My Flip 7 Screen Finally...

I just sent my Flip 7 out yesterday for a new screen protector. It started bubbling at the crease. It made it about 9 months, with being treated like a baby. It barely left my house as it was not my DD, and didn't get open to enclosed very many times. I pretty much just left it open. That makes it 100% screen protector failure on every flip phone I've had since the three, and I don't think I missed a year.

Check Engine Light Returned - Have a Theory...

*Sorry this is long*

Gen 2, decat and tune. Last week I posted about my check engine light coming on and then disappearing again after a few rides. Thought it might have been an anomaly, but I wasn't surprised when it came back on.

I never got around to buying a code reader, but was about to when it came back on earlier this week. I tried all the obvious things to reset it to no avail. I figured it would end up being an O2 sensor. But I started thinking of anything that had changed - aha, maybe low OCTANE combined with the extra hot/humid weather (low AFR) triggered it?

My local gas station sells 87, 89, and 93. Bike is tuned for 91, so I blend 93, 89, and 87. I think I might have forgotten to alternate on one of the my top-offs and put 87 in 2x, and it's been extra hot and humid. It ran fine while the light was on, and definitely no knocking, but an error code locks the ECU settings. Yesterday , I took it, ran it down a few gallons then topped it off with 93. Rode it back home (8-9 miles) cycled it 4-5x in the garage but no change. Went back out a few hours later after it cooled and the CE light was off before I even started it. Everything back to normal.

Success? Don't know yet, we'll see, but I think my "too-low octane" theory is plausible, especially stop and go with it hot and humid since it impacts the AFR. If I'm just putting around town, I don't consciously worry about octane as much as if I'm out for a day of riding and/or riding the bike harder.

Just wanted to share for the knowledge base. I'll keep y'all posted.

My Galaxy Watch 4 Classic just updated yesterday. Was it just security patches, or was there anything new added or changed to the functions/features?

I haven't checked my 6 Classic yet.

BTW, the Classic 4 is still working like a champ on the new OS. Battery? About 30 hours max. 🤣 OTOH, my Classic 6 feels like a new watch in comparison given the much better battery life, but the 4 hangs with it with nice new watch faces, new bands, etc.

How are your older Galaxy Watches doing? Who's still rocking their oldest one here?

My '00 Singlecut

Quilt Singlecut that I bought new in '00 or '01 from a Guitar Center (oh how things have changed) here in Austin, I can't remember. What's funny is that it was before Gibson filed suit alleging that people shopping Les Pauls could become "confused" and accidentally purchase the Singlecut instead of the Les Paul. Yup, I thought it was pretty funny too - and we know how it turned out.

What's amazing to think of (based on my current finances) is that on that same day, I also bought a Whale Blue "Triple Soapbar", also a 10-top. Right afterwards, I had plans to meet my girlfriend, whom I'd just started dating. I can still remember how distracted I was sitting there with her while my guitars were sitting in the car patiently waiting. Definitely a good day though! Still have the SC. I never bonded with the Soap.

SO - Who's owned an OG Singlecut or Triple Soapbar? Ever seen a Triple Soap? I'll add a pic of the soap below.

2nd Gen, Check Engine light scare

Went for a short ride last night. Stopped at the grocery store about a mile from home. Went to accelerate onto the road and noticed my QS wasn't working, looked down and saw my check engine light on. Crap! Mind starts racing - O2 sensor? Oil low?, ECU?, something worse? And then you start hearing sounds you're sure are new. Am I causing damage by riding it home? I ended-up coasting with the engine off most of the way down my street!

I've got under 3k mi, did the cat delete and tune, blocked OIS. Cycled the ignition on-off about 6-8x. Fired it up, light still on. I decided to leave it to tackle today.

Fired it up to head out this morning - Engine light's off! Yes!

Have any of you had the random, fluke, check engine light come on?

I've had the '68 Super Reverb for about 23 years. I located the Leslie Model 16 (Fender Vibratone) that just happens to also be a '68 (~90% sure). I run the Leslie off the Super with the help of the preamp and a splitter for the Super only, or both with the Leslie -stationary, slow, or fast. Crank the mids on the Super, add some OD, and it gets a B3, kinda Steppenwolf vibe happening.

The rig takes really well to a 'univibe' pedal - but with the Leslie rotation stationery. It's a little too crazy sounding with both the vibe and the Leslie spinning.😏
