A l aide

What do you think

Hey everyone! I’m looking to add Alocasia Melo, Alocasia Platinum, and Alocasia Frydek variegata to my collection. I already have an Alocasia Polly and love how it’s been growing.

For those of you who own any of these three — how are your plants doing right now? Would love to hear your honest experience with them and any thoughts before I take the plunge 🌿

Prince of Orange owners: does it get a glow-up? 🍊

Hello everyone 👋🏻

I don’t know why, but I don’t really think she’s that pretty yet. 😅 The orange isn’t quite the shade I had in mind when I bought her. Does anyone else have one? Did yours have a glow-up over time?
I know she was in rehab lol, but she’s starting to thrive, she’s getting really tall, and she stands much more upright now since being treated.
I also feel like she doesn’t have enough volume yet… I don’t know, maybe she’ll fill out as she matures?

Update Alocasia

So I finally took the plunge tonight and decided to take my plant out of its pot to clean everything properly. When I washed the roots, I was actually surprised they looked incredibly healthy, white and strong. And honestly, when I saw how beautiful and solid they were, I just couldn’t bring myself to cut them. The plant looked too alive and full of potential to do that.

And the best part ? I ended up with 12 little rhizomes, and I could even spot 4 more still forming !!!!!

After all the stress of discovering pests everywhereeee😭🥹finding all these babies felt like a little victory. Like the plant was saying “don’t worry I’m doing good”. It definitely put a smile on my face after such an exhausting evening …

Now they’re all planted and resting for now :(Tomorrow I’m heading to the store to get the treatment I need for the rest of my collection

I’d love to hear your experience for those of you who have propagated Alocasia rhizomes before how did it go ? What was your experience ? 🌿

Help me

Hi everyone,

I just discovered thrips (small yellow/white elongated bugs) and spider mites on my Alocasia Polly, especially on a new leaf that was still rolled up.

The thing with these pests is that they hide deep in the folds of new leaves while they’re still rolled up, and also between the stems where everything is packed tightly together. No matter how much I try to treat the surface with a cotton swab or spray, the eggs survive in those tight spots and keep coming back.

I just wanted to admire this beautiful plant and instead I feel like I bought myself a problem 😔
😭😭😭

So I’m thinking about cutting all the stems down to soil level, rinsing the roots under water, replacing the soil completely and watering with diluted neem oil to make sure everything is clean.

What do you think ? Will the rhizome survive and grow back healthy ? Has anyone tried this before ?

Will never again buy in Jumbo interlaken 😭 so disappointed it may have been spread to other plants rights

Hi everyone I’m new

Yesterday, I bought a begonia that was looking quite rough. Among all the plants in the shop, it was actually the best one available, so I decided to rescue it. Even though it was in poor condition and had some damaged leaves, I still bought it.
I’m very new to the world of plants, but I’ve fallen completely in love with them—they’re just magnificent! Once I got my little begonia home, I couldn't stand to see it looking so sad, so I decided to give it a fresh trim to make it look better.
When I looked for advice on what to do next, I received conflicting information. Some AI tools suggested that I could propagate the plant even from the leaf cuttings, while many online sources insisted that it was impossible to grow a new plant that way. I'm excited to see how it turns out

Just wanted to add that I didn’t know Landi Switzerland 🇨🇭 doesn’t give discounts on damaged plants. This one had quite a few damaged leaves and honestly wasn’t looking its best, so I thought it was worth asking. It was also my first time pruning a plant this heavily. They definitely gave me a funny look when I asked for a discount. 😅
