The one unit I really really want Thanquol to bring

Giant rats !

I know some of you must be thinking "but why, that's such a lame unit" or "wait don't we already have the Wolf Rats". But let me explain why they're cool : they're big rats !

In a race that is all about rats of dubious sizes, we still have zero actual rat units. We have humanoid rats, we have mutant mole rats, we have wolf-like rats hybrids, but genuine, bonafide big rodents ? None ! Every single artwork of Skaven have them, they're ubiquitous to the race yet we don't have any playable chonky rat !

Also, gameplay-wise, they're quite unique. They're not hounds at all like Wolf Rats, and they're not a swarm. They're a fast-moving tarpit ! Think Skavenslaves but sturdier, quicker to reposition and able to be buffed by Moulder !

(Plus they're cute and if they're added, it will mean that every single unique 8th edition unit is in the game !)

Fabio being a main retainer is very exciting

I think something people are kinda forgetting already is that Fabio isn't a one-time villain you kill and move on. He's the right hand of a main character !

This also means that he's going to be on your side from start to bottom, and he's going to be "good", or at least on your side forever. He's the 2nd none-MC character revealed, that's huge, and he look and seems so unique ! We're getting a grey-morality, non-conventionally attractive main retainer, that's some great diversity (especially since he isn't the only non-pretty character so it's not like they're typecasting the one ugly character as morally dubious)

I think that's very exciting. Either Dietrich run will be much more evil than anticipated (which would be a first in the franchise) or Fabio will have a nice side. Anyways, IS have no choice but to develop him, a guy this important is bound to have a good deal of supports and narrative role, so he's gonna have to show a soft/sweet/different side, like Hubert. Even Peri had to drop the act in some supports because a gimmick doesn't carry 10 conversations !

We could very well get the first Agarthan that isn't comically one-note evil, how cool is that ? I'm very happy at Fabio for now, such an interesting basis for a retainer, with many cool directions to take him !

I really like how the other lords in Fortune's Weave seems to be more present in your route

Just a random musing, but basically in every battle we've seen yet in the Heroic Games, we have at least one other lord on top of the one you choose, as a green unit. I find this quite exciting !

I'm a big fan of Three Houses, but one of the weakest points of the White Clouds first half, imo, (beyond the tediousness of doing it on repeat playthrough and it being the same for every route) is that you basically never interact with the other lords.

You talk to everybody once a month, and then the only moment somebody is there on the field with you is for the Gronder Battle. And that's it. As a result, you don't really know what the other lords are like, and you get the impression that your class is the only one doing things while the other are twiddling their thumbs all throughout.

In Fortune's Weave, fitting for its name, it would seems that the lords meet-up and team-up regularly, interacting both narratively and on the battlefield. So you're bound to get a better feel of the others as you play, and it just make everything feel more alive. They're all doing things, having their own adventure and sometimes the paths intersect !

PSA : Tommorow at 16:30, there's a huge livestream for Total War Warhammer, with the third End Times DLC Legendary Lord being revealed

I'm a bit flabbergasted that CA didn't see fit to actually announce it beyond a reddit answer on a random thread and a passing mention in their Medieval III livestream, so I think it can't hurt to let everybody know more clearly !

It's already planned on youtube, btw, here's the link for it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6O3mv_O7rA

Total War games yearly sales (from SEGA yearly investor briefing)

A few interestings things to note :

Three Kingdoms sold ABSURDLY WELL at first, like 2.5x as much as TWWH3 in its first year, probably thanks to China. It did have a harsher fall-off, tho.

TWWH3 is remarkably constant, if anyone was scared of CA sunsetting it anytime soon. It's been selling ~400k units every years, with no dip or anything despite all the hiccups and struggles.

(Also SEGA doesn't give the tiniest fuck about Pharaoh, treating it like a minor title)

This NPC design is absurdly cool and I really hope we get it as a class outfit

Look at that peak helmet, mixing classical greek faceguard with a bronze age plume decoration !

Beautiful

How come nobody is talking about how crazy this FW map look ? It has two different heights !

Like, I see some people concerned about most of the maps we've seen being in the arena, and beyond the fact that we've seen lots of visual and gameplay diversity between them (runes, ruins, Agarthan golems, boats, burning obstacles, etc...) the most striking feature that I've yet to see anybody discuss is here :

This map have TWO ELEVATIONS. There's a lower part and a raised part, both with enemies. And there appear to be a lift system, given the glowing levers. Either we can carry characters from one side to the other, or the entire piece of arena raise and lower itself. Either way, isn't that a crazy new gameplay mechanic ?

I think this is very exciting for the future, if the game is willing to give us weird, unique maps like that, even inside the colosseum. Yes, they might all be squares, but the diversity is here !

So, when do we expect the June news ?

Basically the title but yeah, we know we're supposed to get another livestream for Lords of the End Times this month, and June is basically over in a lil over two weeks, so what do we think ?

And could we get a release date this time, given it's supposed to be out in two months ?

When do we think 8.1 release ?

Basically the title, but also it's just not a simple speculation cause it's also part of a wider plan.

We know 8.1 is the AI fix patch, which is sorely needed. We also know that, logically, 8.1 will release before the LotET DLC, which is 9.0. AND we know the End Times DLC is, as of today, planned to release in late summer.

So, that begs the question, when is 8.1 out ? Cause that's an awfully short window to release it, no ? CA very rarely release big patches more often than every other months, and that was back when all hands were on board, and 8.1 and 9.0 are two big patches right there with a lot of potential bugs each !

Can CA really release 8.1 and 9.0 both in three months ? The only reasonable way for it is if we're getting 8.1 like, in the next few weeks, no ? Anything later and it's basically confirmation that End Times is delayed, I think.

CA, didn't you forgot something ?

Yes it is a very minor nitpick and I don't mean it as a genuine criticism but it does look a lil weird that their armor is basically floating over their chest instead of being held by chains with a cool backpiece, hope it's jus a mitsake like Dwarfs Demon Slayers axes in ToT and can be resolved !

If an encounter need a dozen augments removed to work, maybe the issue is with the encounter

I think the title is pretty self-sufficent, but yes, with the next patch disabling a bunch of augments when you have a specific encounter, I think the obvious question is : isn't the encounter the issue ?

Moreover, TFT is already mired with so many little things and quirks to know and remember, this is just adding more information to keep in mind, and a higher gap between someone able to know and optimize on those infos, and the players that simply don't have that information !

Honestly, while I was watching the stream last week, seeing Bashiva's spinning and somersaulting and aurafarming all over some gnoblars with cool ass martial arts, I couldn't help but think about how many units and characters are stuck with the WH1 empire captain animation set, bland and janky.

Boris Toddbringer himself is gonna get it ! The same 10 years-old shield spin and little sword bash that never looked good. But at least he's a regular human, so while basic, it's not too absurd.

But Vampires have been stuck with it too, both named and generics. Super-fast, super-strong bat monsters are stuck with booping guys with their shield while Cathay Shugengans and Dragons and Furries are doing 720 spin tricks ! That's exactly how vampire should move and feel ! I really think it's cool what CA did for Cathay, but please don't forget about the blood boys :(

(If I see Walach Harkon, leader of the Blood Knights, with those animations, I'm gonna lose it )
