper on the Ebay cover is of slightly less quality than the CRBN.
I can't seem to find any detailed descriptors or photos of these paddles, but there are a LOT of them on Ebay. Many start at $50 bids, many are between $100-$180. The only explanation I have is that they are being made at the same factory. Of course, I have no idea what is inside the paddles, so the internals may differ. But the amount of external attention given to these fakes are amazing.
Does anyone have any other information on these fake CRBN paddles? I intend on calling them this week. I'll let you know what I learn.
