Feeding Routine

ftm feeding on demand but curious what your days looked like for feeds for months 1-6.

Did you feed every 2-3 or 3-4 hours during the day?

LO is 4 weeks old and trying to see what others experienced. I know it won’t all be the same, but wanting to see what it may be like.

Support During Unmedicated Birth

I have always given pushback to doctors and declined what I felt was unnecessary. I worry my husband won’t understand and fully support that I don’t want all the routine procedures and medications doctors push.

Does anyone have any resources to help my husband understand that the doctors recommendations are not the end all be all? And that it’s okay to say NO?

Overwhelmed - Scripture Recommendations

I’m 33 weeks pregnant and pregnancy itself has been a blessing -a true testament of God’s love.

My overwhelmed feelings come from thoughts about my mother in law, birth, postpartum visitors, and deciding whether or not to return to work or maybe going to work only party time after leave.

I’m looking for scripture to address my anxious and continued stressful feelings. These above topics are in my head constantly. I’m overthinking and it’s made me very overwhelmed. I think meditating on Gods word will help me refocus. Have any suggested passages?

In Laws

Hello, I would like some advice for how to address my mother-in-law when I have to see her next/postpartum.

My mother-in-law is upset that she is not going to be allowed in the delivery room and she has brought up demanding to stay at our house after birth and telling us things that are going to happen instead of asking. My husband did address this and we made a plan for how her demands and emotional guilt trips are going to go going forward, but I can’t help but to be angry with her and I worry I’m going to lash out all the things that I’ve been keeping in.

One of the biggest issues I have is that she’s always going behind my back to talk to him about things that my husband and I have already agreed on and addressed with her. Now, my husband and I are on the same page with what we want to happen as far as boundaries/visitors after delivery, but she keeps trying to negotiate with him as if she has that right.

There will be times in the coming weeks that I have to be alone with her while she’s in town staying with us because my husband is working and hers is not available to come with. That is the period of time I’m worried about.

She says things like my child is all she’s living for, demands to hold baby immediately and will threaten ultimatums at my husband, like cutting him off (not financially, but emotionally), and throws things in his face, such as “we invested so much in him, “ we deserve it“ and paid for so many things for the baby. She also keeps throwing in his face that he doesn’t know how to be a father in a way that makes him think that he needs their help and I just know that my husband and his instincts will make him a great father and he doesn’t need someone telling him that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. I hate the way that she talks to him because she’s so degrading and bossy as if he is still under her authority. He doesn’t see it, but everyone from the outside can see that her comments are hurtful and one should never say that to their own child. And she’s a Christian yet she tries to throw the Bible at him that it’s honoring your mother and father and would be disobedience to God if they weren’t allowed at the hospital and allowed to stay the night with us.

I’m honestly overwhelmed, very pregnant, and just so sick of her behavior. What advice do you have and do you have any scripture I can read while I prepare to see her next?

How do you navigate boundaries and resolution with in laws (specifically MIL/DIL relationships) when one party is not willing to meet in the middle?

for background:

My husband and I have been married several years and I’m pregnant with our first child. My husband is wonderful and will set boundaries with his family even if he doesn’t agree fully with me. Theres only been a few times it’s been needed to be done with my MIL but honestly I had always just shrugged off comments from her by the next time I saw her. Now that I’m pregnant I can’t do it anymore. It’s like since getting pregnant, I am enemy #1 and it’s constant commentary or boundary breaking.

Upon telling my in laws I was pregnant, my MIL demanded to be in the room, tells me horror birth stories rather than anything positive about the newborn experience, plans to have her overnight visits (bought a playpen and other items for her house hours away), relies heavily on her children’s attention for emotional security, and is always commenting on my eating not being enough or me being too small. There’s been more but this is the basis that really shapes the main boundary issues.

When setting a boundary about these, the reaction is classic emotional guilt and my husband stood his ground.

Recently the comments about my body were becoming too much so I privately texted her asking her to stop. She never acknowledged it and called my husband to complain. Again, he stood up for me.

She has continued to ignored me and I do truly want a good relationship with her, so I sent her another text hoping to reconcile saying something along the lines of I love her very much I just needed her to know how it made me feel and now she won’t talk to me at all. She still calls and texts my husband but refuses to acknowledge me.

If she continues to ignore me, what do I do? I know I will not be sending another text or ask my husband to bring it up.

My husbands father is such an amazing man and I want my child to have a wonderful relationship with grandparents but I also don’t feel that my MIL is owed that right when she has been/is being disrespectful.

My husband agrees her behavior isn’t right but it’s best not to discuss much with her any further boundaries or rules until the time is fitting since I’m only half way through the pregnancy.

I don’t want to nag my husband about it but it’s been on my mind daily. It’s still his mom so I’m trying really hard to not be disrespectful when she comes up in conversation. It’s hard when I think about all the things she’s done recently though.
