Int’l Shipping Advise Pls! (SG-US-SG)
Hi tribe! I’m a newbie here and a first-timer attempting to ship a personal wristwatch (not for sale, personal use / used / $300 watch) to the US for repair and return to Singapore (SG).
I am completely bamboozled at how complex international shipping can be for such a simple thing in such a connected world between 1st world countries at that!🤷🏽♂️ Hence, turning to the tribe hopefully for some guidance.
The recipient’s ask is to include a return shipping label and to have any Custom, Shipping, fees, duties, taxes, etc (whatever charges essentially) covered upfront by myself (sender). This is to simplify the process where they receive the item, fix it, slap on the return label and send it on its way back to myself. Completely understand this and am OK with it.
Only issue is I can’t find ANY shippers out of SG, not even DHL / UPS / FedEx, or ‘shipping aggregators’ who do such a simple thing which I see happening all the time for shipments out of UK to US! I’m being advised I need to keep the parcel open for inspection at pick-up, need to have the recipient pick up the Custom charges, they don’t do ‘return shipping labels’, need an AirWay Bill (AWB), Commercial Invoice, custom declaration, export / import permit, etc!😵💫 It ain’t a Richard Mille for the lovd of God! Just a $300 watch with sentimental value needing some love!
Can someone, anyone, help share their experience or provide guidance how I can do this without feeling overwhelmed to ensure a smooth journey back and forth? You’ll be saving me from a mental breakdown! Thanks in advance!🙏🏽
