First 5k in over a decade

Completed my first official 5k race this past Saturday. Only had to stop and walk twice for about 20 seconds each. Been training since May and so grateful to have completed it without any injury.

Gen 4 Hatchback is the lightweight Camping Meta

Just wanted to take a moment to appreciate just how meta this vehicle has been on my camping adventures so far this summer. So grateful to have picked one up back in 2020.

Epic Trinket Temple Pulls

curious to know what neat and interesting items people were able to score at the trinket temple or elsewhere throughout the fest.

What are the must see sleeper artists

I ask this before any fest I go to, but am always interested in what everyone here thinks are the must-see sleeper artists or up and comers from this year's lineup.

We need to talk about Daily Bread Fans at Elements

IMO the Cloud Conductor set on Sunday was an absolute circus. From fans dressed like bread, bread totems, bread raining in every direction, and 1 man consuming an entire gourmet sour dough lough mid set. The entire time, I felt like I was being baptized into a cult I never asked to be a part of and loving every moment.

My question is, are all his shows like this or were the vibes amplified due to the fest?!?

Forest 26 Totem Mega Thread

Really interested in seeing photos of everyone's favorite totems from this year. While I saw tons of unique and hilarious entries, I think this one claimed the number 1 spot in my heart this year.

Is anyone else here stressing about camping yet?

I just feel that there is so much gear and items necessary in order to have a successful and comfortable time.

A lot more than I ever considered at the start of this.

Shame be to the Mazda engineer that designed the rear windshield wiper

Good luck to anyone trying to attempt to install a new one on their own.

Forceps were my tool of choice, thank god I had a pair.

How to pack up/ clean a muddy tent after a whole weekend of rain?

Hi I am camping this weekend and it’s raining all weekend after the first night my tent is already pretty muddy and is a larger 4 person tent that you can stand up fully in (REI wonderland 4) any recommendations on how to pack up my tent/ clean it with it being muddy. I have about an hour drive home after my trip so unsure how bad packing my tent slightly wet and muddy would be

First O'ahu Visit: photos + itinerary

Recently completed my first visit to Oʻahu and had an absolutely wonderful experience. I’d recommend nearly everything on my itinerary, though there are a few caveats worth mentioning for future visitors.

First, while many of the hikes were absolutely stunning and well worth it, hikes such as Koko Head and the pillbox trails do require a reasonable level of fitness and awareness. Lanikai Pillbox includes several steep sections with loose terrain, while Puʻu o Hulu felt significantly more remote and less traveled. Portions of Pu'u o Hulu run alongside fairly steep drop-offs, and the atmosphere there felt much more rugged and raw compared to some of the more tourist-oriented hikes on the island.

Second, I’ll mention that the Waikīkī Aquarium is very small. In my case, the stars aligned and I was able to attend during the 19th Annual Mauka to Makai Environmental Expo, which added a lot of extra activity and value to the experience. Under normal circumstances, however, I would probably consider it more of a 30–60 minute stop at most. If choosing between the aquarium and the Honolulu Zoo, I would personally say the zoo offers the richer overall experience for the price.
