Satisfactory Factories Beta v0.6 - The "Groundwork" update

https://satisfactory-factories.app

Hello again Pioneers! Hot off the heels of Update 5, the "Overclocked" update I'm bringing you Update 6: The "Groundwork" update.

!!BREAKING CHANGE!!: Raw Resources are no longer assumed in the planner

Before update 6, Raw Resources e.g. Iron Ore, Limestone, Water etc were all "assumed". You were not prompted nor asked to provide mining sites for them, it was left up to you.

This created an entire layer of logistics that was invisible. At the beginning of the planner's development, I felt it was "unnecessary complexity". Paradoxically, it generated more complexity than it saved, so now it is required. I've also got a lot of feedback that it really should be this way, and it now is.

The Raw Resource Wizard

I have created a wizard in order to help you transition your factories to the new format. It will help you create mining factories and set up imports / exports and get the ball rolling. I can't sadly do every little bit for you (e.g. I don't know what miners you have where), but provides a start for you.

Factory Groups

Grouping factories is now possible! Creating groups enables you to see all products created within that group, any issues affecting that group are surfaced via the new Factory Status Chips feature, and you are able to keep your planner nice and clean by hiding groups of factories.

A great suggestion to start is using Mining factories as your first group, then split it by phase!

Factory Status Chips

Factory status chips expose problems with your factory elegantly and clearly, so you can see problems as they arise. The planner also supports and detects more "problems" within the plan, e.g. byproduct based blockages, no demand for parts (produced but not used anywhere, export or internally), and a variety of others.

Factory Icons

Every factory can now have an icon! Wherever a factory is mentioned / linked in the plan, the factory name and it's icon will be clearly displayed. You are able to choose from a wide variety of icons, and some emoji based ones, about 350 in total.

QoL and a whole crapton of fixes

I won't bore you with the details but safe to say the planner has become even more accurate and reliable. A ton of rounding errors were fixed, and various bugs reported to us has been squished.

A lot of nice quality of life stuff has been added as well!

All the juicy details can be found on the tool's Change Log - https://satisfactory-factories.app/changelog.

Stay efficient Pioneers!

Working on asteroid physics, let me know if this looks good?

Been working on creating a mesh fracturing system and using asteroids as the first implementation of it.

The intention is ships can use asteroids as cover, blocking shots etc. I felt however that the asteroids not being destructible just removed from the experience, so I decided to make them so.

The asteroid mesh has pre-baked fragments (of which those fragments have "shards" as they collide with objects), and I think it works quite well.

Open to any suggestions for improvement or how to make it better!

v1.2 of the Albion Roads Mapper released! Bringing Map Chains, Royal Continent / Outlands home zone support, enhance room plotting, home zone relocation support and more!

https://albionroads.live (check the banner at the top)

Version 1.2 released!

⛓️ Introducing Map Chains

Map Chains are a means for you to create separated chains of maps. This is useful for example if you're venturing into roads from the Royal Continent, Outlands or Brecillien. You can create new map chains using a button in the top toolbar, called Chain Manager. Visiting the website will highlight where it is.

👑 Royal Continent and Outlands connections can be connected to each other now

Meaning you are able to fully plot a route all the way to the city or a portal town.

🗺️ Enhanced Route Plotting

It is now possible to plot routes between two different locations, previously it was only possible to route from the home zone to a destination. Now, it is possible to plot a route between two points of your choice. Show your guildmates the way to the royal cities!

🛫 Relocate your home zone

It is now possible to relocate your home zone using the new Chain Manager. Simply open the Chain Manager, press Relocate on your first chain, you'll be asked where to move it to.

This also means you can relocate it to any Royal Continent, Outlands or even Brecillen.

Also means new rooms can be created using any of these rooms.

✏️ Room renaming

You are now able to rename your room. Simply click on the name top right and it'll prompt you to change it. You require the admin password to do so.

Other

  • It is now possible for two zones to be connected via two portal pairs. When this occurs, it uses the same "direction" as the preexisting connection.
  • Improved some of the blue hints to be less obtuse and less in your face.
  • Zones are longer wrongly marked as "explored" by changing the connecting time/portal.
  • Fixed misaligned connection lines on zone handles.

Introducing: Albion Online Roads of Avalon Mapper!

https://albionroads.live

This tool enables you to fully chart and map the Avalonian roads. But it differs from other tools out there in many ways:

  • Geographically correct, portals are orientated and aligned according to how they are in game.
  • Paths are shown, you are able to read it like a true map.
    • You are able to highlight and plot routes to Royal Continents etc, showing the maximum available time that link is alive for.
  • Track Cores (with timers), Resources, Chests (timed and Avalonian), Dungeons, Crystal Creatures and much more!
  • All data is room based, and is updated in real time, unlike other tools out there!
  • Slick visuals, nice animations, feature rich with Map Summaries and alerts for reds sighted, etc.
  • Fully mobile compatible!

This project has been in development for over 2 months, and it's been fully tested by my guild, DIG, who have been using it daily and offering invaluable feedback. It is a polished experience, and ready for you to use!

Full tutorial available on the website!

Simply just scroll down on the landing page and you'll have a full tutorial, with chapters.

The year is 2026. Can we please now have ordering of system tray icons?

I think it's a bit silly that for a DE as great as KDE that we seemingly have no means to sort the icons in the system tray.

I'd like to understand the technical limitations behind why this is, and why the KDE team haven't prioritized this.

It seems like such a simple and quick win, even if we are able to "pin" certain icons to the right of the tray that would be FAR better than the seemingly arbitary / unuseful ordering that we have today.
