Blast inner workings?

Hey all, I've heard somewhere that the initial blast buildup needed is 70 and that this increases by +30 every time an explosion triggers, with a cap at 670.

Blast like any other abnormal status has a 1/3 chance to he applied on hits.

My weapon has 624 blast so this should apply 21 per hit on average. (62,4 applied with a 1/3 chance)

If this info is correct then I feel like I am either missing info or have incorrect info.

I am a CB main and I see my blast procs very quickly in the fight cause of the low cap and my high status.

However I've noticed that deeper into the fights it basically seems to stop working. Eventually I would about 35 hits to trigger a blast explosion (of courses probability means this isnt guaranteed) but I am closer to needing 50+ to trigger it.

So a few questions:

- Is my info correct?

- Do the attacks + savage ace ticks + phial explosion count as 1 attack? Or do these count as 1 + 3-7 + 1 attacks? (In regards to blast applying of course)

Help a brother out!

Ive been playing wilds for 42 hours now, 40 of them with the charge blade.

But I just can't quite put my finger on optimal dps. The guides also say very different things.

What I think I learned is that you wanna charge your axe (savage axe) and then just spam the elemental attack while holding it down?

With this the impact phials are better?

But a lot of the guides tell me to charge my shield too. Does this increase the dmg you deal with the axe? Or is it just increased defense when guardian and the ability to do SEAD?

Tl:dr:

  1. Does charging the shield do anything besides increasing your guard defense and access to SEAD?

  2. Is charging axe and then spamming AED attacks the best dps?

  3. Are impact phials better? And why if so?

How did you find THE weapon for you?

A few years ago I tried to get into the mainstream MH games, played for about an hour but all the weapons felt very clunky so I refunded the game.

Fast forward

Bought MHS3 when it came out (I love turn based combat in RPG's) and then a month after I finished the game I saw a YouTube video talking about "The click" in the mainstream games. The click being the moment when everything starts to make sense in the game.

Well that vid + really liking the environment of the games made me try again. However I am unsure what weapon is best as a beginner? Please help!

(Fyi I find all weapons equally as cool)

Edit: That is a lot of replies in a very short time! Ill promise Ill read through them all and thank you!

Edit 2: Read through them all, thanks a lot! Consensus seems to be to just play and see what feels best while not giving up to early on a weapon.

Aspect Host 3DP

And before you all flip your shit. We are getting out ahead in the new edition with the hidden rule, indirect changes and cover changes.

3 DP is probably to stop us from running an aspect list with our vehicles buffed as well.

The whole game is gonna change so current winrate says nothing about the power we will have in 11th.

But yes aspect host is confirmed to be 3 DP by the lists shown on stream.

Edit: I really wanna reiterate the fact that 11th is a whole new beast. So something that currently sucks might be very good in 11th and vice versa.
