So this will be a bit of a long one and a bit different from rest of the posts in here. But I wanted to share some experience.

History :

I built and app that was previously made for in-house use only. AI assistant integrated in Google Chat. It was built when the GPT4 came out, no codex, no claude code so kind of dark ages of AI coding.

Idea solid, but I left that company because of mass lay-offs and BS talks from shareholders - "You (the department) are the core of the company and most important one here" while laying off my colleagues . So I just packed bags and took the project with me.

I didn't know actually how to monetize the idea, since making in-house vs selling to others are completely different things. So after some time decided to make SaaS. (It was not so crowded yet at that time ).

Getting first version done :

Since SaaS was the idea, I had to implement the project into google chat. Easy-peasy for someone who's done it, but god damn it was annoying to set everything up. (This was the easiest step in the whole project when I look back at it.

Security - Had to make it BYOK, connectors with knowledge platforms (confluence, sharepoint etc etc.). taking in mind everything had to really understand how to make the platform secure so Vault, only 0auth , celery workers, etc etc etc. took me 3 months only to set up somewhat secure platform.

Second version :

Decided to get into MS teams since Microslop has the biggest marketshare compared to google chat, slack , discord and others.

And boiiiii that was a shit show ready to go down. The bugs in Azure, their partner ship platform etc. Long story short I had to make 2 accounts just to be able to start process to get published in MS marketplace. why? the fuck knows really.

Getting into MS marketplace? Imagine spending a month just because the MS representitive that checks if the app works can't follow guideline "IF YOU COPY BYOK KEY FROM PDF MAKE SURE DELETE SPACES THE PDF CREATES." (I had to provide testing credentials) 4 times I got rejected with a message "App doesn't work" . Checked Vault - yep, they can't even follow simple guideline which was told to them 4 times.

After all of this it was already 8 months done from leaving company to getting into Google chat and MS teams. at this moment the SaaS market started to really explode and had to improve things, so instead of just QA bot trained on internal knowledge made it into sort of AI agent, from chat it can send out any info to other platforms... Easy since the platform already had 90% of skeleton done for this.

MS 365 Cert :

This one nearly broke me, it's the big daddy MS cert, 56 compliance controls starting from GDPR to documents that my company has completed yearly coding safe practices. Soooo many documents. made like 600-900 pages of PDFs, 100-150 screenshots etc. Had to even get other certificates to get the controls done. Soul crushing job for a single dev and I know why the certified apps was almost empty.

The penetration test :

Oh boy, you can call them aliens because they probe everything. And best of all it was free at that time ( no longer available) 1 pen test, and 1 re-pen test . If you fail, either let it go or spend like $4k for another try (or more) that's just for a funny light pressure. Funniest part was when they asked to install 96gb program on my server (it's their probing app) and server was only 80 or so at that time. [Insert the hamster eating a hotdog meme] . I can't really say much what they checked, I guess it was under the NDA but it was rough and it took me the 2nd try to pass it... thank god still free.

What changed after app gets MS 365 Cert :

Jack shit. If you think that becoming 1/2000 to 1/10 apps in marketplace, there are no major increase in sign ups. So Marketplace is not for new client acquisition it's for proving that your app is somewhat safe. (well safer that 99.9999% apps made in the past year for sure).

But personally, I'm really proud to have a badge that only some if not no other solo builder has acquired. Being the only app in Baltic region with such app and most of all the shit I went through doing this solo I'm proud that I didn't crush and cry when eyes already started watering going through all the shit I had to.

Long story short :

Get these big certificates only if clients ask for security approval. Do it for yourself you will learn how many mistakes you make vibe coding. Do not think that when you get into marketplace, get certificate it will get you new clients from it. Most likely it will not.

I'm Senior AdOps and ad trafficker (weird name for a legal profession).

Anyways, when I had to become main contact point of pogrammatic info/debugging I had to learn from Confluence pages and powerpoint slides.

I had some free time in the last 2 weeks so I tried building new learning tool. The tool itself is basically a AdOps flight simulator mostly based on oRTB. I tried making it as close as possible to simulate what I had to do in previous company and added some additional stuff AdOps people tend to solve on daily basis.

Long story short : When I was adops I had to learn from powerpoint and confluence pages. In order to change that I made a AdOps flight sim.

The engine is quite good behind it but might be have issues with UX and some tweaks.

I'm Senior Adops working in industry for 4 years and Ad trafficker for 2.

Was wondering how you all learned about all these complicated topics like debugging RTB deals (vast tags, delivery issues, SSP/DPS malfunctions, pricings etc.).

For me after working even for 3 years with open RTB and direct campaigns it was quite difficult to become specialized in RTB to become the main contact point in company about these issues.

All the steps of debugging, the huge process tree of how RTB works. The huge amount of SSPs and DSPs really wished there was some better way than just learning from internal docs and scattered guides and tutorials across internet.

I know there are some good ways to learn it but most are entry level even if the amount of info seems like it's something more.

My idea is making some platform like Adops Flight simulator where you can learn by doing not just by reading/listening. It could also be community driven.

I understand that getting really senior level materials might be a bit difficult as Adops for me seems to be more like "i have a gut feeling that something is wrong" profession instead of "do everything as written in guidebooks" .

Question :

Is there something like this already out there or the info to really learn Adops is very scattered and mostly entry level stuff?

I know, I made #1 mistake of SaaS building - find target audience before making anything.

At first the project started as in-house project 2 and a half year ago for a company that works in Online Ad space.

After 5 months of in-house development I've left the company and ever since have bee building my product.

I've gotten really far. Very close to MS full certificate far. (if only the final report wouldn't take 5-10 business days after I already know the pen test is done). I don't want to jinx it....

Anyways , the products is basically this :

Knowledge bot with Agentic workflow build directly inside MS Teams and Google Chat.

Admin does the setup, rest of the team simply installs the bot ( or admin simply installs it for them).

You can connect almost all major knowledge bases directly - Google drive, Confluence, MS sharepoint, onenote, dropbox etc etc. Or simply upload files directly.

Everything goes to OpenAI vector store (Full BYOK).

Each department or team has it's own bot so lets say Sales doesn't get a bot that knows things about IT. Separate instructions, and even workflows.

The bots strongest capability - Let's say you have a report about weekly Ad spend. Ask bot if there is something wrong with it. Bot checks with internal knowledge and creates ticket to (let's say) Jira for Sales, IT etc.

All workflows are custom built directly from dashboard. Worfklow is JSON output via webhook so the workflow can be almost anything.

All of the data sent out is gathered from the chat and gives preview in that chat with the info it will send so user can confirm or cancel (safeguard).

Anyways, I've got so far and feel like the project can be in a very good place if the certificate goes through, but I just can't understand what is my target audience.

The core I've managed to build is so universal ( can easily swap AI platform, workflows, QA platforms) that it's difficult to understand what the target audience actually is.

Can you guys help me out from the parts I described and suggest the target audience? ChatGPT and Claude says it's HR or IT or Sales. But something feels off targeting those.

Is there any tool out there that works with AI interviews?

What I'm looking for is basically if recruiter uses AI interview - AI chatbot which interviews you, is there a tool that makes so AI answers for you.

Basically the interview becomes AI vs AI (you vs recruiter) instead of you in person and AI chatbot (recruiter).

I know some interview assistants exists there but I don't see such option anywhere.

Maybe dumb question, but how do you guys handle Teams apps at work?

We had a case where someone wanted to add an app from Microsoft marketplace and the answer was basically yeah should be fine, its from Microsoft.

I always thought the same. Store app = probably checked enough.

Then someone mentioned there is also this Microsoft 365 certified thing, which apparently is not the same as just being listed there.

So where do you draw the line?

For example if its a small whiteboard or poll app, I get it. Who cares maybe. But if the app connects to users, files, chats, calendars, company docs or workflows, would you still allow it just because its in the marketplace?

Or do you actually look for the Microsoft 365 certified badge before approving stuff like that?

Trying to figure out if this is a real thing admins care about, or if people mostly just approve marketplace apps unless they look sketchy.
