Lost Neo on January 12th 2026, he lived with us since he was just few days old

My brother found him as a very small kitten on august 2011, when we took him to the vet he determined that he was at most 1 week old. He was abandoned by a heartless person, left to die all alone. But my brother found him and we took him in. I was only 7 when this happened.

He was a very beuatiful cat and a cuddle bug, sadly he loved to eat and at that time no one in the family knew anything about cat obesity, and he ended up extremley fat and with diabetes. We got him to a healthy weight, and 2 years after his diagnosis he recovered! Sadly his diabetes was difficult to control at first and he ended up with neuropathy, he recovered the functionality of his back legs but lost most of the muscle, and he ended up with arthritis on his back legs and column. But he still loved being with us and play and food.

When he was 11 y/o he got an abcess and as a result lost almost half of his face, he was lucky to preserve both eyes. Still, his skin grew and hair gre back!

In 2024, his diabetes came back. This time it was better controlled, but he had lost a lot of weight at this point. His diabetes got more and more difficult to control, his arthritis got worse, and his mind stated to decline. During this time he had annual check ups with bloodworks, in 2025 it came back as normal. But then in october he stated to have diarrhea and constipation episodes, and his BG was impossible to control. It was slow, at first it only happened one day, then a few more in november, but then in christmas he had a really bad week. So I took him to the vet. Low temperature, his heart wasn't right and advanced kidney failure. My mother and I took him home for the weekend, gave him a good last few days where he ate his gabourite food and got all the pets and sunbathed. Tbh, the only difference was that he got to eat whatever he wanted. Then we had to let him go on monday 12 January, 2026, at 2 pm.

Can you help me with these FT-IR spectra?

First photo are the mollecules, and second photo are the IR spectra given, we have to assign each mollecule to its spectrum. I think the first and fifth scpetrum are of esthers due to their absorption at 1200 cm-1, and that the first spectrum is of compound number V while the fifth spectrum is of compound II due to its broak absorption peak at >3000 cm-1.

I finally figured it out

I'm just happy to say that, finally, I got Junior's allergies under control after many years. He's 5 y/o and we started this allergy road when he was 1 y/o. He's a sensible guy and can't take steroids nor apoquel nor fortiflora, it was not funny discovering this.

The licking and infections on his toes stopped when everyone at home stopped feeeding him chicken, so I know that he at least has an intolerancce to it. Luckily he does not react to small amounts, which means that I can feed him things like hill's lamb and rice without worrying about a reaction to cross contamination. The other day I almost got a heart attack because one of his paws became very swollen and red and he was licking it non stop and, of course, it was saturday night. I cleaned it and put a cone on him and next morning it was gone, it looks like he reacted to something he stepped on and by cleanning the area I removed it and inflammation went down.

He also has pollen allergies, but they only bother him on february and may, so he gets 1 or 2 cytopoint shots a year and so far it's been good. When it's not srping he no longer strachs his face unless it's a windy and/or dry day, and even then is minimal.

Does this mean he's healthy? Well, ast month he lived at the vet with so many visits first for a dog attack and then for an unrelated health issue with his tail that I'm still keeping an eye on. At this point vets are surprised when he shows for a vaccine appoinment LOL

Can somebody explain this? Cat maintains weight but her bcs is lower

So, my cat is going to turn 3 y/o in august. Since she was about 6 months old she maintained a weight of 3.5 kg and was eating raw food, but last october I changed her to kibble and she got a bit overweight. You could see and feel that her bcs was 6/9, we took her to the vet in february and he said that her ideal weight is 3.5-3.7 kg and put her on Hill's metabolic dry food.

Since then her weight oscillates between 4-4.1 kg, which is very frustrating. Today she was 4.1 kg, I decided to check her bcs and now she's a 4/9! How can her bcs be lower and her weight the same?! Did she grow or something?!

Also, I'd like to add that in may we moved from a big house with a yard and stairs to a really small flat, so her activity decreased.

Dog starting to refuse his food

Las thursday my dog got hurt and now he has to be on meds until friday. Thing is, the pill is imcedibly bitter and hard on the stomach, so it has to be given right after eating and disguised in a treat. Well, my dog has started to refuse the kibble and go directly for the treat.

I put her on a harness and she forgot how to walk

She can walk perfectly fine with the harness inside, and she can walk perfevtly without the harness outside, but the combination of the two makes her forget how to walk XD

Off leash dog attacked my dog

I was walking with my dog, he was leashed.

Another dog, a black labrador, approached, mine doesn't trust unknown dogs and he got tense, then the other dog attacked him. And this is what he did to my dog.

Owner said that he's friendly while my dog was screaming in pain and bleeding, I said that he was f bleeding, and he said that it was my fault because he was leashed.

I called my mother and we took him to the vet, thankfully it's only a big hematoma and it needs to drain on its own. He gor antibiotics and pain meds.

I texted the owners and thankfully they covered the vet bill and were very apologetic, they did say that he had never done that before and I replied that dogs are animals and sometimes they can react in an unexpected way and that's why they must be leashed.
