FOMO

Not really sure what this would really fall under, but I want to know how other people in my situation went about this.

Now I’ll start with saying that this honestly isn’t that big of a deal, and just want to type out my thoughts. So for my freshman year I was at a different college, and transferred here as a sophomore. Now that next semester is starting, I’ve been seeing a bunch of videos like pond hopping, fish camp, and just the freshman traditions.

I guess I just feel fomo- 😭 The school I was in freshman year didn’t have much school spirit, and when I was a sophomore here finally experienced what it’s like to be in a school I can be proud to be in.

What I’m getting at is I feel like my freshman year went down the drain, and there aren’t much „traditions” that come with being a sophomore/transfer. I just sometimes really wish I was able to experience freshman year here idk.

Park west

Howdy!

I’ll be moving into park west this fall and am planning out my room. I’ll be in the 3x3 towers, and my only reference for the actual scale of the room is the 4x4 XL cause that’s the only tour they offered.

How similar in size are the 3x3 tower rooms to the 4x4? Or are they closer to the 3x3 Flats?

Thank you! 😅

Park west

Howdy!

I’ll be moving to park west this fall, and I’m really confused on one thing. I got a 3x3 apartment and was given room C. Is that the one is the hallway or the separate one?

When looking at the photos on apartments.com is shows to be the separate one, but the office said it’s the one in the hallway??

I’m just really confused 😭

Classes

I don’t think I can change them now, but during add and drop week should I take A&P 2 and Biochem at the same time, or swap one out for STAT 302..?

Park west

Not sure if I’m using the right tag, but does anyone know the dimensions of the rooms? I got the 3x3 tower and I’ll be bringing my own furniture from my old place.

I know pw gives furniture, but I already bought the one I’m using and don’t want it to go to waste 😭 Plus I really like it lol

I tried using apartments.com to measure out the rooms but the tool is hella buggy.

Reasons for joining

Hello! I will be an incoming Junior and throughout my sophomore year really began to consider rushing. There is one sorority in particular that real caught my eye, but a big factor was the philanthropy. What would you guys do in my shoes? Is philanthropy a good enough reason to rush a house?

A part of me also wants to experience rushing as no one in my family has ever been in a sorority. Is this a “selfish” reason for lack of a better word?

Please ask any questions, and comment any advice! This process is completely foreign so I’m not even sure what to ask right now- 😅

Internship

Im not sure if this fits into this thread, but I’m just going to throw it out there.

Hello!

I was able to get an MD Anderson college „intern” spot this summer and all was going well. Earlier this week I had my orientation and I’ve submitted al I needed to do far before the deadlines.

During my orientation I was told I’d be getting a „welcome email” today, 05/15. I thought nothing of it and Friday came along. I received nothing all day and have been trying to get in contact with anyone I can from MD Anderson.

I’ve called main line, 877-632-6789, and got nothing out of it. I called 2 other numbers and they didn’t help either.

The problem is that I’m supposed to start Monday, and I don’t have a schedule, location, outlook( I think you get one?) or anything else.

And I feel stupid for asking but something called „SLATE” got brought up a few times and I don’t really know WHAT it is exactly? I think it’s the application portal..? But there’s nothing on there. I can only submit documents. If anyone knows what it is PLEASE EXPLAIN! 😭🙏

When I type in „MD Anderson SLATE” into chrome this link pops up:

https://mscsportal.mdanderson.org/applicationmodule/userlogin.aspx

When I try to log in using my application email and password is says „invalid email or password.” I genuinely don’t know if I need this but thought I’d throw it in.

So again, if anyone is going through or has gone through MD Anderson internships please send help 😭😭🙏🙏

Hello! Ill be having my Orgo 2 final exam and was wondering how do you guys „memorize” or learn which steps go with what reactions? For example how do you know to do the steps for Hydrolsys of nitriles/amines in acidic conditions vs hydrolysis of acid chloride in acidic conditions? I learned it as „PAD PAD PED” for the first then „PADED” for the second but learning so any pneumonics is really tedious-

Basically is there a way for me to look at the reagent and reactant and be like „Ok i know which steps go with this”? Or is it really just starting off the mechanism chain and adding steps till completion?

Thank you!
