AGOT – Founder’s Seats : 146 Special Buildings, 126 Men-at-Arms & 60 Unique Weapons

After several weeks of intensive development, AGOT – Founder’s Seats has reached the point where I am comfortable stepping back from major development for a while.

The next major expansion of the mod is planned around Silk & Silver. Until then, I will be taking roughly a three-month break from large-scale development, aside from necessary fixes, compatibility work, and maintenance.

Over the past few weeks — particularly the last two — my wife and I have spent a considerable amount of time testing, refining, and restructuring the mod so that this version is as stable and playable as possible.

Current Content

146 Special Buildings
126 unique Men-at-Arms types
60 named weapon heirlooms with custom icons and in-game 3D models

The artifact system has also received a substantial rework.

Each heirloom is connected to its respective ancestral seat, while 59 designs can also be used through AGOT’s Valyrian steel reforging system, allowing them to become part of new dynastic stories rather than existing only as predefined artifacts.

The Marshal’s Men Integration

The Marshal’s Men is now fully integrated directly into Founder’s Seats.

If you previously used the standalone version, you should now disable it when playing with Founder’s Seats in order to avoid loading the same content twice.

This integration is part of the broader effort to consolidate the mod, reduce unnecessary dependencies, and keep its growing collection of Men-at-Arms content in one place.

Founder’s Seats has grown considerably beyond its original scope, and this release is intended to serve as the main stable content version before the next development phase.

Version Notice

Founder’s Seats is currently maintained for the version of Crusader Kings III officially supported by CK3AGOT.

At the moment, that is:

CK3AGOT Beta 0.5.2.1
Crusader Kings III 1.19.0.6

The current CK3 1.20.x branch is not yet the officially supported AGOT version, so I recommend remaining on the CK3 version supported by the main AGOT mod.

Once AGOT moves to the newer CK3 version, Founder’s Seats will be reviewed, tested, and updated accordingly.

Thank You

Thank you to everyone who has tested the mod, reported issues, shared suggestions, created compatibility patches, included it in collections, or simply played a campaign with it.

With a project of this size, I cannot promise that every small issue has been eliminated, but I have tried to leave the mod in the best possible state before taking a short development break.

For now, I hope Founder’s Seats gives you more ways to make your houses, armies, ancestral weapons, and strongholds feel genuinely unique.

Why reclaim Moria when you can build your own? I expanded the underground in CK3’s LOTR mod.

I looked at the White Mountains and thought: that’s a suspicious amount of mountain without a dwarven kingdom underneath it.

So this a submod.

It expands the underground in CK3: Realms in Exile, because mountains should be more than something you march around.

The White Mountains can finally become your own Khazad-dûm. Not reclaiming someone else’s legendary halls, but building the homeland your descendants will desperately try to reclaim after you inevitably make terrible decisions.

Prefer a different frontier? Restore the dwarven colonies in the East. Unite them into a mountain realm and stand against Sauron from a direction he’d probably rather not have to worry about.

Unless, of course, you’re playing the orcs.

Mordor’s mountains are open for digging too. Carve into the rock, spread beneath the peaks, and give the Free Peoples another reason to hate living next door. Those eastern mountains could become a dwarven stronghold against the Shadow… or fall under orc warlords with very different ideas about interior decorating.

I wanted both sides of that fantasy: dwarves carving out a new golden age, and orcs making everyone regret leaving the mountains unattended.

A new Khazad-dûm in the White Mountains, a dwarven comeback in the East, or an orc underground empire — where are you digging first?

LotR Mountain Holdings - expanding the mountains and underground realms of Middle-earth

I've been working on LotR Mountain Holdings, a map expansion for LotR: Realms in Exile focused on mountain settlements and underground territories.

It adds 301 holdings across 66 duchies, with connections to existing settlements and more opportunities for Dwarven, Orcish and Goblin colonisation. The main aim is to expand the playable world while keeping the new territories consistent with the surrounding geography.

Other additions include 22 special sites, natural landmarks, restorable ruins, new rulers and regional heraldry. The expansion also introduces the Silverhair Dwarves, a people of Broadbeam ancestry with original, setting-inspired history and distinct units.

Why can’t I have a castle like that? Fine, I’ll build a better one!

Hey everyone!

Have you ever looked at the great castles, fortresses, and monuments of Crusader Kings III and thought: “Why can’t my dynasty have something like that?”

Well… now it can.

Founder’s Seats – Vanilla lets you build your own unique special seat, field distinctive Men-at-Arms tied to it, and continue expanding your dynasty’s legacy with new monuments and landmarks.

After all, every great monument we admire today had to start somewhere. Why shouldn’t yours?

Steam Workshop mods suddenly stopped downloading on Boosteroid

Has anyone else recently started having problems with Steam Workshop mods on Boosteroid?

I've been using Boosteroid for several months and Workshop mods used to download and work normally. However, during the last week, they suddenly stopped downloading in several games.

I've noticed the issue in games such as:

  • Crusader Kings III
  • Victoria 3
  • Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
  • and some other titles

One thing these games seem to have in common is that they use their own launcher, so I'm wondering if that could somehow be related.

I understand that Boosteroid doesn't officially support manually installed third-party mods, but Steam Workshop has worked perfectly fine for me until now, and Boosteroid has previously mentioned Workshop mods as something that generally shouldn't conflict with the service.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? If so, which games are affected for you?

I'm trying to figure out whether this is a general Boosteroid/Steam Workshop issue or something affecting only certain games with external launchers.
