Passkeys on Schwab coming soon
Anyone else notice the new security setting in the app? I’m impressed. From not having proper TOTP to going straight to passkeys. Not even Fidelity and Vanguard support them yet.

What is the best way to secure my account without locking myself out, outside of a hardware key? Right now I have all of my logins and 2FA codes stored in Proton Pass, including my Proton password itself. So to avoid getting into a circular trap, I also store my Proton account 2FA code in a separate authenticator app (I use 2FAS synced to iCloud). But then if I ever lose my phone or it gets stolen, I'm still locked out of my account if I need to sign in again. So then do I store all of the 2FA secret keys in an encrypted file on a cloud drive to cover that scenario? But then I have to secure *that* cloud drive somehow so that's another password I have to remember. Should I export my Proton vault as a KeePass file periodically to keep as an offline backup just in case I ever get permanently locked out? Am I just overthinking all of this and do I just need to remember my Proton account master password while keeping the account recovery kit in a safe place? Trying to keep things as simple as possible.

It seems the desktop app is unlike the mobile app where you can use face ID but if it fails you can require the password to be entered instead of your phone's pin code (there is an option in the settings you can enable for this).
Is there any way the desktop app can do this? I would much rather unlock using touch ID on my macbook instead of entering the password, but that means my vault is now entirely protected by my device passcode instead of my proton account master password.
What is everyone's thoughts on these ETFs now? Prior to the Iran War, gold and silver, and especially the mining stocks, seemed unstoppable with expected rate cuts and ever rising government debt levels plus money printing. Yes there was the massive crash at the end of January that flushed out the speculators (much more so in silver), but after that they both got back much of their gains. Just prior to the war gold was back above $5000 and silver over $90. Then the war starts, oil becomes everyone's top priority, and both metals immediately tanked and continued to tank to this day. The miners got hit even harder.
Now we are in a situation where it seems this war will never end and we are probably getting rate hikes instead of cuts. Do we think precious metals rebound in the near future, or did we already reach the top and now entering another decade long bear market? Central banks are reportedly still net buyers of physical gold so it seems the overall trend is still towards foreign governments wanting to be less dependent on US bonds. But it just seems like the price of gold doesn't actually react to this.
Is there any way to enable smooth scrolling on Nightly for 120 hz Macbooks? The regular version of Firefox is very smooth but Nightly is juddery.
How do you all feel about this instead of VT as a set and forget it portfolio? I was thinking 50/50 each for QQQM and VXUS. Does much better in the backtest against VT as while still having a higher sharpe and sortino ratio.
Currently still $4500 at the major retailers (only $500 off). Are there good chances for a much better deal? Is Sony even making these anymore and will inventory quickly run out?
Anyone here make the switch to PCP after several years of hospital medicine? I'm IM but thinking of making the switch due to increasing burnout, stress, and dissatisfaction doing inpatient (patients' families are increasingly out of control now with their hostility and demands, consultants are lazy and rude/disrespectful, and the general stress of being a hospitalist with its schedule and having to deal with extremely sick patients who can die at any moment even when you're doing all the right stuff). And with PCP pay in my area being much higher than hospitalists, I'm thinking the grass may actually be greener. For anyone who has made the transition, how did it go? Was it easy or difficult? Anything you wish you knew beforehand?
Does anyone have experience working as full time faculty for the UC system (UCLA, UCSD, etc.)? Wondering how the workload compares to Kaiser or other systems and whether having residents and students actually makes the job more sustainable. The benefits seem quite good.
