Growing larger and larger, like a swarm of angry bees…

So I made a rule for myself that these could only be thrifted, no cheating with online orders to fill the gaps.

Two years on and I’m just below halfway to collecting the entirety of Nicolas Cage’s ouvre.

Australian history movie?

So with all the online ranting recently about “historical epics”, I was kinda thinking:

What Australian historical event do you reckon is overdue a decent film?

My vote is the Catalpa Rescue from Freo in 1876, the story is just too good not to film, provided you could actually get people to believe it…

How long ago was it that your country’s leader had a “real job” before politics?

For us in Australia, it was probably Arthur Fadden, who was our Prime Minister (for just 39 days) in 1941.

When Fadden was only 15, he dropped out of school and became a “Billy-Boy” (basically an odd job man) in the Queensland sugar cane fields (which is an absolute *bastard* of a job*).

How long ago was it that your national leader worked in an industry other than “business” or “law” or something similar?

This Black Sabbath was released a year before “Black Sabbath” by Black Sabbath from the album Black Sabbath.

This Black Sabbath actually came out a year before “Black Sabbath” by Black Sabbath from the album Black Sabbath. The Black Sabbath song on Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath got its title from the movie Black Sabbath, but I wonder if this other Black Sabbath that isn’t the Black Sabbath from Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath also got its title from the movie.

I’m assuming everyone is familiar with the “gay old time” phenomenon, where a previously innocuous word or phrase becomes retroactively hilarious/offensive as it takes on new meaning.

It kinda seems to me like “goon” might be heading the same way with popular usage, what do you guys reckon?

  1. The Mentalist. The California Bureau of Investigation. Bonus points for this one because characters in the show frequently don’t know about them either.

  2. NCIS. Again, running gag in the show “is that like CSI?”.

  3. The NASA Office of the Inspector General (IRL). They solve space crime. And have the coolest badges.

Got a few little pieces done recently (Vonnegut, 40K Genestealers, Mighty Boosh, Fallout and Bluey). I’ve also got the spider from Transmetropolitan and a Trogdor.

Wondering if you guys have any favourite pieces you’ve got done from your obsessions?
