Bronze - love or hate?
I don’t see enough bronze in the wild. This watch is brilliant! The gradient from black to brown on the dial is killer. It’s such a great casual desk diver on the weathered leather strap. Anybody else have a bronze CW?

Looking for a watch for my son, and I like the spirit Zulu. Do you think it fits his wrist okay?
I am debating between two watches to gift my wife for our 2nd wedding anniversary this fall. I am between the medium size Cartier Panthere and the 31mm Grey Rolex Datejust fluted bezel on Jubilee bracelet. Both watches are available to me so no need to factor in the Rolex AD games.
The Cartier presents a few thousand dollars in savings vs the Datejust, but somehow I feel better buying a Datejust knowing how sought after they are. Obviously this is not something she will ever sell, but it’s always nice knowing you have some value retention.. that’s just how my mind works when dealing with an expensive purchase and yes, I know a watch is not an investment. The Grey dial isn’t as difficult to get being not as sought after, but that is her favorite color dial aside from chocolate. I am not spending the money on a two tone chocolate dial and frankly two tone isn’t easy to daily.
My wife loves both equally. From those whose wife owns either of these, what are your thoughts? Which would be an easier every day wear? I want to get her something that she won’t want to take off. For daily wear I’m leaning towards the Cartier. From a quality perspective (and I’m biased towards automatic movements) I think the Rolex wins.
What are your thoughts?
I love simply designed watches that truly allow you to go anywhere and do anything. The Rolex Explorer, the Tudor Black Bay 39, the Omega Aqua Terra, the Tag Heuer Carerra, the Christopher Ward Sealander, Tissot gentlemen, Breitling Chronomat, the Grand Seiko SBGA467 spring drive, and the Longines Conquest are some of my favorite pieces from each brand. I believe in wearing what you love, and while some find the lack of complications or intricacies uninteresting, I see just great timeless watches with beautiful dials.
Enter my Longines Conquest 41mm in blue. The polished links and bezel allow this watch to dress up, while the fit, dial, and simplicity allow me to dress down. On rubber or leather this watch is an easy change out the strap for any kind of occasion watch.

I have this watch listed for sale, but I might have a hard time letting it go. I was selling it new/unworn but caved after looking at it for a few weeks and decided to let it drive my collection for a bit.
My thoughts: I thought it would be too dressy to be a go anywhere do anything sort of watch with the polished bezel and semi polished links. I was so wrong. It has the perfect amount of flash but can be dressed down easily. The blue dial changes in the light from a beautiful blue to a dark almost black blue in dim lighting. This is the 41mm size for reference.
It is still up for sale for the right offer, but for now I’m going to enjoy my time with it! I might even splurge and grab a blue rubber strap to make it even more casual.
Anybody else have a conquest experience?
