Glaciar conditions after the heatwave of these days in the Alps.

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has recently been on the glaciers around Monte Rosa and can do a report of the conditions.

In a few days we (group of 2) are going to start from Plateau Rosà, then do Breithorn W and sleep at bivacco rossi e volante. Then Castore and Polluce. The next day from the Lys glacier we wanted to take the Liskamm Nose and then sleep at bivacco giordani. The last day, Black Horn, Punta Parrot, capanna margherita and back to the cable way to Staffal.

I heard there is almost no snow and live ice, so we are bringing a few ice screws. I'm most worried about the Liskamm Nose under these conditions.

Also, any picture to better get an idea of the conditions would be great!

Thanks in advance :)

Bivouac near Lac de Lioson (Vaud). Any experiences or tips on where to pitch?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a calm 2-day hike (not during the weekend) around the Lac de Lioson area, and I would love to bivouac for one night (pitching a small tent at dusk and leaving early at dawn).

I’ve been reading up on the rules for the Vaud canton. My understanding is that a single-night bivouac is somewhat tolerated as long as you are strictly above the tree line. However, I also read that pitching a tent directly on the shores of the main lake is a big no-go (both for environmental reasons and because of the restaurant/private management there).

Has anyone here actually bivouacked in this area before? If you did, where did you pitch your tent to find flat ground and have a peaceful night?

Alternatively, I was thinking about hiking a bit further up towards the "Petits Lacs" to be out of sight from the main lake and the restaurant. Is this a good option? Are there flat spots up there?

Any shared experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
