How perfectly plumb do your studs need to be for goboard?

Trying to get these studs plumbing as possible but it seems like every single board has a different issue. I’ve thought about just sistering each stud and calling it a day.

My question is how plumb do you have to get. For instance I have a 5 foot stone section but one stud is about 1/8” from touching the board. Will that gap be a huge issue for a smaller tile application?

Update: Valve Replacement

So I replaced the valve and soldered the connections. I cleaned the original copper until it looked brand new before applying flux and soldering.

Good news is we have high water pressure and everything seems to be holding up. Ran the water for a bit and no issues and no leaks.

Question is: if it’s not leaking now does that mean I’m good to go or should I wait a while before closing up the wall.

Got a bit messy on some connections but overall I feel good about it.

First practice Solder. How’d I do?

Obviously not great, however lookin for yalls perspective on just HOW bad. I def feel like I had the flame too close to the fitting and on it for too long but the flux did its job and the solder was drawn into the joint

Pex or stick with Copper?

Replacing this valve and considered using pex + sharkbite max. Now I’m thinking just sweat new copper to the valve. Thoughts? Pex would be super fast.

Im a DIYer and not a professional but I do know how to solder copper and fit sharkbite properly.

Can I place this board over the existing insulation?

ChatGPT recommended this. 20 yr old house and have large hot spots on walls and upstairs is 80+ degrees.

I understand this is not the fix but I’m looking for it to help a bit. Southern Louisiana is hot af. We have two new AC units and we have a temperature imbalance issue we are currently working on.

Really Just need to know if this is a good idea or not.

How to tile fast enough before thinset dries out in my bucket

I swear I’m so slow. I’m a DIY and have done one tile project before. A 8x8 entryway. Currently doing a 8x5 bathroom floor and using schluter ditra and schluter all set. It has a 2 hour pot life (I think that’s what it’s called) but I can’t tile fast enough and waist about 1/4 of a bag
