Disappointing Day At The Old Home Site
I had a brief chance to detect the old site I grew up on. The house has long since burned down but the new owners granted me permission to hunt. We only had a couple hours. I was really hoping and half expecting to find at least one silver coin. The homestead has been there and occupied for well over 100 years. Unfortunately we only found a total of $1.12 in clad. The oldest coin only dating back to 1972. I did find an interesting steel ball, that looks as if it was drilled and tapped. I will clean and check it when I get back home. I drove 800 miles for this dig. Unfortunately circumstances had me very limited on time to hunt.
Disappointing Day At The Old Homestead
I got to detect my old home site today. It was built sometime before 1914. Unfortunately we didn't have a lot of time and only produced $1.12 in clad. The oldest dating back to 1972. It was very disappointing for me, as I traveled 800 miles for this dig. Only to get maybe 3 hours. Not my fault or the new property owners. It was more the people I had with me. Anyway, I did find a mysterious steel ball that looks as if it has been drilled and tapped. I will do some research on it when I get back home. I hope I get another chance to hit this ground. As I said, the house (now burned down) was built prior to 1914. It was on an old tobacco farm. There should be much more than what was found. I did not get to do a proper grid, and only hit the area's of travel that I was aware of, or suspected.
The quarter in the last pic was found at my mother's new house, not the old home site. It was a hair off from silver, 1966. So close, bit still eluding me.
Rare Komatsuraptor Tooth
Had a very interesting day magnet fishing.
Recovered from the depths after millions of years of evolution... or maybe after falling off an excavator. 🤔
(For those wondering, it's actually an excavator/backhoe bucket tooth. Around here we call it a Komatsuraptor Tooth. 🦖🧲)
Besides the usual lures, hooks, weights and bottle caps; I also found two knives. A cheap Whitetail Cutlery folding knife. The big hit of the day was a Victorinox Hunter Pro folding knife.
A Butthead
With help like this, who needs it? She decided to help fix the couch cover.
Good Day At The Ramp
I haven't posted in a while. Actually I havenbeen out magnet fishing in a while. So, after I got done regular fishing I tossed the old magnet and got 2 knives, a Rapala lure, an almost new fishing pole and reel, and a Mercury Marine Trophy Plus 4 blade prop. Not bad for an hours work.
4th of July Tot Lot Finds
I was going to just check out this park for a couple hours. I ended up there for a good 4 hours. Best haul to date this year for clad and costume jewelry.
So Close Again
But the silver still eludes me. I found a 1965 quarter, and two 1965 dimes in my neighors yard. Oldest penny was 1959. This was a morning of misses 😕

Hiawassee River Walleye
Caught a couple of southern walleye this morning. Well i promise I caught two. Could only load one pic for some reason. Second pic in comments hopefully.

Trinkets and Stuff
I don't post much. Mostly because I find
a lot of trash
a lot of clad
So that's like what every is getting, but this past week I was rewarded with a lot of trinkets and those two relics I posted earlier (and now).
3 ringer and round ball
Found my first 3 ringer and a 50cal round ball the other day. Figured the finds were post worthy. Usually all I find is clad and pull tabs.
Took the day off from dirt fishing and went magnet fishing
I got the usual load of scrap rusty stuff but got 4 nice items. A pair of OXO needle nose pliers, a Fiskar's pair of scissors, a complete set of Apple ear buds, and a 4" heavy duty ratchet strap (not pictured).
Button ID
I found this button in my yard a little while back. I thought it came off some kids ROTC uniform. My house was built in the 1950's but the surrounding area (Chattanooga, TN) is rich with history. Anyway, I was cataloging my finds and decided to look this button up. Everything I'm finding is pointing towards WWI era. Has anyone seen this partibutton and can help nail down the find?
GE branded
I found this information a tot lot in Chattanooga, TN. At first I thought a civil war relic but after cleaning it I see it is stamped GE and "made in USA." I'm guessing some sort of electrical fuse bar? IDK
Ok, I bought a spring kit from TK Custom. They included a 7.5lb. and an 8lb. spring. But they do not say which is which. I have searched the internet and YouTube and the TK Custom website to no avail. Google AI crap has contraindicated itself so I can't trust anything it says.
Has anyone installed this kit and can say which spring is the 8lb and which is the 7.5lb?
I usually wear an adventurer style leather hat in the winter, and a Panama Jack fedora in the summer. I thought I would try a straw hat this year. I love it. I've had lot's of comments and one guy even tried to buy it from me 😆 🤣 😂.
I just got this little beauty on a trade. I have a TK Custom plug on the way and will be removing the Hillary lock and plugging the hole. I also have a TK Custom spring kit with an extended firing pin. I will also be doing a polish job the the trigger. Thanks for looking.
