Trailer Brake Controller Recommendations

So, I just picked up a 2022 Frontier but I need to put in a Trailer Brake Controller in order to tow a 10ft trailer.

Any recommendations?

I'm in Canada....eh?

Edit: I'm assuming Redarc is the one to go with.

Guidance for First "Trip"

So, I just bought a 2020 Indian Scout Bobber for my first bike. The concern is that I have to ride it about an hour and a half back from the dealership.

I'm planning on ripping around an empty area for about 45 minutes to get comfortable with it before I start the ride home.

There's no way to avoid the highway. I know that I'm going to piss people off while I go 5 hm/hr less than the speed limit, but I don't give a shit.

Is there anything I should do? Maybe wear a bright shirt that says "I have no idea what I'm doing"?

I just completed a riding course, so I'm pretty new. Have kevlar pants, padded jacket, full helm, and crash bars in case shit hits the fan.

How fucked am I?

Jump Right in the Deep End or Start Small?

Hopefully this one doesn't break any of the subs rules (no sales or questions about financial value of bike)

Just got my license, but I've been around bikes all my life (Harley's, BSA's, Triumph's, Indian's). Old man left me with his 2005 Indian Scout, but it needs a decent overall (tank relined, battery, fluids, etc.) because it's been sitting for almost a decade. Figure it would be best to start with a lower-sitting bike while I fix up the Scout (I'm only 5'7'').

I'm eye-balling a 2026 Indian Scout Bobber. Always wanted a bobber, but I have limited mechanical knowledge so I figure it would be easier to buy one rather than bobbing an old Honda Rebel or Shadow. Once I get more comfortable for longer trips, I'll be able to take out the 2005 Scout because I know bobbers aren't great for long distance in terms of comfort/storage.

Aside from an uncomfortable seat, are these rides worth it for a first timer?

Do they have any potential problems that I should be wary of?

Other options:

a) Look for a used model, even though that would more than likely require a long trip to ride the bike back, or

b) Just submit to standard recommendations and get something like a Honda Rebel 500 to beat the crap out of while I get used to riding (rode scooters for years, but my 50cc Honda Ruckus was both tiny and slow).

I really, really don't want to buy a cheaper, smaller bike only to inevitably want a larger one after a year, but I do understand the rationality behind do this (dropping the bike, destroying gears, safer while learning riding style). The dealer I'm to going to also has a first time biker owner program where you lease a model for a year before you commit to buying.

Thanks!

Trauma from Seizures

Does anyone else sometimes have a traumatic response to seeing another person seize? Like in a scene for a TV show or movie?

I stopped doing the bacon dance (tonic clonics) years ago after donating a chunk of my temporal lobe to the world of science, but I still tend to break down if I see someone else seizing.

It always gets me by surprise. The scene will happen, I'll kind of think, "oh, look a seizure," and then 9 times out of 10 I'll just break down into tears. It's pretty textbook when it comes to a trauma; just overwhelmed with a combination of memories/emotions to the point that my brain snaps.

Does anyone else go through anything like this?

I'm re-watching The Pitt which is what made this come to mind. Holy fuck do they ever portray bacon dances with accuracy.

Looking for Recommendations

So, getting a new monitor is proving more stressful than I had thought it would be.

I use my computer for a 3-way combo of gaming, movies, and news.

I'm planning on running two monitors (the new one and my old one), where the latter will just have my gpu/cpu temps, maps, etc..

The next Asus PG32UCWM that's getting released seems like a decent balance between picture and text (I know nothing about monitors). At the same time, the thing costs a fortune and OLED monitors seem to be a nightmare in terms of either wreaking while cleaning or arriving damaged.

I should also note that I use the Night Light setting on Windows a lot to try not to fucker my eyes from staring at a bright screen for too long. I also have an astigmatism, so text can get kind of blurry.

Should I go with the Asus PG32UCWM?

Rate My Possible Next Build

RAM and GPU prices are a little chaotic right now, so I'm in no rush to build one. I'll be upgrading my monitor once the new Asus PG32UCWM comes out, but I'm trying to get an idea of how financially doomed I am with this next build.

AMD is coming out with new CPUs in 2027 and the 60 series of GPUs should come out mid-2027, do I'm not at all dedicated to this list. I am just trying to get an idea of the build and how to prioritize spending.

Lots of gaming but also watching digital media. Possibly getting into 3D printing.

Don't be too savage.

Rate My Overkill Next PC

I'm going to be building a PC eventually. I tend to go all out, but they last awhile (still rocking i7-8700k and 1080ti). Crimson Desert seems to be pushing this thing to it's max, so I figure it's time to update.

I'm switching to an AMD CPU but Nvidia GPU (50 series). Figure it's the best of both worlds.

There's a small chance that I might get into 3D printing, but I figure that it would be best to build a separate rig entirely dedicated to it rather than trying to get it all-in-one.

Any recommendations for this crazy build? Anything that would be good to swap if I'm going all out?

Also, I've always wanted a sound card but it seems that they might be irrelevant these days due to increased audio quality?

I'm aiming for minimalism and quietness.

Thanks!

Edit: New Part List. I have no idea why I have a wifi card and I had to change the size of the Fractal case.

To OLED or Not to OLED

I'm planning on building a new rig, and a new monitor is the first step.

I do a decent amount of gaming but also use it a lot for watching movies/TV.

I've narrowed it down to either the MSI or Asus 32" 240hz (whichever is cheapest when the sales come out). Probably going with the MSI given how much everyone shits on Asus for being overpriced.

How much of a concern is burn-in? I have no problem with the maintenance (microfiber + filtered water, nothing else), but this seems to be the only thing I'm worried about.

I use hidden task bars and have the screen set to turn off rather quickly. Heavy user of the sticky-icky vapor, but I have fans and air filters set up, so it's never been an issue.

Is an OLED worth it?

Thanks!
