Last year I did a research Internship at Tokyo University and I really liked it, didn't think much of it at the time because I have never been particurlarly fond of Japan, I'm not a fan of anime and japanese culture in particuliar and have been learning Chinese for about 4 years and have a C1 certification. I have always thought I was more of a Chinese culture person than a Japanese one.

This year I managed to reach my goal of being admitted to the best university in China with a full schorlarship and I started to attend about a month and a half ago, I was originally very excited since it's also my first time in China. Everything should be perfect but for some reason I keep realizing how much living in Japan felt better than living in China... And mind you at the time I spoke very rudimentary Japanese as opposed to being fully fluent in Chinese. And even with the language barrer everything just felt so perfect. I also love the life in China but my brain automatically compare everything to Japan and man I just miss it.

Was I wrong all this time ? I originally started Chinese for business opportunities and I still think that it's way more useful than speaking Japanese but man I just feel the need to live in Japan after I graduate, I guess im starting committing to Japanese. but damn I know that these languages take just so much time to master. I used to make fun of Japan weebs but I am starting to understand

22M incoming master student at Tsinghua University, european but speak Chinese fluently.

Really interested in raves and electronic music in general but not looking for typical foreigners night-clubs where bald guys go to awkwardly dance looking at girls, open to any anything if you have some info’s !

New player here, I unlocked the invasion mode and thought it looked very fun. having a player invade you and pretend to be friendly to stab you in the back ! looks like a really fun challenge.

I turned it on and we got invaded the next game, needless to say I was very disappointed, the guy just spawn at the start of the match near us and run straight a us with a knife, no strategy, no challenge, just running in a straight line and stabbing us. I found that they was practically no counter play to that apart from running a little bit before dying because what do you want me to do, he’s got a knife, he doesn’t even have to hide the knife after all why would he bother.

i also don’t understand why would anyone turn this on ? they didn’t seem to be any special bonus points or anything, I just dont get it

overall the waste of a game

I'm still a student but starting to prep leetcode for interview and I want to prep with the same conditions that I would have during big tech interview.

I code in the leetcode interface directly with no auto completion whatsoever

What I do now :

Read the problem

Use pen and paper to come up with an intuitive solution

Write the solution

Once it work try to upgrade it if it wasnt the optimal solution already

The thing is that when i'm coding I always print variables to keep trace and debug and I was wondering if i'll be able to do that in real interview ? I'm just not very confident in debugging with pen and paper

Mind you I am european and don't really care about US universities but I do share the common believe that some of them are the best in the worlds and should logically receive and train the best students in the world right ?

The thing is during my last internship I had to pass on my project to the new intern which was at the end of his second year of bachelor degree in CS at Stanford.

Obviously I thought that the guy would be a total beast but I really quickly noticed that he didnt know anything practical about our job, I come from an unknown mid university in Europe and here I was explaining to the guy from Stanford basic computer system architecture and programming habits that we learn in first year. And also he wasnt learning fast at all. Tried to ask him nicely why don't he have knowledge of these basic subjects and he muttered something explaining that at his school they dont have a lot of technical classes during the first two years ?

I mean it's the only person from there that I ever met so it may just be an exceptional case but in my mind people that attend these top schools were all basically geniuses,

I have the pre admittance letter from Tsinghua aswell as the JW201 form but to get the official admission and be able to apply for my X1 visa I need to verify my diploma with the CSCSE and send it to Tsinghua, problem is In july I will get an attestation of sucess with is valid to continue my studies in my country (France) but it is NOT a real diploma. The real diploma will only be released in January.

I called the CSCSE and basically they don't know if the attestation will work since they ask for the full official diploma, anyone else in this situation or anyone that know what I can do?

5 meep away from completing it, the battle pass ends in 7 days, does the star atlas also ends with the battle pass or will it stays the same until the end of the season ? (if so any idea on when does the season end??)

Bonjour! J'ai été admis a l'ENSIMAG en formation ingénieur. Pour moi le coté international d'un environnement est très important pour que je soit épanoui, je parle anglais et chinois mandarin a un niveau C1 certifié et j'apprends le Japonais. J'ai passé l'année dernière a Paris pour mes études et j'ai justement beaucoup apprécié le coté international de la ville (surtout le nombre de chinois avec qui parler ahah)

Bien sur je ne m'attend pas a ce que Grenoble soit aussi internationale mais j’aimerais quand même vous demander des informations la dessus étant donné que je n'y suis encore jamais allé ? Surtout sur le nombre de chinois et d'internationaux en général.

Computer Science master student from France, C1 English C1 Chinese (self learned), I can also go to Universities in my country but theyre ranking is not that high (around QS 300ish)

Worried that Tsinghua might not really be worth for international students.

Hello! I am currently a third year computer science student primarly experienced in AI and Data at a pretty mid University in France, I speak Chinese at an around C1 level 9been learning for 3-4 years) and i've just received admission from a few Universities in France that are among the best in the country but not really known internationally, (around QS top 300 if it means anything), on the other end I also have been admitted at Tsinghua University with a full scholarship which is arguably the best University in China.

The problem is that I have heard that Universities in China are really not that prestigious for international students as it's way easier to get into, also I am wondering if the degree will be worth much in other countries because I don't really want to be forced to work in China all my life. My goal is to work in international companies or in the US and I don't really mind which country as long as it's interesting. If I stayed in France I have the opportunity to study my master will doing an apprenticeship which will give me roughly one year of work experience as an AI Engineer.

But going to China would also be the opportunity for me to become fully trinlingual by improving my Chinese, is there work opportunities for profile like me that speak French English and Chinese ?

Theoritically speaking if I didn't know any tactics, just the basic of opening and didnt take initiative much except some one or two movers move but never blundered a piece fork pin... and always find it when my opponents make this kind of mistake, what elo would I be ?

In other words at which elo do you think it's not just about making less mistake than your opponents and more about playing tactically
