Ruffian Racket Rogue or Thief Racket Rogue? Spirit Warrior Archetype Viability Discussion.

These two rackets really love the Spirit Warrior archetype. They both seem rather effective, but what differences in tactics and strategy can be expected between Ruffian Racket and Thief Racket?

How do folks feel about the Deep Backgrounds variant rule?

People's experience with this? Is this variant rule effective even if only one person, I in this case, use it to get some character ideas?

Wait, does Digital Assessment for Infosphere Director use just the Computer Skill for Recall knowledge?

I feel dumb asking this, but do I not need to max out recall knowledge skills to use Digital Assessment? Does it just run off of the Computer Skill?

If not, why am I recommended to max out Computer skill in so many guides for the Infosphere director?

Making an Assassin from the Assassin's Creed franchise: How would you go about it?

The gist of this discussion topic is making a build to live out the fantasy of being an assassin from this franchise.

There is a general share of mechanics between all the protagonists like Altair, Ezio, Connor, etc. Also, there are slight differences in the personality and skill set. People might have a picture in their head of the ideal main character among all the titles.

Feel free to give a general chassis for an Assassin and/or a build that best emulates whoever is your favourite main character or characters from these titles.

I feel Altair is the most dedicated to stealth as a character. Ezio is certainly more charismatic. Connor is a straight tank. Edward is a dual-wielder. So many characters.

How to make the most out of the Hunter Background? More specifically, the Tanning Lore skill?

Obviously, a character using ranged weapons is a given. Trained Survival is easy. Survey Wildlife is useful.

The main thing I want to try and run with is the Tanning Lore skill. I imagine I can use it for harvesting creatures for materials. I feel there are grounds for using this skill to recall knowledge on any creature in terms on how to damage them. Plenty of creatures have a hide or skin. Anything else I could be missing?

Goblin Ancestry: What classes are they suited for?

Obviously, Rogue is a given. Though, I am sure other classes have use for the Goblin Ancestry.

This is an optimization question.

Nimble Shield Hand: What is its limits?

This little nugget of a feat provided by the Bastion Archetype fluctuates quite a bit in its usefulness based on how it is interpreted. How far can it go? Can you Battle Medicine with it?

Can I hold and use stuff like potions with my shield hand?

Can I hold a one handed weapon in my shield hand, but it is completely useless unless I swap my current weapon with it?

Can I climb with my shield hand?

What damage type is most common from enemies?

Sometimes, a theoretical character has the attributes required for most armors, getting the same ac of +5 or +6 from armors. It comes down to factors like cost, mobility, and traits. Armor Specialization is one thing to consider. Between Piercing, Slashing, and Bludgeoning, what is the preference?

I have the choice of Scale Mail, Breastplate, or Hide Armor for my character.

Dissecting the Size Up feat.

How am I supposed to use Size Up? Do I need to have it constantly on in Exploration or can I switch to it just before combat? Do I need to stealth to be able to observe an individual for 1 minute to get its benefits, or does it just proc as combat starts?

The part where you can study a specific individual on the Infosphere for ten minutes is not too hard to decipher, but what about the networking and gathering information for one hour option? Does this replace Diplomacy's Gather Information and/or Computer's Access Infosphere?

Advice on building an effective Infosphere Director?

I am not sure if there would be diminishing returns if I become at least trained in some or all skills for effective Recall Knowledge. Can I bank on just the Computer skill? How do I become aplomb on every subject?

Does Digital assessment and Access Infosphere stack effectively with skills like Arcane, Occultism, etc in terms of Recall Knowledge?

Is it viable for an archer to sometimes be in melee range with enemies?

Obviously, an archer should start out with some distance from the enemy. However, when an enemy closes the distance, is it viable for a ranged character to hold their ground instead of retreating? I imagine with feats like Quick Draw or ancestry feats that grant unarmed attacks even if both hands are occupied like Tusks, archers can be decent in melee.

With ancestry feats like Tusks, Fighter archers have Reactive Strike as an option, or help with flanking if need be.

Heavy usage of Point Blank Stance, I would reckon.

How to be optimal as an Envoy in Starfinder 2nd Edition?

This question has two parts: How to build and play an effective Envoy overall, and how to do so specifically for the Infosphere Director Leadership Style?

I am aware that there is a subreddit specifically for Starfinder 2E, but the community there is rather quaint at the moment, affecting my questions' ability to get a more bountiful weight of responses to analyze. I have already posted similar questions on that subreddit, now I am dropping some here for more perspectives.

This is a rather specific question for a subreddit representing a wide slew of systems, so I don't expect a lot of people to know what the hell I am asking. I am happy to get any responses from people with experience or interest in Starfinder 2nd Edition.

Thank you for reading my post.

What backgrounds are most useful or fitting as an Envoy?

What fits with Envoy in general?

Side question not needed to be answered, but probably easier because of the specificity, what background complements the Infosphere Director Leadership Style?

Can an Envoy duel wield a melee weapon and a ranged weapon? Can I be an Imperial Commissar?

This might be an issue, since I can imagine trying to do such would choke up ability points.

I want to be an Imperial Commissar, but an actually just and fair one with a sickeningly sweet heart. An Imperial Commissar that would get shot by the Imperium for his egalitarian nature.

How do I make the best Envoy?

What are the Yesses, nos and grey areas of Envoy? Melee versus Ranged? Use both hands for weapons or leave a freehand, perhaps even go unarmed?

Others who have tried Envoy, what tips can you give an aspirant neophyte?

Most efficient weapon and shield combination on a Fighter?

Most efficient combo of a weapon and a shield on a Fighter?

Would it be viable to grab up Agile Shield Grip and Double slice to attack with both?

I am planning on using Intimidation a lot, especially in combination with the Marshal Archetype.

Does it make sense to have access to all three of the main damage types by having a slashing weapon, Shield spike for piercing, and normal shield bash as a backup for Bludgeoning damage?

Should maneuvers be more my focus, with weapons like the flail or shield augmentation to have access to Trip?

I am playing with both Human and Hobgoblin ancestry feats as an option.
