In case anyone has forgotten: Beth's father is a felon, convicted of insurance fraud as a dentist.

With longtime, loyal staff being let go, this seemed an opportune time for a reminder.

Are numbers out for how many people played the VR version of VII they insisted are putting out?

I remember seeing the ad for it initially, and then nothing about it since (not even on this sub).

Also, was it 2K or Firaxis that decide this would be a wise use of resources?

I absolutely despise A.I., but I might have found a use for it...

Even though A.I churns out soulless brain-rot slop that is the antithesis of art, I might be able to forgive it if it can help me to see my dream come to life:
A three hour long film adaptation of BG3 where Tav is played by the late, great Norm Macdonald. It might take a few more years for the tech to catch up to my vision, but I really think this could work.

I was just given an account warning for quoting ETM on this sub.

It came in only a couple minutes after I posted, so it must have been an AI auto-mod.

The quote in question: "Find this guy. You know what to do." This was in response to someone's comment referencing ETM and the Jerry call.

The reason for the warning: encouraging violence.

AI really is going to ruin everything.

Ask Our Historians! We're Answering Your Civ VII History Questions

Ever wondered what goes into bringing history to life in Civilization VII? Now’s your chance to ask!

We’re pulling our Firaxis Senior Historians Finn, Emily, and Andrew away from their research to answer your burning questions. Ask us about our civ and leader rosters, the new Brush & Blade content, our historical inspirations, or anything else narrative- or history-related in Civ VII.

Just a quick reminder to keep things civilized in the comments! We’re keeping future projects under wraps - so while we’d love to chat about what’s next, we’ll have to give you a diplomatic ‘no comment’ on unannounced stuff. Otherwise, we’re all yours.

Drop your questions here over the next couple of days, and we’ll be rounding up our favorites across channels to share in a separate, dedicated post on the 26th!

Harper and the Waterloo Medal

This is going to going to come across as overly minutia-obsessed, but does anyone know if Harper, at this point a civilian, would have been eligible for the award of the Waterloo Medal? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waterloo_Medal

On that point, were there historical examples, from Waterloo, of former British soldiers who happened to be in the area at the time of the battle who attached themselves to their old regiments?

The hotel in the most recent Bald video.

What medical risks would there be just from lying down on the mattress in that hotel room? Even if you kept your clothes on, would contact be enough for herpes, hepatis, etc?

Episode "Sharpe's Gold" pushed it with plausibility

Out of all the episode's "Sharpe's Gold" was the one that really strained the ability to suspend disbelief, especially its climax. While I could sort of see the possibility of a particularly eccentric Spanish partisan equipping himself with an old family heirloom, like a Conquistador's helmet or breastplate when going into battle, the idea that an Aztec-inspired cult (complete with a large cave complex and giant stone statues of deities) that carried out ritual human sacrifice endured for three centuries right under the noses of the Inquisition pushed this episode into the realm of fantasy.

Is VII the "New Coke" of the Civilization Series?

For those unfamiliar with New Coke:

In 1985, Coca Cola reformulated their soda, with disastrous results. The launch of "New Coke" was so disastrous, and public back-lash was so intense, that the old recipe was quickly reintroduced as "Coca Cola Classic" which is still sold to this day.

A conspiracy theory went around saying that the entire thing was planned by the Coca Cola corporation to increase a public demand for the original flavor of Coke.

Could 2K or Firaxis have had something similar in mind with VII? Have a launch that was so disastrous and so poorly received of a product that drastically altered a long-standing and beloved icon, just to get players to realize how much they loved the "classic" Civ gameplay?
